  • A great typing experience with a few drawbacks
The media could not be loaded. There’s a lot to love about this keyboard: - Fancy unboxing experience (better be, especially at this price point!) - Braided USB A -> C cable with USB A adapter (to be used with the USB A hyperspeed receiver - Crazy theoretical battery life (your mileage may vary, based on frequency of use, LED useage/brightness, polling rate, etc) - Super bright LEDs + shine through keycaps that let enough light through make for a pleasing light show. - Switches are super quiet on their own but the overall typing experience has some volume to it. It *sounds* more like clicky than it does creamy or “thocky” It’s not as loud as a blue type switch but your colleagues in adjacent desks will be able to hear you type - Love how the roller can click. Neat! - The keyboard can still be configured, with Synapse, in bluetooth mode. I noticed a lot of “budget” keyboards kneecap a lot of software features when switched away from their 2 GHz wireless dongle - not this keyboard! - The AI button & circle multifunction button can be reassigned as well (single click, double click or triple click) - The AI button is a pretty neat feature & allows you to access chatGPT or microsoft CoPilot So what keeps this keyboard from getting a perfect 5 star score? I have a minor gripe and a major gripe that keeps it from perfection. - Minor gripe: the volume roller is made of plastic. This is unfortunate, as there’s plenty of keyboards priced well below this that use a metal, knurled knob that feels more premium than this. The fact that razer used plastic here feels like a silly corner to cut, especially when the keyboard has a nice brushed aluminum finish to it. - Synapse 4 software. Having already had this software installed on my machine for other Razer devices, this made the keyboard act all screwy. The volume roller now acted as if it was a mouse wheel, despite there not being new assignments to the roller. Force closing Synapse 4 reverted the keyboard’s roller back to what it should be doing. Re-launching the software turned the roller back to a mouse wheel. I fixed the software issue by... 1) uninstalling *all* razer software on my machine 2) Rebooting computer 3) Reinstalling Synapse 4 4) Rebooting computer (problem persists) 5) Uninstalling using revo (so there’s no leftovers in my machine’s registry) 6) Rebooting my machine 7) Reinstalling Synapse 4 8) Rebooting my machine (problem is solved) So… it’s certainly fixable… but given the high price point of this keyboard & that it’s coming from a name brand, this doesn’t not make for an overall good customer experience. I have similar, brand-adjacent keyboards & the software is nowhere near as buggy as it was with Synapse 4 & this keyboard. That all said… if you compare this keyboard to the Logitech G515 TKL low profile (seems like it’s the closest competitor to this keyboard), I prefer the Black Widow V4 TKL low profile because the RGB performs better & the overall typing experience. Just be prepared to do some troubleshooting with Synapse 4. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ... show more

  • Nice, low profile, wireless gaming keyboard
If you are looking for a gaming keyboard with low profile key caps, this one is pretty awesome! We've always loved Razer products and, like the others, this one doesn't disappoint. The keys are responsive and aren't overly clackity sounding (I'm sure there is a technical term for that but I don't know it). My son has been using "creamy" keyboards, and this isn't as quiet as those, but definitely quieter than others he's had. I personally love these low profile keys and prefer them, but I ordered this for my son and for him, they are too low. He is an avid gamer and has always used the taller keys so he's used to that. I think it's definitely a matter of opinion and he is never great with change 😉 That's ok though, because now I get to keep it! So, from a mom's perspective, it is easy to navigate without even reading the instructions and I'm older. I like that the battery life can easily be viewed by a touch of a button. I also love the scrolling volume control. The size is perfect for me too. The LED variations are always a fun feature too, I just don't spend much time exploring all of those options. I think what really sets this one apart are the low profile keys, so if that's what you are wanting, this is an excellent choice! ... show more

  • not ideal for macs
Wanted to like this board but had a bunch of issues connecting it to my mac. It would connect to my intel imac but it would not allow me to change the alt key to the command key for mac. There is no function + key to do that and the only way to accomplish it is by using apple silicon machine then using synapse 4 app. Ok no worries I thought, I will just use it on my m1. So install synapse 4 and sure enough it does not recognize the keybaord at all... so it's useless in a home full of macs. I guess it's made mostly for windows fan boys. Aside from the fact that I can not connect it to any machines properly with the command key working, it's mostly am all plastic body and has some good weight to it. Really not a huge fan of these switches either, there is noting unique about them... seems all very basic. The instruction manual is decent but still, it was taking awhile to even learn how to change the lights. Very unusual design and functionality compared to other boards I've tried. The one thing I did like was the way it displayed the battery power using the top number row to show the percentage of battery remaining that was actually pretty cool. ... show more
