Description

Is reMarkable like a regular tablet computer? No, it is a purpose-built digital notebook for distraction-free handwriting, sketching, reading, and document markup. It deliberately lacks web browsers and apps by design to protect your focus. Can I read books on it, and is there an app store? There is no app store. You can read books, but it only supports DRM-free EPUB and PDF files. DRM-protected ebooks, such as those purchased from Kindle or Kobo, are not supported. Is it normal to see screen ghosting on the display? Yes, ghosting is completely normal for E-Ink displays, where traces of previously displayed images sometimes remain partially visible on the screen. It clears when the screen refreshes, so there's nothing to worry about. Why does my reMarkable feel slower than a regular tablet? It feels slightly slower because the display physically moves particles through liquid, rather than switching pixels on and off. This takes a fraction of a second longer to protect the display's long-term health, but is normal. What system and handwriting languages are supported? System languages include English, German, French, and Spanish. The handwriting conversion feature supports over 30 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and many others.

  • Fitting my lifestyle
Size: reMarkable 2 Bundle with Leather Folio
Five stars? Four stars? I think after using the device for a bit what I'm realizing is that it can be a useful tool in my arsenal, but also I can't expect it to solve all my problems. Sometimes in meetings, typing notes on a laptop is frowned upon - I can use a notebook and transcribe later or find another path. The ReMarkable seems to work well as a middle ground. Writing notes by hand, and then converting later seems to work pretty well -- 95% -- whether I'm using ChatGPT or doing conversion via the device itself. I still need to verify the conversion either way but it's much faster than transcribing my notes. The weight of the device is excellent, so much lighter than my iPad Pro. There isn't a backlight, nor is there color, but I haven't found that I need either of those things. Writing is clear and the device is responsive and not laggy at all. The screen refresh is something you get used to and not detrimental to enjoyment of the device -- you slowly grow to understand what actions will result in a refresh, and expect it. Battery life is amazing, of course. ... show more

  • Really good option w/ a small kink or two
Received this yesterday and started playing around with it. So far, it's pretty impressive. I installed the Remarkable2 app on my phone as well, so I can sync them and if I'm at the grocery store, furniture store, or anywhere, I can still open the documents from my Remarkable2 and don't have to carry it around w/ me all the time. It's easy to use. Setup is easy, but wouldn't say it's totally straight-forward. Takes some time to figure a few things out, but then, what tech doesn't have a bit of a learning curve. As of now, the only thing I can say that isn't great (could be my poor handwriting) is the convert handwriting to text option. I created a list in my handwriting and it converted about half of it and got a few things wrong. I am going to play around w/ this feature and see what I need to do in order to convert 100% of my handwriting. I haven't messed w/ any of the other competitors, but know someone who has the Boox notepad. They like it, but said if the Remarkable was the same price as the Boox, he would have preferred the Remarkable. ... show more

  • 2 pen tips in 2 weeks and last time I can't get the old tip out to replace it
I was so excited to try and make this work! Final update on January 23rd. Verified this was delivered to me on January 12th. Seller asked me to go to a different website, initiate a return with a video upload and a bunch of other work! I haven't had this product but 2 weeks and have gone through 2 tips and now I cannot even replace the tip and use this. I wouldn't mind hiving this more time, but it's concerning to see what the process looks like to get replacement parts after a mere 2 weeks! I can't go through this every time because it seems like I will have a problem each week with this unit, as that's how it's averaged. Owned the product 2 weeks. Have had 2 problems with this last one not being something I can fix! It's really disappointing! I loved this when it worked. I have attempted to use this at work since January 12th receiving it. I work Monday through Friday. There have been 2 days now that I haven't been able to use this at all. It's not paying off. I'm going back to my Rocketbook. I will be initiating a defective product return through Amazon as that's why I buy through Amazon. No hassle shopping. So easy! You have to understand in 2 weeks this is my 2nd issue. I don't want to be constantly logging onto a website each and every time I have an issue with this product on order to be believed and have their warranty honored. Rocketbook is lower cost, not as technical so there are less issues! I would not recommend this unless you want to be going back and forth every time you have an issue which could be each and every week! Update - on Jan 23rd I came into work and attempted to use my pen. Once again it would not write. This time, I cannot get the old tip out to write. I contacted the seller. I am ok with assuming I received a defective pen. I would love to give this product at least a 30 day use to see if it's worth it. So far, it's not worth it! Update- on Jan 18th after maybe a mere week of use, my marker tip has stopped writing . It's disappointing to spend so much on a product to have an issue so soon. However, there were plenty of Master tips included and easily changed to have the pen functioning. I am hoping my next tip last longer than 7 days. I had 1 tip in the pen plus 9 extra. I ordered this to help myself keep track of projects in my personal and professional life. I love how light weight and easy this is to carry around. I usually buy spiral notebooks and use those for record keeping. It's can sometimes be challenging to keep up with organizing my paper records. I've been trying to find something to reduce my carbon footprint for my antiquated note taking. I have an injury which hurts me when I type since I type rather fast. I am so far in love. It arrived just today and I've only had a few hours to pay around. I love how smooth it is to write. I haven't gotten to explore all it's features but I'm excited. And I hate buying new cars, phones, laptops, etc. It's very similar feel to electronic reading devices (think Kindle). If you are regularly attending meetings at work it for charity or other events, this would be an ideal investment! ... show more

  • Game changer, but…
This e-ink tablet is amazing, distraction free, paper like feel, and a very premium build. Remarkable did a great job in building their tablets. However for me it is very expensive, nearly $500 for a e-ink notepad and only a notepad is a bit too much and I can only recommend this to a very select few people that I know. This is not for everybody and please do your research before purchasing, there are plenty of videos and reviews on this out there. I am going to return this and see if I can get a used one for cheaper. ... show more

  • Why would they place magnets on a device that suffers from magnetic fields????
It does what it says it does. It also has a problem with magnets. The pen has a magnet in the body so it can stick to the edge of the tablet. The case that comes with it also has some magnets. This wouldn't be an issue if the writing accuracy was unaffected by magnets. As it turns out, the device has an issue with the screen where if you lay the pen on it, or you place it next to a laptop or something that can create even a minor magnetic field, the accuracy of the device will suffer. What I mean when I say accuracy is that when you place the tip of your pen to the screen to write, the lines will be offset from the tip of the pen. This doesn't bother everyone, but it affects every device since they are all the same. You can find the points where the magnetism exists by using a ruler as a guide to draw your lines. Doing this, you can see how distorted the lines are. Again, the only reason this isn't a 1 star review is because the device still functions for me and I can get around it, but I'm trying to practice writing kanji and the inaccuracy annoys me to no end. If I knew this device would have this issue, I would not have bought it. This is a design flaw and as far as I'm concerned, they should be the ones to remedy this with a replacement device without such a flaw. I cannot recommend the purchase of this device with this issue existing. How they didn't see this coming is beyond me. It is completely natural for someone to lay the pen on the surface of the screen, yet doing so will magnetize it and affect the accuracy of writing. For that reason alone, I think the build quality is effectively garbage. I would love it if not for this one issue. As proof, I drew a bunch of lines on my device using a ruler. The lines inside the loop are generally fine, but the ones outside of it aren't straight even though I used a guide. You can fix this with a demagnetizer apparently. Just take the tablet out of the case, remove the pen, and demagnetize the screen. You can buy a blue here on Amazon to do the job. After you do it, if you're careful about other devices and such, you shouldn't have any issues further. ... show more
