Top Amazon Reviews

  • Serious competitor for RGB mechanical keyboards.
Color: RGB LED Backlit
This review is for the Redragon K555 INDRAH RGB LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard . TL;DR │ This is gorgeous for the price. It reminds me of Corsair's keyboards. If you are looking for a simple RGB mechanical keyboard which does not rely on any software bloat, this keyboard is your best bet. Not only is it cheaply priced, it does have true on-board memory⁽ⁿ¹⁾. The only thing you might find lacking on this keyboard is that it does not have a switch equivalent to a Cherry MX Green⁽ⁿ²⁾, based on the actuation force required. It uses Outemu Blues, with clear housing. It still is however, orgasmic to type on with its clicks and clacks. Contents: Intro │ What I Like │ What I Don't Like │ Package │ Notes │ Verdict - - - - - I have owned a couple of mechanical keyboards with real Cherry MX switches (blue and brown) from brands like Roccat, Corsair, and Cooler Master. I know what a mechanical keyboard feels like. Once you go mechanical, you never go back to membrane. For a while, I've been looking for a good RGB keyboard. I found this keyboard because I was searching for "Cherry MX Green". I want to add Green to my brown and blue (because I like the tactile feedback). It is not Cherry MX Green or its equivalent, and was thinking that I might have to return this keyboard after I confirm this. However, that did not happen, and I kept this keyboard. WHAT I LIKE │ + │ + Very simple to set up. Intuition and common sense would guide you. + No software bloat!⁽ⁿ¹⁾ + TRUE on-board storage/processing of profile and macros.⁽ⁿ¹⁾ + Very inexpensive for the build. Trust me, I'm an engineer. + Black brushed aluminum finish. + Double-shot injection keycaps. + Anti-shine keycap texture. + Floating keys! Easy to clean, and looks fantastic with the under-lighting. + The switches have clear housing, accentuating the lighting. + Detachable wrist rest. WHAT I DON'T LIKE │ × │ × Not cherry MX Green equivalent, as advertised. × Not user-definable full range RGB⁽ⁿ³⁾ × Not removable and/or nylon-braided USB cable. × G-keys and multimedia keys are not mechanical/backlit. × CTRL, WIN, and ALT keys are the same width. PACKAGE │ ✓ ✗ │ ✓ Aptly priced keyboard ✓ Detachable hard plastic wrist pad ✓ Printed materials ✓ Neat box, bubbles wraps and more plastic. ✗ NO Keycap puller ✗ NO Keyboard cover - - - - - NOTES ⁽ⁿ¹⁾WHY THE "TRUE" ON-BOARD MEMORY IS IMPORTANT With a "true" on-board memory, the lighting, macro, and key-strokes you save are stored INSIDE the keyboard, and are executed there too. It does NOT need Windows to be running to execute them. It has its own on-board processors to do it. What are the benefits of this function? ▶ For macros, there will be no lag/delay since it will not be dependent on Windows software. ▶ You can use it anywhere. Even in the lock screen, before "running" Windows. ▶ Need to change computers? No re-installing of drivers and software required. ▶ Works flawlessly with virtual machines and remote desktops. To put in perspective, Corsair, Razer, and Logitech offers these keyboards at TWICE the price, but they do not even employ on-board memory. It's like buying a more expensive laptop with integrated graphics versus one with dedicated/discrete GPU. It baffles the mind. ··· ⁽ⁿ²⁾NOT CHERRY MX GREEN? ▶ I tested it using nickels (US 5¢). Each nickel weights approximately 5 grams. My Cherry MX Blue keyboard actuates at 55-60 grams (11-12 nickels). A Cherry MX Green keyboard actuates at 75-80 grams - a full 20 grams more than the blue. This keyboard actuates anywhere from 60 to 70 grams. A bit heavier than Cherry MX Blue, but not as heavy as Cherry MX Green. It is much closer to a Cherry MX Blue. In fact, the switches clearly shows that they are Outemu Blue, which are on point with the scale. ⁽ⁿ³⁾NOT FULL RANGE RGB? ▶ While the LED's are RGB, the user cannot set it up to show any light as you would in other RGB keyboards. It has only 7 pre-defined colors that the user can set for each key. It still does however, show the full range of RGB colors when using any of the animations. Note that this is not a problem, unless you need to show 50 shades of grey. - - - - - VERDICT: I highly recommend this product. ★★★★☆ | 4 stars out of 5. I really wanted to give this a five star rating. The only reason it lost a star was the inaccurate description about it being equivalent to Cherry MX Green. They should just put Outemu Blue in the description. Questions? Hit the comments. • WARNING: Multimedia keys replaced!
Color: RGB LED Backlit
The top-right row of multimedia keys are no longer multimedia keys! Now they're random PC tasks, like back and forward in your browser, opening Explorer, and putting your PC to sleep! Those are worthless keys to me, now, and I was really looking forward to using the play/pause/volume controls that are shown in the images. Those were a big factor in why I chose this keyboard, and now they're replaced with functions that have far less importance. I would not have purchased this keyboard had I known. ... show more

