I couldn't be more pleased with this winch. its got the most pull rating out of all the rc winches, the looks and detail are INCREDIBLY realistic, and it mounts very easy. I bought the rc4wd warn wireless setup with it and it all fits in and on my axial wraith perfectly. I have it mounted on the proline ridgeline bumper(narrow, tires rub on the wide at full articulation on the wraith). the only thing I didn't like is that the winch line that comes on it is kinda thick and they barely put any on the spool. not too big a deal though, I went on lockeduprc.com and got 16 ft of 100 lb winch line of thinner and better quality for 6 bucks shipped. with the new line I put approx. 105 inches of line on the spool and still had room for maybe one more full wrap. other than that it is a MUST HAVE for any crawler. oh ya, one thing they don't tell u is that it has a limiter into it so where as it may keep pulling ur rig, when u release the button on ur winch controller, it will slowly spool back out till the overload of stress is released. which means no run away car. also, replacement motors are only 10 bucks and it only takes 4 screws and 5 minutes to change. low repair and maintenance costs. and lastly, replace the brass pins that hold the rollers on the front with machine screws and nuts, they are hollow. the pins break off easy n ull lose a roller. do it ahead of time. ... show more

awesome looking winch! installed onto my gen 8 scout II. few things made for a difficult install: the mounting plate wasnt designed for redcats bumper. secondly, the included 2.5 mm screws were too short. with some brain juice, was able to mount it to the gen 8: - reversed the mounting plate so its facing the opposite direction - retapped the holes to 3mm (dont have 10mm m2.5 screws) - drilled into the bumper to accomodate new screw sizes - sanded down one side to accomdoate the motor. with the winch control module (seperate purchase), the winch works and looks great! pros: - winch is rugged - very functional in winching thigs - lotta good detail, and includes a sticker sheet and tow tag - feels of good quality cons: - not a direct fit, but that was expected overall, super happy with how it looks. ... show more

Winch came packaged nicely. With the decals and features it looks real. This was one more upgrade to my highly modified Gen8. I have a front metal bumper with a cable guide built in, so I removed the guide from the winch and fed the cable thru the bumper guide. The screw holes did not line up, but as planned I used servo tape to mount it. I hooked it to a RC4WD Z-S1089 Wired Winch Control Unit. I am using a DUMBORC X6 with a 3 position channel to control it and it all works great. If your looking to add a winch I would definitely consider this one. ... show more

Has plenty of power have no issues with it other than the rope started to Frey right away after little use and had to make new holes in the bumper for mounting all around I would get it again

It's good looking and its powerful enough to feel like a scale winch should. Save yourself some trouble and just order the rc4wd controller for it. Cheaper chi ese options just dont work. I've tried 3 now lol.

I have been using this for my DIY snowplow and it is holding up to specs from what I can tell. I have not done any actual data collection on this but from what was described and what I've been seeing; I am 100% satisfied for a winch in this class. It has gotten damp (not submerged), lifted modest piles of snow (15" x 7" plow), and operated in 0 degree weather (if that matters?). I have not seen any fault and it has treated me well so far with the 2-3 hours it's been snow-tested. I do know I have about a 4 or 5 pound blade assembly and with the snow, it has been able to pull and hold it without slipping/drifting back down. ... show more

Awesome looking and performing winch. Plenty strong for my TRX-4 Defender. Other than having to change the plug for power to work with my second battery install went smooth. Oh yeah, shipping was super fast for me.

First thoughts upon arrival; Bigger than the other 1/10 scale winches, however the scale appearance is remarkably close to the real thing. For the winch controller it requires the consumer to purchase it separately. However, I had a couple 3R winch controllers laying around. Just switched to the (JST)plug on the winch to work with the 3R controller. Plugged in a 2S LiPo 1000MAh for small planes so it's can be conveniently stored onboard to save space. This winch won't be doing any heavy pulling because I mounted it to my transport trailer for an airboat and Twin Hammers. ... show more
