  • Hair line cracks on some cells ! inspect them carefully
Size: 100MB
Shipping came on time. each panel came in its own box. 1 box was not taped up like the other one. Upon inspection, it was obvious to me that the panels were not new. The frames had scratches which I would have been ok with even though these were labeled as "new". What did it for me was the hair line cracks on some of the cells. Inspect these carefully. These were not smudges or even on the outer layer/surface, but internally. I've contacted Renogy to see how they would want to handle this. I would like to exchange them for a new pair. I'll update with their response later. ... show more

  • Not as advertised, produce half of rated wattage, big dissapointment
Size: 100MB
The media could not be loaded. I make the effort to buy a premium product and am really dissapointed. I live in Arizona,I made a solar suitcase with my 2 Renogy Eclipse 100 watt panels from amazon and 1 from ebay well by the time I tested them in full sun. The panel from ebay produced 78 watts but both the panels from amazon produced 48 and 50 watts respectively. I've already applied hinges and mods so I can't return anything, but I can warn people about a lack of quality control or something going on at Renogy. I did notice a blueish hue in the glass of the two defective panels and the better one was a darker black color. The one from ebay was sent by Renogy , the better one, if that matters ,maybe its the sourcing amazon does, so I'm off to try another brand, highly recommended..that's why I don't write reviews .hope this gets past the "censors"...power to the Shopper! ... show more

  • Boondocking money-saving solution
Size: 100MB
Thing thing is slightly larger than a typical 50W polycrystalline panel on an RV but produces close to 100W in optimal conditions. This is mounted on my truck camper with adjustable angle brackets, connected to an MPPT controller, and has allowed us to live off grid for the past two months. The panel survived baseball sized hail that damaged many other things including a windshield and vent covers. Overall, I'm impressed with the low light and regular performance this panel provides. UPDATE: I traveled 10,000 miles with this panel on my truck camper and never ran a generator once including boondocking on cloudy days by facing the panel south at an optimal tilt for your latitude. The key is LED lighting, MPPT controllers, and judicious use of electronics. I camped for free every night (seek resources about using public land in the USA), and paid off my solar investment in three weeks compared to nominal RV park fees. As a side benefit, my panel trickle charges my battery every day for free and allows a temperature-controlled fan to manage air flow. ... show more

  • Poor Customer Service
Size: 100MB
There's a lot of competition out there when it comes to panels these days. I went with Renogy due to their past reputation for customer service. Two out of the six panels I purchased were the old model. I guess they were emptying out their left over stock....on me. I tried to communicate with them about it and they never got back to me. Amazon helped rectify the situation, but trying to work with Renogy left a bad taste in my mouth. Used to be great customer service, but no longer apparently. ... show more

  • A game changer !
Size: 100MB
Adding solar to our setup was essential for this year's trip to Alaska - land of the midnight sun. Our only regrets are not having invested sooner and only initially installing five panels. We'll soon be adding more solar goodness. We run a Victron Smart Solar 150/70 MPPT charge controller for these panels. We even had power generation well after midnight, inside the Arctic Circle. Overall a solid product and company with great customer service. ... show more

  • Big waste of money.. buy one from rich solar or HQST for half the price
Size: 100MB
Bought two of these panels... but arrived with scratches on panel frames... some of the cells looked like they had scrapes on the cells under the glass... and some of them looked like they had cracks in them... sent them both back to Amazon’s and ordered two more... same thing with the replacements... I decided to try them out even though they looked defective... to my surprise they did perform well... voltage of 22.7 volt open circuit... and under a load they put out 5.8 amps so I kept them... still not impressed with they way they made these panel... they look like grade B panels when your spending grade A American dollars... don’t waist your money... get a HQST or rich solar panel for a lot less... ... show more

  • Size Matters
Size: 100MB
The package was received in good condition. Immediately I did testing. I noticed that the cells appeared very similar to my Hqst flexible panels. The electrical parameters are exactly the same as seen on the info sticker. The amperage seen through a simple renogy pwm controller was marginally higher than the Hqst flexible, 7.2 amps vs. 6.9 amps. The open circuit voltage was .3 volts less than the Hqst panel. As a result during the shading testing, the amperage values for the eclipse were slightly higher but proportional to the overall output. I do not see any significant improvement in performance. In fact it is likely that this is merely a solid panel variant of those flexibles on the market. However, the footprint is smaller by 1.25 inches in length and about .75 inches in width than the flexible panel. Putting the junction box on the back allows a smaller footprint as compared with the flexible. So what do you get for the $30 extra over the flexible? To my knowledge this is the smallest rigid, true 100 watt panel. Personally my travel trailer didn't have enough room to mount the larger 100 watt rigid panels. I went to flexibles out of necessity, they were the only ones that could be used in my system design. There are issues with mounting flexibles and their durability. Now there is a rigid more durable design available allowing for better cooling and secure mounting with an even smaller footprint. ... show more
