We don't often need an umbrella in Arizona, but it's always good to have one around. What is helpful in Arizona is an umbrella with wind flaps. I must have read the description wrong, because I thought this was wind "proof" and it's not. It's a nice, sturdy umbrella, though., and I love the cloudy blue sky on the inside (something we only seen in monsoon season). Closed, it's small and open it's normal umbrella size. The open and close buttons are especially helpful if you have your hands full or are handicapped using a rollator. It's definitely a nice umbrella and it hasn't blown inside out yet. But then, I've only used it for about five minutes in the six months I've owned it, so the review is mostly on it's looks, functionality and sturdiness.

Much better than the cheaper umbrellas. It’s compact, opens smoothly, and dries quickly. Two disadvantages: first, it takes a good bit of force to collapse it back down. Second, the fabric doesn’t compact down well when collapsed, so it looks a bit messy and large. It looks nice when you first unbox it, but sort of like a paper map, you’ll never get it folded back the way it was. Otherwise, great product.

After years of living off the $9 no-name models I finally bought a Repel. In comparison it feels extremely well built and sturdy and the extend/retract mechanism is extremely robust and satisfying. Handle also feels good in the hand, a great shape and grip to it. If you're like me and are coming from a cheaper umbrella that died on you, take my advice and finally spend the extra few bucks and pick this one up. You don't want to get caught in the rain with an inside-out eBay umbrella.

I have 4 of these now. One at home, one for each car, and one for my go cart. I don’t want to get caught in a surprise shower which are common in this area. I haven’t used them for shade, but they sure do their job in rain. They’re small to carry, but surprisingly broad in their rain protection. If one ever wears out, I won’t hesitate to buy an in kind replacement.

These are sturdy, compact, and vented. I’ve had a couple for years and the only problem is that my duplexmates have come over to borrow them and don’t return them. Just bought another one to keep the peace (j.k. we share everything, it’s fine! But we will be happy to have more!).
