This jasper-green Strat-style relic is the second KGD guitar I’ve purchased. My first - a KGD Telemaster-style - was so unexpectedly good, I had to find out if it was a fluke. Spoiler: it wasn’t. This Strat-style model matches the same high standard. We’re talking surprisingly excellent build quality for a price that seems too good to be true. Honestly, for just over $200, I wasn’t expecting anything close to boutique feel, but if you pick up the neck while blindfolded, you might swear the neck itself would cost twice as much as the entire instrument. The neck is straight, silky smooth, and the frets are beautifully filed, rounded, and crowned. A very creamy experience. It’s genuinely impressive. The relic finish looks even better in person than in the product images. Someone clearly took their time here. It has character, without looking too abused or overdone. The stock hardware is perfectly functional, though I’ll likely swap it for aged or relic-style parts to keep the aesthetic consistent. That said, it’s not a must. The factory hardware is absolutely serviceable. The pickups sound surprisingly good. Especially when I crank the gain on my amp. That said, like the pickups in my KGD Telemaster, they run a little weak in output (resistance in the 4.3 to 4.7 range). Still, they’re well-voiced and balanced, and they do the job just fine if you’re not chasing high-output tones. Weight-wise, it’s a comfortable medium - not too light, not too heavy. The nut is a little high and could use some slot filing, and one or two of the lower frets may need a touch-up, but these are minor tweaks, not red flags. In short, this KGD guitar is another winner. I’m already thinking about picking up a third KGD while they’re still available. The question is... which model next?

As many have said, this is great value for the money. I bought it mainly for the relic appearance (green on sunburst) which is great and usually found on much more expensive guitars. The neck is very nice, no sharp fret ends, smooth to play and low action straight from the box. The pick ups are ok and I found that increasing the settings on my Egnator amp really helped. The sounds from the 5 position switch are decent but not as differentiated as with a “real” Fender. I usually only play 3 positions anyway. The neck pick up is probably the weakest but still not bad. All in all this guitar is very nice for the price and I suspect I’ll end up getting a relic Tele as well. I have a thing about relic guitars and it’s impossible to find one at this price point. Having an aged bridge, tuners and cord socket would have been nice but then it would have cost more. Tuning stability remains to be seen - can’t tell if it’s the strings stretching after playing, temperature adjustment or the tuners themselves. Thanks KGD for producing such a cool guitar for a little over $200.

The fret ends are very smooth no sharp edges at all. I play professionally, but I prefer to find cheaper guitars from any reasons. These days I am finding many great guitars at a very affordable price. The green flake paint job looks so good. The guitar overall looks like an expensive custom shop guitar. I will say I have noticed on both of their guitars the pickups output is significantly lower than my squire sonics and other guitars , but sounds good in its own way. They are also packed better than any other company. They come in a completely covered hard foam case pretty much. It's not a case but it's formed to it and it seems to protect it very well. Guitar in video is straight out of the box with no adjustments or upgrades. The only thing I did was lubricate the nut slots with Big Bends Nut Sauce.

Very impressed. I had an itch for a relic’d guitar but wanted something of a “knock around” guitar. I saw these kgd guitars on amazon and figured I’d bite. I’m glad I did! I immediately put some 11’s on it and had to tighten the truss rod ~3/8’s of a turn and the action a great, no fret buzz anywhere on the neck. The frets are very smooth and polished, there is not any “grinding” during string bends that oftentimes occurs with other cheap guitars. Also, the rounded fret ends feels great when moving your fretting hand up and down the neck. The tuners are decent as well. I’ve let it sit for a couple of weeks and come back and while it may be out of tune, it seems to be more a function of humidity and temperature changes rather than bad tuners - consistent with any other guitar that sits exposed. The tremolo bridge is a little stiff. If anything I may experiment with varying the number of springs and spring locations in the back of the guitar to get it to be a tad more slinky. Very cool vibe, love the worn green sparkle paint over the worn sunburst over the mahogany body. I am very happy I purchased. It’s not a custom shop and isn’t custom shop quality, but I also don’t have to walk on eggshells around it like I would a custom shop. I brought it to band practice one night and it played great, sounded decent in our 3 piece. If it was my main guitar I might throw in some hotter pickups but these are entirely functional with some adjustments to the amp settings. I will admit this didn’t take away my desire for a real strat with the classic headstock and the cool factor of owning a US made guitar, but it’s pretty sweet nonetheless.

