Cirmine RC Cars 1:14 All Terrain Off-Road RC Truck, 4X4 Waterproof Monster Truck with 2×1300mAh Batteries This remote control 4x4 racing truck is really fun to use, for adults or teens. It comes with almost everything needed to run, just needing 3 AA batteries (NiMH rechargables work great) to get started. Charging the batteries takes a few hours each using the supplied charger and it is only a little disappointing that 1 battery only lasts about 15-20 minutes of runtime depending on how much full-throttle I use. The truck itself is well made with virtually every piece being modular and replaceable. The instruction manual lists replacement part numbers but does not indicate how to order replacement parts, nor do they seem to be available from what I could find. It is slightly fiddly to remove and replace the battery since 4 cotter pins must be removed and replaced in order to take the body off for access to the battery. Once the top is off, replacing the battery is a simple matter of flipping a retaining cross bar and pulling the battery up and pushing in a charged one. The controls are responsive and the remote reaches a long enough distance that it can be hard to see which way the truck is facing depending on the lighting conditions. The controller has left/right trim and maximum speed governor adjustments which help make the truck easy to control. It is powerful enough to pop a wheelie from a stop (depending on traction) and can perform power slides, donuts, and if rapidly reversed then accelerated can even flip itself over despite the wheelie bar. I can't judge the speed, but 40km/hr top speed seems about right. It is pretty durable and has survived jumping off and over curbs, accidentally ramming into planters, and the like. I don't think it would last very long under harsh abuse. It is recommended for ages 8 and up. I would worry that aggressive 8 year-olds might break it pretty quick. Given the apparent difficulty of finding replacement parts, I would recommend against being reckless. It isn't quite fast or capable enough to be a "real" hobbyist car in my opinion, but it is a good inexpensive intro to RC racing to get to know if you want to spend more money on a more complex and faster kit from one of the big names. It is easy enough to control that running it indoors is totally fine. It doesn't leave streaks or rub marks on my hardwood floors, although it is a good idea to wash off the tires when going from outside to inside to avoid bringing in grit that could cause scratches. The truck has a separate braking feature from reverse which takes a little getting used to. The forward direction is very responsive, but when switching from forward to reverse, it will first brake and then if you release the trigger and re-apply it in the reverse direction, it will reverse. This makes it a little tricky to execute 180 spins but with some practice I managed to get pretty good at it.

This thing is fun. A moderate value gift for my son at Christmas. usually when these things say "high speed," I roll my eyes a little, but this thing is actually fast. I was pleasantly surprised by the speed and the overall quality right out of the box. My son absolutely loves it. In fact, he bought a much more expensive car from a hobby store a while back, and this one honestly beats it in quality. The remote control alongside the truck is a little on the lighter side, feeling as though the weight doesn’t match its performance. But the real reason for emphasis on positives for this rc car/truck is the same reason the makers of this car deserve an award—is the body clips. If you have ever owned an RC car, you know the pain of those tiny metal clips flying off when you hit a bump, never to be seen again. This car solves that. Each clip has a little rubber tie permanently attached to the cover. So, if a clip gets knocked loose during a crash, it doesn't vanish into the grass; it just hangs there attached to the shell. It is such a small detail, but it saves so much headache. As for the battery life, I can't give a full report on outdoor range yet because it's the middle of winter here, so we’ve been restricted to indoor driving. But so far, we haven't even needed to recharge it yet, which is a good sign for battery life. I recommend for speed and quality.

The media could not be loaded. This RC is not quite Hobby grade, but I think it is a very high-grade toy. It does have the ability to remove and upgrade many of the parts like the shocks, motor, ESC, but its not really laid out to be upgrade ready. The batteries are proprietary design and not what you would see in a hobby grade. That being said, it certainly is much better than your boxed RC cars that you would pick up at Walmart or target. This is a very fun little RC car, and I was surprised by how durable and agile the little thing is. It has a brushed motor and scoots along pretty fast for its size. The tires are really cool monster truck looking design and grip really well on dirt and grass though not so much on concrete or asphalt. But that does allow you to slide it around. They are pretty soft and feel like they have a little air in them making them a bit bouncy, but overall, really good, I think. The shocks are just springs really and you can see this in the video as the little car bounces all over the place. A cheap and easy upgrade would be to put oil shocks on this, and it would solve that issue. Honestly though, most kids would not even care. I think any youth would have a blast with this RC for many years just as it is. It is plenty fast, true 4wheel drive, has fully proportional throttle and steering and looks great. I had a blast running this around my front yard and jumping off the little RC ramp that I have. I always keep several RC cars charged and ready to go for when my grandkids come over (gives me an advantage for being the favorite grandpa) I have several larger much more expensive RC cars that are true hobby grade. I love to tinker and upgrade those. I may even do a little upgrading with this one. If you want something that is fast enough to be fun, but not so fast the kids will break it right away and is not just another lame toy RC, I think this is worth a look!
