  • Great Quality
Nice quality net. Has a foam handle and foam inside the cloth rim so will float if accidentally dropped into the water. The net mouth is a good size for bass fishing. The folding mechanism works well and, with the handle retracted, it essentially folds in half, making it easy to keep out of the way. We fish in a 10' Bass Raider, so space is always limited. We got the 20" deep net and it is really deeper than we need and, on reflection, we probably would have preferred a bit shallower net, but that is on us, not the product. The net itself is rubber coated, with no defects and really good consistency in the manufacture. We find that the mesh this size does sometimes result in the hooks getting tangled in the net, but with the rubber coating it is just a matter of untangling it and not ripping the barb through fibers. The telescoping handle is awesome and lets you reach the fish and not have to guide it with your pole into the net as much as with a shorter handle. Plus, depending on how far it is from the side of your boat to the water, the longer handle can be a must have. Nice quality net the telescopes down and fold to be out of the way but within easy reach or stow easily. Very impressed. I will also say that this is my second Pristis product and have been very impressed by the quality and attention to detail of both. ... show more

  • Well Designed and Constructed
This landing net appears to be made out of very good material and has a quality "feel" to it. When fully extended, it feels firm. The net itself is made of rubber and the meshing is small enough to snag bait fish as well as land a decent sized catch. It is also fairly lightweight, and I can't imagine anyone struggling with it. It has a very convenient clip on the pole as well as a wrist strap with a carabiner so you can attach it to just about anything. It did take me a minute to figure out how to fold it. There is a round latch type device that needs to be pulled straight down, and the net will collapse toward the handle. When locked in place, the net is firmly locked in place. This is a very good item! ... show more

  • Great for kayaking
There are a couple of things I love about this fishing net as a kayaker. First, it is telescopic and it folds over making it easily stowable when not in use. It is simple to get it ready to use and it is surprisingly sturdy once it is extended. The second thing I love besides its ease of portability and storage is the flat bottom. I have never seen a net with a flat bottom on it but this makes it so easy to grab the fish out of it and my tackle seems less likely to get snagged up in the net when landing the fish. Overall, this is a great fishing net that is perfect for people fishing from kayaks. ... show more

  • Large collapsible fishing net
This fishing net is large and I would dare say too large. For something that is supposed to be portable it is still too cumbersome even when folded in. Net is also a little too deep. Although I guess it is better to be too big than too small. The net as well as the hoop that the net lines is very sturdy and the netting is robust and has a good coating over it. However the handle and pivot point are lacking. The pivot point only locks when open I would like it to lock when close. Also I would like a little more contact between the handle and hoop as if you do catch any large fish I see this has a huge failing point. Telescoping screw lock is difficult to get started and it does not slide well. Screw is also backwards. I was trying to turn it left to loosen but it is actually right to loosen. Does have a very long cord with a cheap carabiner. There is a hook on the pole which is how I will hook it to my backpack when we walk out to the lake to fish. Here is my Pro/Con list... Pros Net is solid and has a good coating Net hoop strong Collapsible Telescoping pole Belt/backpack hook on pole Neutral Net hoop large Net depth large Too large for me to consider easily portable Hanging cord too long Cheap carabiner Cons Pivot point not enough contact between pole and hoop for a solid connection When folded the pole does not lock in Screw for telescope is difficult to untwist and is backwards ... show more

  • Great That It's Compact but Much Wider Than I'd Like
I've been trying to get into backpacking out to lakes in Utah, set up camp, and go day fishing. I was excited to try out a fishing net that I'm able to strap to the outside of my backpack. At about 1.5 lbs it's light enough to not add much more weight to my pack. The net feels durable enough, the telescopic pole seemed a little loose but sturdy enough to hold up. The net mouth itself however is ridiculously large. The purpose of being collapsible is somewhat defeated when the mouth of the net is so big. It still straps onto my pack easy enough but takes up a lot of area. Not quite a deal breaker but do get out a tape measurer to ensure this is the size you're expecting. Seeing the size listed in the details is one thing vs actually checking how big that would be in reality. ... show more

  • Finally a net for my kayak
So I fish a lot and one thing that I didn't have for the longest time was a net that I could use while out in my kayak. This net fills all my requirements as a catch and release fisherman. It has a soft rubber coated net that is deep for large fish. It has the ability to use it with a short handle or and extended handle with out having to change out the actual handles. It feels really nice and sturdy. Combine this with a Kayak paddle holder and you can rest the net where you need it to be while fishing. I can't believe I waited this long to get a net, but I'm glad I did. By the way, this is actually the second Pristis item I have reviewed and I have to say that so far they are killing it with quality products. ... show more

  • Wanted to have a compact fishing net for my kayak. This filled the need
So this is a good quality that has a collapses and also his compact enough to store away somewhere I can backpack or a kayaker boat stowaway. Really strong net that I am looking forward to keep on using for fishing trips to come. I suppose this could be used for catching butterflies for grasshoppers or whatever, but for fishing this fits the bill and is a good piece of equipment for a good value.