This is the best budget friendly guitar I’ve ever played, hands down. Obviously it’s no master built custom shop strat, but with some work, it’ll get pretty close. The only complaint I could possibly have about it is the pickups. The ceramic single coils are pretty low-output and lack a lot of low end, but it’s nothing a good amplifier and/or pedalboard can’t fix (they sound SUPER sparkly, maybe ti the point if TOO sparkly). Mine came set up about as well as a cheaper guitar could be: no fret issues aside from the action being a little too low, the tremolo/whammy works really well, the neck has a satin finish that feels great in the hands, it feels and fits exactly like a strat should, and it looks exactly as the pictures show (the color and relic work are amazing, if you’re ok with the plastic pieces being cream colored instead of “aged” of course). If you’re wanting a cheap strat as a modding platform or as a starter guitar, this is a great pick. It seems to match Fender standard specs in terms of hardware, so modding/replacing parts should be a breeze (aside from the neck thanks to the contouring on the heel joint). Swapping out pickups, tuners, and the bridge would make this a BEAST of a guitar. Solid A- grade from me overall. Definitely worth the buy! (Note: I’ve Included a side by side comparison of the KGD strat and my 90’s mexican standard Fender strat. Video demo is the KGD going straight into my Boss Katana Artist Mk2’s clean channel with variation activated, slight spring reverb. Demo video shows guitar as it came to me straight out of the box with no further work done from me other than tuning.) TLDR: Great starter/modding platform guitar, accurate to listing description & pics, 1,000,000% worth the buy (but only if you’re ok with weaker, low output pickups OR changing pickups)

I bought this because I bought the firs KGD guitar had on Amazon with no reviews. Wasn't expecting much, I was blown away! Based on that guitar, I bought this guitar thinking the unknown brand KGD, had gone all out on their first entry Into amazon guitar world! As it turned out my instinct could be considered justified. FYI I'm a guitar collector having 80 or so, are 40 in my living room, majority Les Paul's between 5 - 11 grand Vintage GIBSONS 60 61 62 67 68. Mayor, Jeff Beck, Hendrix strats, Clapton LE 335, Gibbons LE PG, and so on....... This KGD, and I SYN is one of my favorites, YES I REALIZE THIS IS ANOTHER FLUKE! I like the look, 2. And this is HUGE to every guitar player, it stays in tune better than any guitar I own!!!! The neck shape for my hand is perfect, I can't do the thumb wrap on the low E effortlessly! FYI for reasons I can't explain, I locked down the bridge eliminating the whammy bar when I set it up. I was able to to set up the action lower (all the way up and down the neck) than any guitar I own with no dead frets, no fret buzz and perfect intonation! BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! The frets themselves are (wait for it) that's right, PERFECT! Heavily polished like glass, perfectly rounded fret ends perfectly all the way up and down the neck! This particular guitar is essentially ended my quest for the Grail! BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SOUND? I'm glad you asked! This is an acoustic anomaly! Unplugged it has an acoustic almost semi hollow body sound to it that I've never heard before from a solid body guitar. The strings always sound like a new strings were just put on it. Stumming a bar chord sounds incredibly chimey like an old Rickenbacker with tons of sustain. I KNOW! sounds too good to be true! It Be true! believe me now, listen to me lata. I feel like the luckiest Arangatang in all of Great Britain! I apologize to all of you and I'm riddled with guilt and remorse that most likely not one of you will NEVER EVER in your life experience what this feels, plays and sounds like! For this, I'm deeply saddened.... My work is done here and I must be on my way

The guitar body looks great considering the cost it’s a great value. The roasted maple neck is also amazing with its stainless frets. The neck pocket was so perfectly snug, tight and aligned with the neck there was no need to shift or shim it. The cylinder truss adjust at the body end makes it quick and easy to set relief, no worries about stripping out a hex wrench nut. I work on a lot of affordable guitars and the fret leveling on this was basically perfect, I did some polishing but the action is low and it feels awesome. The pick guard was colliding with the bridge plate and the guard was actually prohibiting the trem from moving properly. The included trem has a small block and cast saddles, so I bought the $18.00 Guyker large block, bent steel saddle trem set from Amazon to replace it which was the only added expense to the guitar …and of course a new set of strings. I trimmed the guard clearance so the trem could move freely. Then I cut the headstock just for fun into a slightly shrunken *F* style shape and had an old damaged decal laying around so I stuck that on. There’s no tint on the roasted maple so using a clear finish blended everything right back together. Then relic’d the hardware, plastic and headstock to better match the body which comes with shiny new hardware and parts. All in all after a few mods it’s one of the best Strats I’ve owned. Pickups are ceramic single coils but are wax potted, non microphonic and true to the sound of a classic Stratocaster I won’t be changing them. The tuners feel and function great, no complaints there. The nut was actually bone which has an obvious scent while filing the slots. The trem now works perfectly in a floating setup and stays in tune. Probably could have done that with the original one, but I like the bent steel big block better for the looks and functionality of this instrument. I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. I saw a demo by Roger on YouTube Musicnerdstuff and that sold me on the potential of these guitars. Love it!

Pretty Bad Quality control. The one I received, the neck could not be screwed to sit flush within the neck pocket. Looking down the neck, to the heal joint, there was a 16th of an inch gap on one side, the other side of the neck, the high e string side, was flush, on the low e side there was a gap that could not be made to go away. Also, the nut was sky high, and there was zero effort put into intonation the guitar. It looked pretty. Though, the rounded edges at the heal joint of the body wood were sanded off (in addition to the neck issue). If this guitar would have been as it should have been, I'd probably given it 4 stars. The frets were great, but why finish over a rosewood neck? the trem arm was very cheap, the inlays were not attractive, imo. Again, pretty guitar, but I wanted to enjoy playing it, in addition to look at it.
