  • Excellent rangefinder at a bargain price.
This is an excellent rangefinder at a great price. It's easy to use, and it works very well. I was able to get a solid reading on a cluster of trees 780 yards away. My Bushnell Scout DX wasn't able to hit them. I'm not using it for golf or for hunting -- I'm using it for informal surveying to measure distances to trees and buildings and their heights. For me, providing the angle of elevation and computed height of the object is essential. I want to know how tall a tree is or how high a roofline is. Using this rangefinder, I can just stand off a ways, view the top of the object, and get the line of sight distance, the horizontal distance, and the vertical height of the object. The only request I have is for them to add feet as a selectable unit of measure. ... show more

  • Premium Performance Without a Premium Price
After using high-end rangefinders costing three times as much, I was skeptical that this Red Tiger model could deliver comparable results. I’m happy to report that my skepticism was completely unfounded. I tested this rangefinder side-by-side with some of the most expensive models on the market, taking simultaneous readings to the same targets. The accuracy was remarkably consistent - we’re talking within a yard or two of readings from rangefinders costing $400-500. For practical golf purposes, that difference is negligible and won’t affect your club selection. The build quality feels solid and the optics are clear enough to easily pick up flags and hazards at typical golf distances. It locks onto targets quickly and provides readings fast enough to keep pace of play moving. The display is easy to read in various lighting conditions, which is crucial during those early morning or late afternoon rounds. What makes this rangefinder particularly appealing is how perfect it is for golfers just starting out or younger players getting into the game. You get all the essential functionality you need to improve your course management and club selection without the financial commitment of premium models. It’s an excellent way to see if you’ll actually use a rangefinder regularly before potentially upgrading later. The lightweight design makes it comfortable to carry for 18 holes, and the battery life has been dependable through multiple rounds. For beginners who want to start making more strategic decisions on the course, this provides the distance information you need to develop better game management skills. Bottom line: Nearly identical performance to expensive rangefinders at a fraction of the cost. Perfect for beginners or anyone who wants reliable distance measuring without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • Great value for money. Solid rangefinder for golf at an affordable price.
This is an excellent Rangefinder for the money. I was able to pick it up for less than $100, so really hard to beat when compared to paying $300+ for a Bushnell or other brands. I use it solely for golf, so locking on the flag is the key. On the whole, I really have no complaints. It's extremely easy to use, the sighting is clear, the magnet holds great on motorized cart or the belt clip, and the case is also solid. Just very well designed. You can adjust the sight, as noted, so it is crystal clear. I've played 5 rounds with the unit thus far and the battery still reads at 100%. Charging, when needed, is easy using the USB-based charging cable. One review I saw suggested that you could inadvertently switch the Slope Assist control on or off without realizing it, but that's not been my experience at all. It's not a concern. It's well designed and is sturdy (certainly, sturdy enough for what it's used for). The only reason I'm giving this rangefinder a four, rather than a five rating is because the consistency/accuracy is a bit suspect. I don't doubt that it is accurate when you nail the flag, but I seem to need to shoot it multiple times to pinpoint the flag and get a consistent reading (and even then, how sure can I really be)? It vibrates, but even with that, it's not always clear if it only vibrates when locking on the flag or vibrates anytime in locks on anything. I've taken to using my phone-based GPS as well, just to double-check the yardages and, in general, if I use common sense, I can be confident of the reading, but you can't just shoot and immediately assume it's right. I usually shoot a couple times unless I'm confident of the distance. As I use it more, I suspect I'll get more comfortably with it. In fairness to the Red Tiger product, there are two caveats to this. First, I have pretty steady hands, but when I put the rangefinder up to my eye and try to pinpoint the flag and push the button at the same time, I definitely shake. So, I'm sure that a big part of the reason why I get varying readings is due to my shaky hands. I wouldn't call myself unusually unsteady, so not sure if others will experience the same. Second, I don't have a good basis for comparison because I've never used a competing rangefinder. Thus, I might find similar results if I were to use a competitor's product given my equally shaky hands. Do competing products do a better job of locking on the flag then the Red Tiger? I don't know. I will be checking with my playing partners and perhaps will try using one of their higher cost units just to see if there is any noticeable difference. All that said, unless you want to go out and spend 3-4 times the money for a Rangefinder, with no guarantees that it will work any better, you can't really go wrong with this unit for the price. ... show more

  • Great range finder, even better customer service.
I bought this last year, used it weekly, and it has been great. The range was accurate, glass was clear, easy to adjust reticle, the slope adjustments were spot on. I don't remember charging it once, the whole year. I love the included accessories; the tough pouch, the magnetic belt clip, the cleaning cloth, USB charging cable, D-ring for clipping the pouch to my bag, the loop for the range finder itself - all very functional. The magnet on the casing is very strong, I can just stick it to the frame of the golf carts and it wouldn't come loose despite my sometimes exuberant driving. A few weeks ago, it started having problems of not ranging accurately and the slope calculation disappeared. I called customer service, they sent me a new one along with an RMA return shipment label. This is an exemplary case of customer service and standing behind your product - something that's rarely heard of nowadays. Redtiger has earned my business for life. ... show more
