  • I want to love it (Update: they made it loveable.)
Size: Red Switch Color: Black PRO
Update 3: Over the weekend I started having the issue I see in other reviews where the keyboard would start missing and repeating keystrokes intermittently. This morning when I sat down to start working it was happening frequently enough that it was a genuine problem. Fortunately, I decided to turn it off and on again and the problem has not returned after a full day of working. I am hoping that this is a continued viable resolution. I will continue to make updates over time as things change but at this point, while it would be nice if it were completely problem free, I am still more than happy with this purchase. Update 2: I bought this keyboard again on Cyber Monday because the price was hard to pass up. I am happy to report that my chief complaint has in fact been been fixed. Their description of it sounded more like a bandaid than a fix, but the actual result is exactly what I was looking for. This whole process has ultimately made me more of a fan of Redragon. Great pricing, good products, willing to address customer concerns. I am in. I will continue to make updates if things change and will leave previous comments as well for clarity. Update: I received an email from Reddragon stating they have made a firmware update that resolves my chief complaint. However, I had already returned the keyboard by the time I received it so I have no way to personally confirm. This does, at the very least, negate my "no intent" statement. I want to love this keyboard so much, but one major flaw leaves me at just liking it: missed keystrokes. This keyboard goes into sleep mode in about a minute without use; when you attempt to begin using it again it will miss the first two or so inputs. I've tried it in 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth and there is no difference still a ridiculously short sleep window. I downloaded the software hoping there might be a setting there, there is not. Searches on the internet show that it is a common complaint and it looks like there is no intent on changing it. This hurts even worse because everything else about this keyboard I absolutely love. The build quality is top notch. The aluminum body has a solid feel. They keys themselves feel a little more plastic than I would like, but just barely. It comes with plenty of extra switches of different types so that you can customize the feel for your WASD keys or whatever configuration you prefer. The switches also fit snugly into their spaces leaving little room for gunk and debris to find its way into the innards of the keyboard. The kickstands are solid and firm for those of us that like a little bit of an angle. Battery life is phenomenal, I don't think even with a longer sleep period I would be concerning myself too often with having to plug in the keyboard too often. I have become a HUGE fan of Redragon products over the last year, in fact I bought this to replace the wired version of this keyboard to help reduce clutter on my desk. Unfortunately I can't give this keyboard high praise when the most important function of a keyboard is input and this fails so often in that regard. I hope with all my heart Redragon releases a version of this keyboard that is reliable in a keyboard's most basic function; until then I'll be going back to my wired 556. ... show more

  • A beast of a keyboard!
Size: Red Switch Color: Black PRO
A professional IT guy here, wanted to help anyone out who may be looking for a new keyboard. It's my opinion but I live and breath IT and have decades of experience that I could offer. Due your due diligence either way... This is absolutely the best keyboard that I have ever used at this price point! Are there better keyboards out there? Absolutely there is, however, "better" is both subjective and more expensive! But for under $70? I got the Redragon K556 PRO at $60, and I don't know how much better a keyboard could get for this price. The battery lasts long, even though I use the USB-to-USB-C cable directly to my PC for 99% of the time, and the build is sturdy and of great quality. I have only had it for a couple weeks so far but every day that goes by, I love it more and more. If you are looking for a budget keyboard I would suggest you get this one. The only important thing you should know is to choose the right key switch type for your preference. I got the linear switches (red) and it was way too smooth for my liking, but I could see how others would love it. It was smooth and fast. I like a little bit of weight and feedback so I got some good tactile switches and after installing them I can't find anything to complain about... this keyboard is a beast! Would recommend it to anyone in the market and if it ever broke on me or if I ever lost it, I would absolutely get it again. I would get this one over getting a more expensive one. I could see this keyboard lasting a long time and it is fully hot swappable. If you want a budget keyboard, get this one, I promise you won't regret it! Also, the preprogrammed RGB modes are awesome! I love the responsive ones, where the lights react to key presses. "Fn" + "Ins" keys to cycle through several cool RGB modes, took me a few days to figure out it had this feature. ... show more

  • Amazing company, great keyboard
Size: Red Switch Color: Black PRO
I'm an old-school PC guy. In the 90's, the goal was to keep the keys as quiet as possible to avoid annoying the older relatives as I played Gold Rush, the Ultima games, etc. Now I find that I miss the tactile feel of the mechanical keyboards of old. I own a couple wired mechanical keyboards, but have discovered that no matter how old school I am, tripping over my cables is a real danger to my family. Thus my quest for a great mechanical wireless keyboard began. I've owned the Logitech G613 for a few years, having bought it after what I considered a prodigious amount of research. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. I refuse to make this review about the wrong product, but suffice it to say that there's a reason I now own a K556... The build quality of this keyboard is amazing. I'm fully convinced that if someone broke into my house I could use this thing as a war club and then type up my side of the incident report with it afterwards. I love the software for configuring the coloration of the keys as well; it's fairly intuitive and allows an amazing amount of customization. The fact that I can use it via Bluetooth, 2.4 dongle, or wired is just amazing... I have to admit though, I had problems with the first keyboard I received from my order but that turned into another positive for this review, strangely enough. The first board had some very odd issues: keys would randomly not work, or their input was delayed. My first inclination was to just return the board and say two strikes is enough for me, I'm no one's guinea pig, but I decided to give the tech support a shot. I must say the customer service from Redragon is second to none. They suggested a few troubleshooting steps and when they didn't work, they didn't argue, they simply replaced the board. I'm very pleased to say the new one arrived in record time and works phenomenally well. I really couldn't be more pleased with the performance of the product or the customer service I received from the company. On the one hand, it's awesome when the product you purchase works as intended from the get-go, but once in a while it's a genuine pleasure to learn how good customer service can be. I heartily recommend both this keyboard and the company that makes it! Purchase with confidence! ... show more

