I obtained this Reborn baby doll for my mother who has end-stage Alzheimer’s disease. Ironically, it seems my mother has experienced a rebirth of sorts. The doll is incredibly lifelike, soft, and cuddly, evoking a strong nurturing instinct. This is exactly what I longed to provide my mother. The doll comes complete with clothing, diaper, birth certificate, head ribbon, pacifier, and baby bottle, all presented in a beautiful box. While slightly darker than pictured on Amazon, the doll is even more stunning in person. My mother's home attendant remarked that it’s the cutest doll she’s ever seen. My mother has not spoken in over a year, my mother hums contentedly most of the time, occasionally grunting. Astonishingly, she has become deeply attached to the doll. I witnessed her reading a storybook to it and even heard her say, “She is a beautiful baby.” This was a groundbreaking moment as she hasn’t spoken in complete sentences for more than a year. If you have a young child or know of an adult with dementia, this doll could spark creativity, imagination, and enhance social-emotional development.
