  • Works great on several wood varieties, but others not so much.
Size: 1 Quart (Pack of 1)
Works amazing on knurled walnut countertops, walnut knife handles, zebra-wood, red oak, and Brazilian walnut. However I tried it on knurled maple and it hardly took at all, even with sanding and water brush application. Granadillo, and blood wood went well and gave it a richer color, poplar though did not seem to take well. Unfortunately I failed to keep pictures of the red oak and poplar. The product is made from citrus and tung oil and rated safe for food surfaces such as counters and cutting boards, and looks great on the walnut countertops. I love the citrus scent but it can be overpowering and I would recommend that you use the product with an open window or well vented area. One quart will go a long way, however pending on the porosity of the wood that may vary. On the countertops I used 4-5 coats and used about a gallon over all, re using the used lint free cloths on the consecutive coats helped. Knife handles made from knurled walnut and other woods worked very well and gave an almost iridescent tiger's eye appearance. In all I recommend the product if you dislike harsh chemicals, but some woods may have results that are less than desirable. ... show more

  • Don't hesitate
Size: 1 Quart (Pack of 1)
This product is amazing! Love that it's food grade safe and super easy to apply. The finish looks beautiful!! I had originally sealed our table with a polyurethane mix.. after an accidental burn to the table I sanded it and started all over. I chose to seal it with this product so I had the ability to sand a small section (for the occasional accident) and refinish it without having to do the entire table. I can honestly say I like this finish better than the stain+poly I had used originally. It looks so natural and elegant and is easy to clean and maintain. ... show more

  • Wonderful product and company!
Size: 1 Quart (Pack of 1)
LOVE this product and this company. We used for our butcher block countertops and couldn’t be happier with the result. Love that it’s food safe! The smell is good, citrusy and bright. We are looking into buying more products from this company for future projects. Love that it comes pre-mixed and we didn’t have to do that ourselves. We are absolutely in love with the results we got. Easy to apply and seems very durable. ... show more

  • DARK HALF IS MAGIC
Size: 1 Quart (Pack of 1)
When I first started my kitchen renovation, I was absolutely positive I wanted granite countertops. Even when completely renovating it myself, my budget didn’t afford me the opportunity for them. I turned to butcher block and was certain I would be acquiring some dark and rich walnut for my countertops. As it turns out, the only thing in stock on the day I needed them was a builder-grade oak. I settled, though disappointed. I searched the internet for a food-safe oil that met all my criteria. I wanted a food-safe stain that could protect my countertops, effortless application process, but also bring out the beauty of the wood. I have a bit of OCD when it comes to finding the right product. I research, read every review, scour the internet for pics. I did not settle for the Real Milk Paint Co. Dark Half. Through my research, I believed it to be the best on the market. I can honestly say this is the best product I have ever used. I have used the “popular” brands for many home projects but I will never go back to those products after applying Real Milk Paint Co. to my countertops. The beauty, depth, richness that the Dark Half brought out of the oak is stunning. Even after a water incident, the tung oil mixture performed beautifully. This stuff is happiness in a bottle. After almost a year, my countertops look and feel incredible. I recommend this product to everyone who comments on my countertops. You will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • A great natural finish for wood
Size: 1 Quart (Pack of 1)
I needed to re-finish an oak bathroom vanity that was looking dreadful. Time was an issue, so I decided not to do the traditional routine of sanding, stain and topcoat. I searched online and learned about oil finishes and was intrigued. I chose this product due to it being of natural ingredients like Tung oil and non-toxic, that could be easily applied. My first impression while opening it was that it had a very powerful aroma. Not bad, just very, very strong. It has a good viscosity while pouring and mixes well with a consistent color. I applied it to the vanity with a bristle brush and rubbed it into the wood with fine steel wool. The natural turpentine in this mix did two good things, it lifted the remaining old color from the vanity and allowed for easy penetration of the mix into the wood. I left it to dry for 48 hours, then applied a second coat. The only problem encountered was the smell. The odor lingered for close to a month. As i said before, not a bad odor, just a very powerful one. If using indoors, I'd recommend applying this product more so in the warmer months. That way windows can be left open to fully ventilate the area. Aside from the smell, Real Milk Paint Dark Half is a great product to use. it is safe, natural and can be re-applied as needed. Pricing is fair for the amount that you get. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Strong smell, beautiful color.
Size: 1 Quart (Pack of 1)
Love this oil! My countertops were very dry. I had to use 5 coats overall. 4 coats were needed, waited the 24 hours and then did the 5th. Barely anything soaked in so it was good to go. I sanded after the 3rd and 5th with steel wool. Looks and feels amazing. It does have a very strong citrus smell. Hubby loves it, but it's been over 2 weeks since I applied and it still smells like an orange grove in the trailer and garage. It's not so potent anymore, but I'm not sure how long it will take for the smell to go away or if it ever will. Gave it a beautiful natural brown color with dark red hues. ... show more

  • Great for butcher block countertops
Size: 1 Quart (Pack of 1)
I did a lot of research on how to finish my butcher block countertops. I knew I didn’t want them shiny and after working with polyurethane numerous times, I felt like it would be too time consuming. I also knew I didn’t particularly want to always cut on the counter, but I wanted it to be safe in case I did. After reading multiple blog posts, I decided to go with Dark Tung oil (half solvent, half oil). It went on easy and it smells lovely. I painted it 3 coats with a cheap chip brush and let it dry in between coats. I’m in love. ... show more