  • An absolute great keyboard for the price!
Size: Red Switch Color: Gradient Blue
When I received this board, I knew right away I was going to like it. The weight was hefty and when I unboxed it the look was very nice, and the aluminum was very solid and didn't feel cheap. The whole body is aluminum with a beveled edge which gives it a nice silver shine around the edge of the entire board. It comes with a nice white USB-C cable and flip up feet with a very rubbery boot on the feet. Now, it came with Red Dragon linear red switches that I didn't feel the need to lube at all, along with a bout 6 extras in case you have one go bad which is a nice touch. The stabilizers were pre-lubed, but some better than others so I had to shoot a little in them with a flat tip large syringe, but they had no rattle at all. The keycaps were very nice PBT caps. The color faded quite nice, and the overall look was something I didn't find necessary to change. I kept this board completely stock and is my daily driver at my office. Another nice touch is that this PCB is a 3 or 5 pin, so you're not limited on the pin you decide to go with if you want to mod this up. My only complaint about this board is that it doesn't come in white. ... show more

  • Writing this review from an ancient Logitech K520 if that tells you anything
Size: Red Switch Color: Black PRO
Bought a G613 3 years ago, loved it, it was big it was clicky it was heavy, it did everything I wanted it to do and I changed the batteries twice in 3 years. Then it started double and triple tapping like the G613s will do because of the garbage circuit board inside, so I decided to branch out and try something else. BOY DID I EVER MAKE A MISTAKE! I grabbed this because of the reviews, it looked good, it was nice and heavy, wireless, clicky (prefer browns but red is ok I guess), and I liked the name. Got it super quick (thanks Amazon) and charged it up overnight. Plugged it in and connected right up via 2.4GHz and off we went! Everything went great...for 2 hours. Then I started noticing I was outpacing the keyboard, no biggie, lemme move the dongle closer. Didn't work even with the dongle a foot from the keyboard, I was still outpacing it and I'm not that fast of a typist. Then the real problems started. Oh you want to type a full sentence? Well the keyboard will only give you 4 letters to choose from, good luck! You want to 10key and do some math and spreadsheets? Good luck, the enter key almost worked a few times. The standard "test your keyboard or typewriter" sentence has always been "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." Here's the output from this $90 paperweight: teuuuuuuuu buuuffffdd (that was the best one it did). It got so bad that 4 hours after I had originally connected it and it was working fine it wouldn't send a single signal (say that 10 times fast) to the computer. (Yeah I did all the troubleshooting steps, c'mon I'm old and crotchety not stupid) I guess it's good if you want a really heavy nightlight that turns off after 3 minutes (nice feature actually) but otherwise stay as far away as you can from this pile. It pissed me off so much I went and paid actual money for a "renewed" G613 KNOWING that I'm gonna get ddoouubbllee ttaappppiinngg letters. There were some cool stickers, and the wifey collects stickers, but just no. Not gonna have that reminder of absolute abject failure cluttering up my house. tl:dr - Don't buy this, it sucks so bad I decided to go back to my busted G613 that literally died 30 minutes later from an unrelated issue (dang cats) ... show more

  • Good keyboard, but not perfect
Size: Red Switch Color: Black PRO
This keyboard is pretty nice, but has a few minor things keeping it from getting five stars. First, the good. It has a nice weigh to it, so it won't slide around on the desk as you type or play games "excitedly". The keys are responsive and a noticeable improvement over traditional membrane keyboards. The keys have a nice smooth resistance to them, without being overly difficult to press. They make a satisfying, but somewhat subdued, "clicky" sound when typing. Others have mentioned a metallic ringing, but I get none of that. I have mine on a very large desk pad (think oversized mouse pad) so there is little to no vibration between the keyboard and the desk. The keyboard comes with the key pulling tool and a few extra buttons. This is nice as it allows the end user to replace buttons that may wear out prematurely. The bad. The LED lights behind the keys are not very bright, even at the max setting (in the separately downloaded software). I have yet to figure out if there's a way to sync the LED patterns with my other RGB parts. As of now, it doesn't look like there is. So making a matching RGB pattern requires using their separate software. Charging from a wall outlet can be finicky as it has to be in a wireless mode, and sometimes doesn't show to be charging when the keyboard goes to "sleep". The biggest of my annoyances with it is the font and the placement on the keys. Most keyboards have a very easy to read font that is centered on the keys. The font they chose here looks "cool" at first, but you realize it is harder to read than a traditional plain font. Additionally, the character placement is at the top of each key and not centered. This means that "shift" characters are beside the main character and not above, as on most other keyboards. This font choice and placement can make typing a bit slower as your brain has to use more processing power to index your fingers on the correct keys. It's sounds strange, but I would prefer a dull, boring font, as that would make it easier for traditional typing tasks. Still, those are minor, and subjective, complaints leading to removing only one star. Overall, I am pleased with this keyboard. As noted above, it is a marked improvement over traditional membrane keyboards. Time will tell if the battery lasts and what the overall durability is, but for now, I plan to keep this one for a while. ... show more

