  • Defective touchpad and incompetent customer support
UPDATE: The touchpad on the laptop is defective and varies in the extent of how bad it is. I sent to Razer customer support and they claimed they couldn't find the issue. I got the laptop back and the issue reproduces multiple times every day. I even have 5 videos of it captured now. The touchpad fails to detect touch from a finger and the cursor won't move as you move your finger on the touchpad. The customer support ask the same questions multiple times such as to send a video of the issue happening (they've asked 3 times now) and what windows version I'm using. I wish I'd never bought this laptop. The quality control at Razer is not good and neither is their customer support. --- Gorgeous OLED screen. Noisy fan that seems to be always used with gaming. Good performance when plugged in. Terrible keyboard and touchpad - touchpad frequently stops responding while I'm moving the cursor and then I need to lift finger off and put it back on. The keyboard just feels wrong and I can't adjust to it - my macbook pro, thinkpad, and mediocre acer laptop have way better keyboard feel than the razer. Horrible battery life. Nice build quality but does show finger marks really easily. Speakers are ok but pale in comparison to macbook pro. Windows gives broad gaming catalogue. Touchscreen is rather laggy for scrolling but that might well be an issue with Windows. I like the led lighting on the keyboard. The OLED screen is very bad for reflections - it is not usable if there is sunlight coming from behind you but looks great if no sunlight. Overall, I'm very happy with the laptop despite the many negatives - I think gaming laptops have a tough compromise and typically have lower build quality compared to macs. I use an external keyboard and gaming mouse and keep it plugged in almost all the time. The gaming performance is great for me. However, it is a very irritating laptop to use if I use the keyboard and trackpad and the touchscreen is rarely used but I was expecting that. I chose the OLED for the screen quality and find it great for watching movies as well. UPDATE: I took a look at the keyboard more closely to see why it seems so problematic for me. It has a different position for the keys compared to other laptops for the bottom row. You can see this by looking at the 'N' character position under the 'H' and 'J'. On typical keyboards, the 'N' is right in the middle whereas the Razer puts this to the left. As someone who touch types, I cannot get used to the Razer keyboard and keep missing keys so I never get into a flow typing. I consider this a disastrous keyboard - the worst I've ever used on the many many keyboards I've used over the years. It seems rather moronic to adjust the relative positions of keys 'A' to 'Z'. I think this might have been fixed in the 2022 version looking at https://www.xda-developers.com/files/2021/12/Razer_Blade_14_002.png , but my 2021 version seems to match the 2020 one with a foolish position for the 'N' key https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/razer-blade-15-2020 This makes the laptop unsuitable for typing anything of significant length and will frustrate the hell out of you as you keep missing the key you are looking for on the bottom row. I'll also clarify that the performance of the laptop is not good when the power supply brick is not powered in. Windows seems laggy to use. In summary, the laptop is great to use if you use it like a desktop and avoid the keyboard, touchpad, and keep it plugged in all the time. Otherwise it will be frustrating and disappointing. ... show more

  • Battery issues
I bought this because I wanted a thin small but powerful laptop. Turns out that to make it small and thin, Razer skimped on the cooling system. This sometimes results in a swollen battery that bricks the laptop. This is a known issue and there is currently a class action suite in the works. When this happened and I sent it in (1 year and 4 months after purchase) razer quoted me a price of $2600 to “fix” my $3600 laptop. I took it to a repair shop in the Philippines who diagnosed the problem (no replacement battery available in the Philippines) disconnected the battery (so now laptop is no longer portable) and it works fine. They charged me $80. I learned a very expensive lesson: never ever buy anything from Razer again. ... show more

  • High Quality
What I use this machine for: CADD & Gaming. Pros: This machine has a stunning display (4K 60HZ Model) It can handle anything you throw at it with ease (11th gen I9 / 3080). The Razer Synapse interface is user friendly. Extremely thin for the power it brings. Room to upgrade the SSD & RAM. Cons: Battery life is bad (45 min - 2 hours depending on what you're doing). But this is expected with the size and power this machine has. Fans can get a little loud, but nothing serious. It gets hot, but not to the point where you can't touch it like some people like to exaggerate. (I ran multiple games for 6+ hours straight on full/ultra settings for my heat test). Conclusion: This thing is expensive, but in my opinion it brings a lot to the table and is worth the money. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5, but that is not an option so I decided to round it up. ... show more

  • A powerful, but very hot laptop that was delivered with a faulty graphics port.
Good points: This machine is very, very powerful and can handle ANY game thrown at it. The machine itself looks rather nice, and for the power inside it, is very thin. Bad points: The machine runs very, very, very hot. On playing Diablo 2 Resurrected, parts of the case became so hot you couldn't touch it. The machine arrived with a faulty graphics output (see picture) which means it has to go straight back to the Razer folk for repairs (I am out of the US for a few weeks and I cannot send it to Amazon from here). Build quality is evidently an issue here. ... show more

  • Don't Blame issues with nVidia - Windows 10 is mostly to blame.
The hardware has been amazing. Laptop build is as close to Apple as you can get with a Windows Device. Its my first Razer product and I am very happy with it. That being said - there are a LOT of little bugs and issues here and there. BUT they are not hardware related - that's the big difference a lot of people aren't saying in their reviews. As an example, I have frequent issues with Out of Memory errors when using Adobe and Windows Office Software. The RAM isn't even close to being maxed out. It's good old Microsoft Windows coding that is causing me to reboot the machine daily. I am waiting to see Windows 11 mature a bit before upgrading. ... show more

  • Awesome laptop. Quality and performance. Of course, it is not cheap, but it is worth it.
The Razer Advanced 15 is hands down the most advanced laptop I've bought so far and it did not disappoint me at all. The Flight Simulator runs smoothly and without problems (its installer offered me the Ultra definition even with the laptop in balanced mode). The 4K OLED monitor is a plus to watch movies optimally (you can opt for a lower definition but more frequency if your goal is only gaming). And yes, at maximum workload it turns very hot, but within the appropriate parameters for this machine. ... show more
