  • So much fun!
Color: Red
I got this for my children, who are 8 and 4. We love going on road trips, but sometimes they get tired and start bickering after a few hours in the car. So I thought that this might help with that. My 8 year old is also at the stage where he has homework every weekday, and this will give my 4 year old something to do during that time. When it arrived, I decided to check it out a little before giving it to the kids. Cut to several hours later, and I was still playing with it. The graphics are very low key and simple--kind of like something that might have been popular in the 80s. But I think that's partly what I like about it. It feels retro. When you first turn it on, you come to a screen with about 20 game options to scroll through. If you click on the "games" option, it takes you to another screen with several categories. And if you go into those, you find lots of other games to play. I took some pictures of the various categories and how many games are available in each of those. I played several games from each category before I finally tore myself away from this. Some are better than others, and there's a good mix of games for older kids and younger kids. For example, there are several "games" that are just pictures of items, and then it tells you what it is. For example, a picture of a book that says "book." And there are letter games and basic number games. Those might entertain my older child for a few minutes, but he'd move on from those quickly. However, my younger child might enjoy those, particularly with a little encouragement from me. And it could definitely help him learn as he plays. There are some really lame games, like the one where a woman is cooking. Pans and bowls pop up with ingredients in them, and there are utensils hanging up behind her. You have to scroll through and pick the correct utensil for her to use for the dish. The pans and bowls are very small, and I couldn't decipher exactly what was in them, so I wasn't sure what utensil was needed. Long story short. . . That game was pretty boring. But luckily there's over 200 games. And most of the ones that I played were a lot of fun! The car racing game was fun. The blocks game was also interesting. And there's matching games, and sudoko, and all kinds of other games that will remind you of popular, well-known games. They are perhaps a bit more basic and simple than the more well-known versions, but these are great starter versions. With that said, my kids definitely get a kick out of this game console, but they aren't "gamers." My older child gets to play a few games at school on his laptop during breaks, but we don't play games at home. My younger child is new to gaming. So they don't have any standards or expectations of what to expect. Kids who are more familiar with gaming might have different expectations, and they might not enjoy this as much because of how retro it is. They might find it a little basic. Another thing that I should mention is that with over 200 games, it would take a large instruction manual to explain how to play all of them. The manual tells you how to get started. But you sort of have to feel your way around this console to figure out how to navigate all of the different games. To me, that was part of the fun. I am not into gaming, but figuring out how to play the games was a lot of fun for me. And so far it's been fun for the kids too. They've gotten frustrated a few times with some of the more complicated games, but in general, they have had fun with exploring it and figuring it out. This keeps them entertained for as long as I let them have it. That is awesome to me. The console itself is really cute. It's a great size. It's easy to switch on, and I love that the sound is controlled by a big knob on the top. I can reach over and turn it down easily. I like the red color. And it came well packaged and without damage in a box that is cute and perfect for gifting. It's rechargeable, and it comes with the charging cord. And it lasts for a long time on a charge. I am very happy with this gaming console, and I would recommend it. ... show more

  • Pleasantly surprised!
Color: Red
Pleasantly surprised by this handheld game console! Small enough to fit in the palm of my grandkids’s hands, but found my husband playing with it quite often! I anticipated the graphics being black and white like the old handheld games I had years ago, but was surprised to find they were quite bright and vivid in color, realistic- Ish, and fun for everyone that used it. The sounds that accompanied the games were cute, and I appreciated greatly that the volume could be turned up and down with the knob. Another great fact was the rechargeable cord. I dislike toys that require batteries because every time we would want to use it we would need to change a battery. No more! The battery life on this rechargeable item seems to last quite some time. We charged it initially and have not had to do so even after hours of play. We purchased this for our grandkids because they had often wanted to play games on our phone. Rather than allow them to use our phones, this is a great way for them to be able to feel like they have something a little bigger than the size of a phone but more appropriate for kids. This is great for on the go or around the house. I can’t say that I agree with 220 games, it seems like it has may be around 50 but maybe there is a setting we haven’t found yet. That said, it still has a large variety of games that keeps everyone entertained. ... show more

  • so much nostalgia for the adults; so much fun for the kids!
Color: Red
This kids handheld game console is great! Perfect blend of nostalgia for adults and entertainment for kids. no need for Wifi for this gaming console, which is perfect for my youngest child who doesn't have a phone with cell service or hotspot. There are so many options with 220 pre-loaded games. They are fun to play and with that many games, there is something for everyone. There are little buttons for little fingers, making it easy for young kids to play. It fits in their hands comfortably. The screen is small, but it has good graphics for what it is. It's perfect for long car rides, plane rides, doctors visits, etc. Would be a great birthday or Christmas gift. 5/5 satisfied with this purchase. ... show more

  • Fun kids toy
Color: Red
Definitely a little quirky. If you hit the reset button in the middle of the console, it WILL reboot immediately. Even when in game. There are a LOT of games on this console (I didn’t count, but I did see over 100 at least). The ones I played were simple. I’d probably recommend it for someone 6-8 years old. A pre-teen is likely going to get bored pretty quickly. I also noticed it has a removable battery (battery model BL-5C) and charges using USB-C from the top of the console, which is great. Overall, for $35 this is a great kids toy. Definitely worth the cost. ... show more

  • Probably best for Up to 10 years old
Color: Red
This comes with a lot of built in games. I tested the racing game and the mine game. The main game is like minesweeper. The racing game is just a basic racing game and you try to pick up coins as you go. This is a great toy for a very young children up to young teenagers. The older the kids get the more they want to name brand toys, and this is not that, but the games are fun easy to play. Today’s price is $34.99, which is reasonable for this toy ... show more

  • Not what I expected
Color: Red
The media could not be loaded. This is a handheld device in red, which does have a lot of gaming on it. It is a great travel and held game that doesn’t require batteries or the Internet or Wi-Fi. This is lightweight and I believe not of the best quality. The screen is small and the charge does not last as long as it should. I would’ve preferred this this device to have less games and the games to have better graphics. ... show more

  • A good idea for kids going on trips.
Color: Red
A very nice distraction for a road trip or a plane ride. So many games to choose from. I should mention though, the educational games and activities are for a much younger age group, perhaps a 5-6 year olds. The games, however, can be a good fit for a 6-12 year olds as they vary in difficulty.
