I buy these remotes often! Not because they break easily or they don't work but because I have a 6 year old "product remote tester" who carries, throws, drops, squeezes it in between cushions, and pushes every button like he's answering a question on Jeopardy. Any remote would have to be durable and sturdy to withstand his daily adventures. This remote is similar if not better than the original remote that came with your tv. It's very easy to sync (just hold down the home button). It is compatible with most Fire TVs, so you could control multiple TVs. It's reasonably priced and good to have as a backup if you have a "product tester", forgetful parents who misplace or lose their remotes often, or if it's just time for a replacement. ... show more

    • Inexpensive but a little unsure-feeling.
This remote unfortunately does NOT duplicate all the functions of t he original. On the original, many buttons will turn the device on; on this replacement remote, only the on/off button will turn the TV on. It means you hit something that works on the original and it WON'T activate the TV (for instance, the select button, or the 'home' button). It's not the end of the world; it just means if you're operating by touch, you aren't getting the responses you expect to get. I also don't care for the texture of the plastic; it feels flimsy and unsure to my mind; your hand doesn' t grip the plastic well so it slips and doesn't duplicate the original very well. The media could not be loaded. I got this replacement remote because the remote I originally got with my fire tv about 5 years ago started malfunctioning. This remote connected to the tv immediately after I put the batteries in it which was very convenient! All buttons work, but they do feel a bit different than the original fire tv remotes… like I said in the title, just an overall cheaper feeling. There is a bright green blinking light in the upper right corner of the remote that the original remotes don’t have, but that’s something I could get used to.
