I wanted to like it. I really did

I've gotten two laptops and returned two laptops. Unfortunately the quality control at razer is very bad. Both of the machine I got had at least one (2+ on the second unit i got) stripped screws. So if you intend to upgrade this laptop don't bother with this one, find a different one. At almost $4k I expect to be able to take it apart and install new ram / ssds. This is part of the appeal of razer devices. I didn't have this sort of trouble with my Razer blade 15, so I'm not sure what's going on with razer these days. They also cheaped out on the packing. The nice inner box with the magnetic lid is gone for this model. It's a low quality cardboard junk box now.

$4300 LAPTOP SCREEN DEAD IN LESE THAN 30 DAYS!!!! WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER RAZER.

Absolutely unbelievable. Every laptop I’ve had from razer has had some issue that fell under warranty. I assumed that the stealth blades weren’t their highest end products so perhaps that was the issue. Now I spent $4300 on this/ their top of the line 2800 super max — this 17” pro and the screen completely died within the first 30 days!!!! I adjusted the angle of the screen slightly and the screen went black. I returned it to the working position and the screen was visible. I moved it back to the black screen position — and now it won’t turn on for any number of resets and angle readjustment! It was about a 1” arc range that triggered the failure in a totally normal use angle. I use this machine for my work and now I can’t use it!!! And their RMA process takes over a month!!!! (I know because of my 2 other razer laptops that had issues within weeks of owning). This is entirely unacceptable. Clearly their entire line has problems. I will never take a risk on these nor give them the benefit of the doubt again. Further, their customer service is the biggest headache of circular outsourced customer service nonsense I’ve ever experienced in my life. It took weeks to even get an rma approval on my first two laptops. I’m not looking forward to this next headache. UPDATE: 3 days after I opened my support ticket with razer I still got no response... and instead received a message telling me that I hadn’t responded to the ticket and it was going to be closed! They never reached out or replied to me! Only let their automated system try to end the ticket because they completely refused to even read (or respond to) my ticket!!! Pathetic on the level of fraud! Absolutely ignored fulfilling their advertised warranty!

Multiple issues within the first 2 days

Second update: I got a third replacement, had many software issues out of the box but after a few hours of Google and forums I fixed every issue. A bit ridiculous that even the third replacement wasn't workout properly out of the box, but at least no hardware issues. Update: received my replacement, out of the box flicking screen, literally unusable. will be returning this too. Such horrible quality control! Overall first impressions of the laptop were a big WOW! High quality and sturdy, top of the line laptop. Beautiful screen. However, I've had issues with it since the hour it came out of the box, flickering pixels when the laptop comes out of sleep mode. Drivers not being able to be installed, and on the 3rd day, the screen not turning on. The external monitor would work and the laptop was on, but the laptop display was black and did not turn on. A very frustrating experience for a 4 grand laptop, will need to get a refund or replacement.

Extremely Slow and Unstable WiFi out of the box

To start off, I REALLY want to love this laptop. the build quality and display are absolutely stunning. Great 10th gen CPU and the RTX 2080 SUPER is blazing fast. Unfortunately it's been an absolute nightmare getting WiFi running properly. I have a $200 chromebook next to me that gets almost twice the speed on my 5ghz network. Most of the time on the Razer i get around 60-90mbps when I should be getting about 170-190mbps.. Often the speed will randomly just slow down to about 1mbps. I have tried reinstalling drivers, tweaking driver settings, etc. and still no improvement. I'm going to have to return this if I can't get support to iron things out for me. Beware before purchasing!

All Hail The King

When I decided to buy this laptop I fully expected that I would get an awesome piece of kit. But instead I got the King of laptops. What Razer has managed to do here is amazing. This laptop is heads and shoulders above the Alienware 17 R5 that it replaces. It games with ease, it edits video with ease, it handles everything I've thrown at it with ease. All the while amazing me with the a 4K, 120Hz LCD that is not of this earth. Way to go Razer!

All Hail The King
