  • Saved me $40,000
'03 BMW X5 has the worst stereo ever devised by man. I'm sure it was slick 20 years ago, but we were considering purchasing a replacement in order to get modern features, like a backup camera. Instead I replaced the head unit with Sony AX5600, and this backup camera. The camera is very well designed and has made a huge impact on the usability of the X5. Installation: I screwed it up. I forgot to tighten the set screw on the included drill bit, so it wobbled a bit when I drilled the hole in the tail gate making it a touch too big. Once the camera was snapped into the hole, it moved around, so I just put a bead of silicone adhesive caulk around it, let it set overnight, problem solved. Reverse Image: The head unit has a setting to reverse the image. I must have set it by mistake, so when I first got it going the image was set up as a front view, making it worthless as a backup camera. I contacted the seller through Amazon and the responded immediately. Before you cut the green wire, make sure your head unit is configured correctly! In summary; Great product, great customer service, great value. ... show more

  • DIY rear view camera for my Travel Trailer
I bought this camera and a few other parts to build a lower priced DIY rear view camera to use behind my 30 ft 5th wheel RV. Before I get into the details I want to say that having the camera looking behind my RV was amazing and it will be very hard to ever go backwards in time and not have a rear view camera when towing an RV. So the set up I used is as follows. Parts from Amazon: 1. (1) RAAYOO Direct L002 170 Degree Wide View Angle back up Camera 2. (1) EKYLIN 30 foot Car RCA DC Video Extension Cable 3. (1) Electop Audio Video Gold RCA Female to Female Coupler Adapter 4. (1) Youmei Car Backup Camera Realtime Video WiFi Transmitter 5. (1) SPARKING DC 5.5 x 2.1mm Car Charger Power Supply Cord - 12v -24v 4FT Cigarette Lighter Male Plug to DC Connector 5.5 x 2.1mm Cable 6. Plus you will need a tablet or smart phone to view the video image app. I used a tablet I already owned but the app also worked on my smart phone I mounted the Reverse Backup Camera on the inside of the RV high up in the rear window of the fifth wheel using one of the window frame screws and then added the 30 foot Video Extension Cable to run from the camera up to the front of the RV where I connected it to the WiFi Transmitter on the inside of the RV which was powered by the 12 volt Car Charger Power Supply Cord. Luckily there was already a 12 volt outlet in the very front area of the RV. We install the extension cable between the camera and the transmitter before each trip and uninstall it after we arrive at each location. It takes just a minute to do. The cable just lays on the floor when underway. The reason the WiFi transmitter needs to be in the front of the RV is to reduce the distance and reduce signal interference from walls between the transmitter and the tablet located in the cab of my pick-up truck. After getting the WiFi transmitter linked to the tablet via the app, which was somewhat of a hassle, the system worked pretty well except for a few occasional cut outs and other unstable image problems. I mostly blamed these problems on Wifi interference and just accepted it as normal. I used this system for over one year and the image gradually became less stable. Finally the image was off more than it was on so I contacted the camera vendor, RAAYOO, through Amazon and complained. I really didn’t expect much from them since it had been 15 months since I purchased it and the camera was only $20 to begin with. To my surprise RAAYOO got back to me and had some suggestions regarding troubleshooting the problems. They thought that it was not a camera problem but a power supply intermittent ground problem. So the first thing I checked was the power supply. The power supply cord has a indicator light. And when I wiggled the plug, the light stayed on and steady. This ruled out the power supply itself . I then hooked the cables all back together and started wiggling the connections. Sure enough the image dropped out when the cable was wiggled. So I took out the 30 ft extension cable and hooked up the camera direct to the power supply cables. When wiggled the image was stable. I could not make it drop out. I hooked the extension cable back in and it became unstable again. So RAAYOO was right, the problem was a ground in the extension cable, so I ordered a new cable from a different manufacturer. I now am thinking that the extension cable was probably bad from the day I bought it and the problem just grew worse over time. The camera is working perfectly now that we figured it out thanks to the good support from RAAYOO. I am still enjoying my RV rear view camera and I think it is probably a better system than the factory units that try to transmit the WiFi signal all the way from the rear of the RV to the tow vehicle. It is just too far and too many obstacles for the WiFi to work well. I have not received any kind of compensation from RAAYOO or any other vendor for writing this review. I just hope it helps others troubleshoot their rear view camera issues. ... show more

  • Works great and installed perfectly on 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty
I just installed this on my 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty to be able to see what's directly in FRONT of my truck to avoid bumping another car or object while parking or driving forward. The 2016 F-250 conveniently has A/V jacks in the storage compartment on top of the dash so connecting to my existing system was a breeze. I also wanted to be able to turn the camera on and off with ease so I connected it to the number 4 up-fitter switch which is a 10 amp circuit. The picture quality is very good for the price of this camera but does have faint lines that appear on the screen but not enough to really make any difference. If you want to use it for FRONT VIEW just follow the directions and snip the white and green loops. One thing I should mention is that the camera has a TOP side but it is not marked. Had my wife to sit in the truck to watch the image while I turned the camera to get it in proper alignment. We'll see how long the camera holds up. As mentioned in other reviews the wire is tiny 18 gauge wire which could be a problem with getting cut due to constant vibration. I also opted to solder the power connections due to the size of the wire. Overall I am very pleased with the camera's operation and clean installation on my Truck. I do recommend this camera. UPDATE: THE A/V JACKS ON THE F-250 ONLY WORK IN PARK. TURNS OFF IN DRIVE!!!! I subsequently purchased a small dash mount video display here on Amazon that works perfectly. Now I can see the front of my truck while driving. I wired the video screen into the power for the camera and now all I have to do is flip the #4 upfitter switch on my F-250 to get a perfect front view. This is the link for the Video Screen I purchased. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019GQLNJU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ... show more

  • great camera..nice field of vision
Easy installation (even included a hole cutting drill bit)....beautiful image (even at night) and wide field of vision..

  • Not as clear as I hoped. Too much fish eye and depth of field..
The camera installed great. I installed on my front bumer and it's nice and flush. Everything you need to install was included, even the electrical tape. My complaint is the image. Since the wires are so thin, I assume they are not shielded properly. So there is fuzz on the screen when I switch the head lights on to activate the camera. The depth of field and fish eye is so drastic, something 1 foot in front of you appears to be 200 feet away! It's absurd. So I can't actually tell how close I am to another object or if I'm about to hit it. An object that is in the peripheral looks so stretched and like it's curved around the vehicle. The night vision is far too blurry to distinguish anything of value. It's just bright and blurry. I simply wish the camera would just show what's directly in front of you. Like a phone or camera lens. This is why I give it 3 stars. ... show more
