    • Very impressed!
I usually sew/assemble my own costumes because I think store bought costume kits are overpriced for the quality, but this Halloween I just didn't have the time, so I bought this based on other reviews and I have to say I am very impressed, especially for the price (about $35). I've bought costumes before for twice the price that look nothing like the picture on the package, are poorly sewn to the point of being unwearable, and are made of materials that are uncomfortable and seem like they'll fall apart the first time you wear it. Not the case with this costume. It is almost exactly as pictured, with the exception that the tights are a transparent beige, as other commenters have noted. All of the seams are sewn very well and the materials are comfortable and of decent quality. I had to tug the boot covers pretty hard to get them over my boots (size 8), but I was never concerned that they were going to tear and they fit perfectly. The garments are designed to fit the proportions of a normal human being, unlike other ones I've purchased that look like they were made with a vaguely humanoid alien in mind. I'm a size 8 dress, 5'6", and weigh 139 lbs. and ordered a medium, which fits very well. The dress hugs all of my curves in a very flattering way, with the exception that the top of the back is slightly loose, probably due to the fact that my chest is slightly small in proportion to the rest of my body. Other commenters mentioned that the dress is very short, but for my proportions, it's not any shorter than pictured. The main complaint seems to be the mask, and I can see why. It fits over my eyes correctly, but it's made of a pretty stiff rubber that digs into my eyelids. However, I found that if I just wear the mask over my glasses it fixes this problem and looks fine. If you're lucky enough to have perfect vision, I would recommend buying a cheap pair of sunglasses or reading glasses at the drugstore, popping out the lenses, and wearing the mask over them. I think the costume works great as is, but if I had the time I might have glued on some extra fake ivy to jazz it up a little. Reading the other reviews really helped make my choice, and I'm very happy with my purchase. I was trying to make my own Poison Ivy costume, but I started looking at costume options on Amazon, for something that I could add onto. This costume came with the most for my buck, and had pretty good reviews, especially in comparison to other Ivy costumes. Everything is just as I expected, after reading the other reviews. Very true to the photos...if you have the same body as the model, haha. I bought a large, I weigh somewhere in the 150lb range(mother of two young ones)....the costume has some stretch and definitely fits to every curve, but it's adjustable at the bottom for length/amount of ruching...and if you're worried about a little rounder belly, it's still flattering and can be made even more so with the addition of the proper undergarments. The footless tights are a little on the whiter side, but work perfect if you have pale legs. The printed ivy on the tights is pretty flat looking, but that could easily be changed with addition of faux ivy leaves glued over or some puffy paint even, just for a little dimension. Not sure why so many people complained about the mask, it looks fine on me when adjusted correctly, out it's made of a rubber material. The add on train is out I'm buy trying on with a green rope, the rope part isn't awful, but I'll probably embellish mine to name it look more vine. The glovelettes fit well. The overall green and hold shimmer of the costume is lovely. And I can't yet speak for the boot covers, because I done have boots to try them on with yet. Overall, awesome purchase, you get a lot for your money...with prime, you get super fast shipping. Hopefully, my review will help others make there decision...best Poison Ivy premade costume on Amazon, that won't break the bank. As a plus, California Costumes donates a $1 of the proceeds from your costume purchase, to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation(which I didn't know until after I received the costume)...I love that though, even got a pin. My mother beat breast cancer, and I think it's wonderful when companies course to donate toward the research, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. ... show more