  • An honest all-rounder
Color: RGB LED Backlit
When I first got this keyboard, my first impression was very mixed and here's why: * Has true RGB but the modes are limited to what is pre-set on the keyboard; * Is mechanical, but lacks the "tactile feel" of cherry keys (I own two other cherry keyboards - brown and blue). This means I have to basically "bottom" each key press to hear/feel the actuation in the switch, whereas with my 2 other cherry keyboards I can feel it halfway through and the overall force is less and smoother. This is a keyboard for heavy bottom feeders and there will be more mistakes until you get used to it; * Has LED but is not that bright - my other keyboards I have to use less than half brightness whereas this one is max and still not that bright and because there is no plastic surround around the keys, the light bleed makes it look a little cheap at night like a $20 dome keyboard; * Macros are the fastest Ive seen (my other 2 cherry keyboards also have macro) and very easy to program with onboard memory which means you can take this keyboard to work secured computers that dont allow you to install software, but you are only permitted 8 keystrokes including shift and ctrl and when recording on the fly, you cant see what you are typing on screen; * Has multimedia and macro keys (including one for calculator!), but they are not LED and are small so you still need to look and important ones like volume you need to press FN first; * Truly no special drivers or software required, but then if you want further customization its not possible - you are limited to what is pre-programmed; and * The price is very good, but then it is built to the price: the keyboard rocked a little. As you can see, every pro has a limitation - basically its built to the price. It didnt do anything in an outstanding way, but yet gave enough honest features (though the 8 key macro limitation needed disclosure). Thats the key - its a good feature set for a mid-priced keyboard, and thats why I kept it after A LOT of thought as I'm very fussy with my keyboards as I constantly use a number of different keyboards and any flaw is constantly noticed. If you dont appreciate the RGB and macro (surprise and delight factor), there are probably better keyboards but for me it did enough to get a pass for the mid-range price. The unknown is the long-term quality but they seem to make enough keyboards and seemed well enough designed to take the risk. ... show more

  • Redragon has become a solid choice with incredible VALUE.
Color: RGB LED Backlit
I wanted something similar to Cherry Green key feel. I don't care too much for RGBs... maybe it's because I've never had one with wide programmability? I don't know. It's nice to have, I guess. It's as bright or soft lit as you'd like and the etching isn't getting ruined anytime.. if ever. The keys are perfect for my needs. The included keypuller works well. The base of the keyboard isn't aluminum, but it is a very, very firm plastic. It will not flex. Basic RGB profiles (with surprising depth) are built into the keyboard firmware and there is no additional software required. As with other Redragon offerings.. there is a tremendous value here. I really love this keyboard. It's making me forget all about my Microsoft Sidewinder X3. ... show more
