Inserted correct SIM card (Mint Mobile). Started setup, tried to use speaker phone to hear. Speaker barely worked, sound cut in and out, and when it worked, poor quality. Then the call was dropped abruptly. Any attempt after to get back to the activation line, every single time the call was dropped. I literally got the phone delivered that very hour, and in less than an hour, started return process. If it can't work out of the box, not about to trust it again. Needed a phone to text and talk with clients as our office system would not support texts. $5 sim card and this phone worked out well. It is a basic smart phone, but the price was right and it easily fits in a jacket pocket and works well. long battery life and it came with everything we needed.

    • AVOID THIS PHONE - FAKE QUICKSTEP LAUNCHEER
Within 15 days of starting to use or resetting this phone you will start receiving full screen pop-ups that will not go away no matter what you do... Reset, new launcher, apps to eliminate pop-ups, etc... Reddit is flooded with complaints about this phone and other cheap phones with the Android 11 Go OS but specifically the problem is a fake version of Quickstep, which is the phones launcher. I could go on with some really technical jargon but save your money and I'd recommend put it toward a mid-level phone with Android 12 or above. ... show more

I got this phone to use as a backup when my primary phone died on me. It is unlocked, so I was able to switch carriers with this phone. It is a decent smartphone, bit don't expect anything near top shelf. Reception is decent, easy to set up and use, worth getting if you mainly want a phone with some internet capability or as a first phone for your child or a backup. Price is good and it works as it should. It just doesn't have the horse power to do a lot of apps at once and is a bit slow to load pages, otherwise a.nice phone. ... show more

I needed a cheap smartphone just to make some calls, reade emails, bring along my google drive docs and, occasionaly, use it as a navigator with google maps. For less than 60 dollars this RCA Reno fills my specs very well and is a real bargain. Furthemore the screen is a mere 5 inches and the phone fits easily in any pocket. It is unlocked and works very well with an inexpensive Mint mobile sim. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a solid and no frills alternative to the fancy do-it-all, supersmart, superbig screen and quite expensive cellphones of today. ... show more

    • Do Not Buy - Design Flaw w Battery
You can read the other reviews and see that lots of people had issue with the battery. It immediately, within a month, stopped working, and I was unable to charge the phone. I contacted RCA, and they were not helpful at all - also in other reviews of this phone. Luckily, I was in the return window with Amazon, so Amazon customer service was helpful. It appears that not all of the phones fail, but impossible to know whether you will get a bad one. If you get one where the battery doesn’t crap out immediately, the phone is fine. But if you get a bad battery, the phone is useless. So why roll the dice? There are cheap Motorola android phones that don’t cost much more, and you’re better off with another phone because RCA is not going to be helpful if/when the battery fails prematurely. ... show more
