Description

You flip the switch and drop the fully charged Blackout XTE to the ground. Clutching the pistol grip in your left hand, you squeeze the foam steering wheel with the finger tips of your right hand. Your eyes squint as you focus on the path ahead. Squeezing the trigger, you hold your breath as dirt replaces the air around you. All of life’s worries fade away as you focus on the path directly before you. Your peripheral vision blurs as the only thing that seems to matter, in that moment, is the precision of your steering and the finesse of the trigger. You accurately steer the Blackout XTE 4WD monster truck exactly where you want it to go. Excellent performance and innovative chassis design make the Blackout XTE a unique vehicle. Its chassis utilizes many swappable components such as; suspension arms, steering hubs, hub carriers, turn buckles, gear boxes, differentials, and body posts. Each of the four suspension arms on the Blackout XTE can be used at any corner of the chassis. That's right, one lower suspension arm will work on the front-left, front-right/ rear-left, or rear-right of the vehicle. The same is true for the upper suspension arms and steering hubs. The hub carriers are interchangeable front to rear, as are the bumpers, diffs, gear boxes, body mounts, and turn buckles. Equipped with a powerful 550 brushed electric motor, waterproof 40A brushed ESC, 7.2V 3000mAh NiMH battery pack, NiMH charger, and 2.4GHz radio system, the Blackout XTE is pre-assembled and ready to run. This incredible vehicle provides loads of excitement, at an affordable price, while continuing to save you time and money in spare parts. Oil filled coil over shocks and four wheel independent suspension allow the Blackout XTE to keep its composure over rough terrain, as you’re blasting around the yard, vacant lot, or race track. As the battery nears the end of its charge, you pull the Blackout XTE to your feet. Your finger tips slowly loosen their grip, your chest relaxes, and you hear the sound of air releasing from your lungs. It’s as if all of reality begins to surround you once more. • Hobby grade, and half the price.
Very fast, very sturdy, fun to drive and watch. Large 1/10 scale is worth it. Ran it over tall grass, up steep hills, and ramps off of rough Terrain and Ditches. Not a rock climber but can climb over almost anything, so my kids and I don't get stuck on anything... except when it flips when going too fast. About 20 to 30 minutes drive time with stock battery, i bought a second 3800mah red cat battery and am glad I did. The included charger takes approximately 8 hours to charge a battery, but if you have two batteries then it's not so bad. Just remember to let the motor cool down between batteries. Although stock replacement 550 brushed motor is available for only 15 bucks on Amazon. In addition it is compatible with lipo 7.4 volt batteries at the switch of a jumper. After I ran into a tree and my house several times, the stock servo started to grind. I don't know how long until it would have given out, but I went ahead and purchased a Metal Gear servo from Redcat Racing for 20 bucks. Easy to work on, hobby grade parts, all replaceable using Allen wrenches and screwdrivers. Should this one catch on fire, explode, or get ran over, I would buy it again. ... show more

  • Great Buy!
I wanted to say that I was very impressed with this RC truck, ESPECIALLY at this price. The truck looks great, and expensive. Personally, I enjoy the much larger ones (I own a Traxxas X-Maxx) but I bought this one for my son. For a brushed motor this thing is quick and powerful and just wants to bash around. The quality is as good, if not better, than ones that cost twice as much. The adjustable suspension allows you to change the ride height and it's built sturdy. Redcat Racing gets a bad rap sometimes online, but I think the people that write bad stuff about it don't know what they're talking about. Like other reviewers have stated, in the RC hobby things break if they are abused or if you drive them into a tree at 25 mph, but sometimes you do that and you drive away, it doesn't matter what brand it is. Overall this truck is a win. Great look, great suspension, good tires, great design, and above average build quality. If you can spare a few extra bucks, the brushless version is even better. Want to make a kid (or adult for that matter) happy? Buy this truck and work your way up. I don't think you could get more value for the money or more fun! ... show more

  • Best Rc Car Ever
This is the best rc car I have ever had! I am an rc collector, and I can say that this car stands out of my collection. I've tested it with my gps, and it is very fast, at 35 mph! Also, it is very durable. I have taken it on ramps and crashed it hard. Though, it never breaks. The engine heats a lot, and sometimes, you have to let it cool down. But, that has never been a problem to me. The battery is a Hexfly 3000 milliamp hour (mah) battery. The only problem I have with the battery is that the wire insulation is coming apart on the end of the wires. The electronics are water proof. I drive this car in water that is higher than the car's tires. Though, when I am done using it, I dry it off. YOU HAVE TO DRY IT OFF! If you don't, then some of the screws and part of the shocks start to rust. I learned the hard way, but if it does rust, then you can take a wired sponge and scrub the rust off. This car also has an awesome body. I get compliments about it every time I use the car. (I put some extra stickers on the car for looks.) I also recommend buying new body clips, because you can lose them VERY easily. This is the best rc car I ever had. Definitely recommend buying it. ... show more

  • Great car for a beginner or the weekend backyard brawler! !!!!READ IF YOU HAVE STEERING ISSUES!!!!!
Ok a little history first. Back in the day I used to race these things back when I was in High School and some in college a bit. Fast forward 15 years and I now have my own 11 year old son. His experience with RC is limited to the cheap little ones that you find at Walmart and Target for less than $100. I decided for Xmas that I would buy one a bit more expensive to make sure he's interested AND get experience before we take the plunge and buy a full-on racing truck. My point is, I know a bit about these and the test subject here is an 11 year old with extremely limited experience. Right off the bat, this thing broke, with pictures. My dad (his grandpa) has a known habit of LOVING all things RC and tends to play with them first to "show you" how they work. My son was at my parents on Xmas day when this opened and as he did to me for many years, my dad decided to show him. Unfortunately for as much as grandpa loves these things, he's not that great at them. Instead of going right to miss the curb, as the car was going at him, to show off, he went left and full-on smacked the car into the curb at full speed. This caused damage to the chassis as pictured. Replacement was only about $15 though and again, these things happen. THIS CAR GOES FAST AND IS NOT INDESTRUCTIBLE. IF YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING TO GET SOMETHING YOU CAN RUN AT 20-35MPH INTO SOLID OBJECTS AND EXPECT IT TO SURVIVE, YOU'RE NUTS! Anyways, so the chassis came and we replaced it. He then ran into our second "problem". This thing has a servo-saver, which is basically a spring attached to the steering servo (motor that makes it go left or right) so that if you smack into a curb or rack or building or cat at full speed, the spring will allow the steering linkage to tweak without breaking the gears in the servo. Naturally hee has run into a number of things as he is learning to control the truck. Once this happens it's an easy fix in that you unscrew the steering arm from the servo, reset it so it sits between the springs and then screw it back on. Takes 3 mins tops, most of the time is spent getting the body on and off. Despite the servo saver, he still managed to damage the servo. It's got a 3kg rating and he definitely rammed thing at more than 3kg of force over and over again. We spent $10 and got the 6kg servo now and it's been smooth sailing since as he gets better. This is a learners car or an EXCELLENT backyard brawler. Again you can't run into things 20-35mph and expect it to survive every single time. I highly recommend getting a 5000maH battery and charger...so you have two packs and can run them without having to recharge for hours and then getting 15 mins of playtime. In conclusion, this car was more than enough fun to remind me that I missed and loved the hobby. I'll be getting my own truck soon enough so I can join him and teach him how to race with other people on a track as well. For the cost as well as "fun factor" out of the box you really can't go wrong. ... show more