  • Missing parts. (Updated) Awesome customer service!
Size: Red Switch Color: Black PRO
I'm thrilled to share my experience with Redragon's customer service and my new Redragon K556 PRO Upgraded Wireless RGB Gaming Keyboard! From the moment I received the keyboard, I was eager to dive into the world of gaming and productivity, and I must say it hasn't disappointed me at all. The first thing that impressed me was the exceptional customer service from Redragon. After discovering that some items were missing from the box, probably due to mishandling by the shipping company, the seller and Redragon contacted me right away. Not only did they respond promptly, but they were also extremely understanding and resolved the issue quickly and at no cost. Their professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction left me speechless. Now, let's talk about the keyboard itself. It's simply amazing! The tri-mode connection technology is a real game-changer, as it allows me to use the keyboard in three different ways: USB-C wired, Bluetooth 3.0/5.0, and 2.4Ghz wireless mode. This versatility makes my user experience unparalleled and allows me to enjoy all activities to the fullest, whether gaming, work, casual browsing or connecting with many devices. The fact that the keyboard is compatible with TRUE HOT-SWAP is a standout feature. The ability to freely and effortlessly change switches is just awesome. Plus, the unique design of the switch socket structure ensures easier and more stable installation, with no wobbling. The keyboard features an original aluminum plate that not only gives it a sleek and premium look but also ensures exceptional durability. The typing feel is incredibly smooth thanks to the Red Quiet+ switches, this is a clear and crisp typing experience, with no annoying noise. And, of course, I can't forget to mention the impressive lights!, the keyboard becomes a visual spectacle while gaming or working. You can adjust brightness and flow speed directly from the keyboard is really convenient, sorry I did not to adjust it for the pictures. In summary, the Redragon K556 PRO Keyboard has exceeded all my expectations. Not only is it functionally excellent, but it's also aesthetically stunning. I'm excited to explore all the additional features it offers, (like Pro software for customization). Overall, I'm completely satisfied with my purchase and can't thank Redragon enough for helping and providing me with exceptional service and a high-quality product. I highly recommend this keyboard to anyone looking for a superior typing and gaming experience. It's truly a pleasure to have it in my setup!" ... show more

  • Best keyboard I've ever used
Size: Red Switch Color: Black PRO
I have to preface this by saying that the images do NOT have original parts. The pudding keycaps, the switches, and the cable all did not come with this. This came with the regular Redragon keycaps, Redragon switches, and the regular braided cable. And this is better than the Keychron I was just using. The only one available at the time of ordering was red switches, which I'm not a fan of. I immediately swapped to Gateron brown, which was extremely easy. Some keyboards are a nightmare to pull the switches out of. The only difficult one was the numpad enter key because I didn't want to mess with the stabilizers. Every switch came out unbelievably easy. A lot of keyboards also have bare PCB which the switches go into, which is really easy to scratch with a switch. This one has some shielding and plastic guides for the pins, making screwing something up and damaging anything during switch replacements really difficult. The bottom case and the plate are both aluminum. Wicked hefty, wicked sturdy. As for connectivity your options are Bluetooth 3, 2.4 Ghz USB-A dongle, and USB-C physical. All are very stable. The program for it is also really nice. Macros are very easy to set up, every key is able to be changed, there's a ton of RGB settings PLUS per-key lighting, and even audio-reactive RGB settings. This one also does physically reactive lighting very right. A lot of keyboard have RGB that reacts to input but it's basically an animation that resets at every keypress. As an example some that do the ripple effect clear and make a new ripple every keypress. The physically reactive effects for this keyboard stack. Multiple ripples happen at the same time while typing instead of the whole keyboard going dark and starting the animation over for each key. The LEDs are north-facing but in my opinion it makes the effects way easier on the eyes than south-facing. Instead of light pointing directly at you it's forced to reflect back, making effects a lot less harsh and a lot more smooth. And very early on I managed to turn on some setting on accident that enables Winlock by default every time the keyboard starts. I couldn't find anything about it online. (if someone comes across this with the same problem, hold function and escape for 5 seconds) Support was very helpful and responsive. Overall this keyboard is top-tier. I'd highly recommend it. ... show more
