The Iron Rangers in Hawthorne Muleskinner with Vibram 430 mini-lug soles recently dropped steeply in price and I scooped them up. I already own a pair of Iron Rangers in the venerable Amber Harness with the nitrile cork soles, and they proved to be comfortable, fashionable and durable. This new pair doesn't disappoint. The construction, color and comfort is mind-blowing. Break-in was fast and painless. As usual with Iron Rangers, I sized down from my Brannock 13D to 12D, and the fit is perfect. In my opinion, the most versatile boot money can buy: work, play, style - they make me look and feel and work better. Goes great with chinos, jeans, work pants, even shorts. They have no major weakness. I go to great lengths to buy USA-made at all costs, because we still make the best, you just have to spend the time to look around. I am a minimalist and a true materialist, in that I want the fewest number of apparel and footwear items of the highest quality possible, and these boots fit that philosophy perfectly.     • Red Wing Iron Rangers - They Make Life Better
I bought the Iron Rangers, and they are the second pair of Red Wings I've owned. I love the 6 inch work boots that were my first purchase. These surpass even those. I ordered two pairs of these because after I made my first order Amazon was offering them for less. So, I'm returning one pair. The ones I'm returning however have a defect.. The left boot's sole is incorrectly placed. However, the other pair are absolutely perfect. And such defects will happen with any product, and thus they don't affect my five star review. These feel fantastic right out of the box, comfortably tight and as though they'll just be around forever. They smell great, they hold my foot firmly but comfortably, and they look fantastic. They're as comfortable as my Birkenstocks, and they are a boot. Compared to many boots, they seem pricey. But when you know Red Wings, and understand what you're purchasing, it is very worth it. These will carry you far longer than two or three pairs of other less expensive boots. Size down half a size. Drop the dime, and do it. ... show more

I love these boots. I ordered a size big enough for me to wear wool socks over my regular socks. Then I applied two applications of Huberds Shoe Grease (no animal grease product). Then I just started wearing them. No blisters, no problems, no worries. They're soft and creamy, but they also provide a firm sole that protects my feet from too much bending. I'm a Land Surveyor and need my feet to make a living, and these boots really answered the call. ... show more

I've worn countless pairs of boots, from western style (Ariat's, Justin's, etc.) to Thorogood's to high end service boots like Viberg's, so I'm no stranger to how a boot should break in. These are rugged (and great looking) boots but they just feel awful to walk in. It literally feels like there's a rock right underneath the ball of my right foot. I tried another pair before returning and swapping for these and those had it on the left side. I'm convinced they have QC issues and are leaving staples or nails to poke up underneath the leather insole. You might luck out and not have that issue, I don't know, but I kept reading reviews online about how tough the break-in is so I stuck it out. Now I'm stuck with them. $300+ dollars down the drain. Save up to get some White's or Viberg's. Literally night and day difference. ... show more

    • Find the proper size
So I have owned a few of these boots. Sizing is everything with getting the proper fit and break in for these boots. I normally wear a size 12 in shoes but I sized for a 10.5 in my boots. Fit perfect with enough space for my toes to wiggle around the way I like them. Some might say the 10 size would be better but not for my feet. Every foot is different so I would suggest you try to find a local redwing store like I did in Jacksonville FL and the 10.5 fit perfect. ... show more

I bought these for my husband, and what a fantastic pair of boots - just gorgeous! He loves them so much. They’re tts, only size up 1/2 a size if you’re planning to wear inserts. (inserts not necessary) This boot will get even better with more wear. The suede will age beautifully. Well worth the price! ... show more

The boots aren't the same as the photos provided. I was hoping the boots to have speed hooks like it shown on the picture. It turns out to be all eyelets. I am a bit disappointed and have to return them
