EDIT: I should note in the section where I mention my headset being on the latest firmware it came out of the box that way when I attempted to update the USB receiver and headset they were already on the latest firmware so perhaps the headset previously had issues and Razer fixed them with firmware and started shipping the headset that way. TL;DR Pros: Excellent package experience. USBC. Bluetooth. Custom audio/mic EQs on the headset itself. 70 hour battery life. The best sounding mic I’ve ever used on a gaming headset period. Cons: Still have to use Razer Synapse for tuning and firmware updates and can’t be done via mobile or Mac. No 3.5mm connection. No Xbox compatibility (though I still blame Microsoft for this). The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) really should have just been the Razer BlaclShark V3 Pro. This headset improves on the 2020 BlackShark V2 Pro in just about every way (except for one). The headset has the same great sound as the 2020 model which to my taste is okay but needs to be adjusted for a more neutral natural sound as well as being identical in design save for some swapped button placement and a sadly removed port. Also Razer’s package experience is still amazing the headset comes very nicely packed in dense plush foam so that it won’t get damaged in shipping. After that the similarities end the improvements start coming and they just don’t stop. The 2023 model finally ditches the antiquated micro-USB port for a USBC connector that alone makes the headset worth it to me personally but Razer kept going the headset now supports Bluetooth for wireless audio outside of Razer’s 2.4Ghz Hyperspeed USB connection. Allowing you to pair the device with things like your phone, TV, Tablet, Streaming boxes and so much more. Razer has also decided to allow you to save EQs and presets to the headset itself which is great for people who want to use this headset on console but would maybe like to use some of the specific esports presets or their own custom EQ. Razer also significantly improved the battery life going from 24 hours on the 2020 model to a whopping 70 hours on the 2023 model. Then there’s the mic I don’t know what wizardry Razer is pulling but between the hardware and the processing on the headset itself it is one of the best sounding mics I have ever heard on a gaming headset beating out some USB mics I’ve tested. Now I have heard some people out of the box have had issues with their headsets not saving settings or EQs and tuning not sounding right or having a static feedback when using the headset on discord but with my headset on the latest firmware I have yet to run into an software issues. I also saw one review here that claimed the headset isn’t compatible which Switch and that it (the headset) was false advertising but I can confirm docked the headset works via the 2.4 usb dongle but honestly just pair the headset via Bluetooth and then it works perfectly in docked or handheld mode. This brings me to the faults I have with the headset for better or worse you’re still beholden to Razer Synapse for tuning and adjustments and you still can’t do any of this via the mobile app which means a PC is required which is super frustrating if the out of the box sound isn’t to your liking or if you need to update the firmware and own a Mac. Razer make a Mac specific app and allow wireless updating and tuning via the mobile app it’s 2023 not everyone wants to be tethered to their PC. Secondly while this doesn’t bother me the headset should support simultaneous audio over Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz and while we’re on missing features probably my biggest gripe is the removal of the 3.5mm connection. Look I get it, in 2023 a lot of devices don’t have 3.5 anymore and I have moved on but I liked having it as an option and to see it removed is really frustrating especially when some of the competition who had skipped having a 3.5 before on their wireless offerings like Logitech are now offering a 3.5 connection and Razer isn’t. This also means unless Razer makes a specific Xbox version this headset is a no go for Xbox users without a Bluetooth adapter and then you still can’t use the mic. Though I still think Microsoft should get off their high horse and just allow USB audio like the PC (which Windows is Microsoft’s software), PlayStation and Switch do. With all that being said I loved the 2020 model and the 2023 model is no exception it fixes every gripe I had with the previous version and does it all at a great price point. Great Comfortable Headphones

I've had these for a little over two months now and they are working amazing and feeling great! For reference, I am a small person who wears glasses and has a sensitivity to loud noises, so if you're in a similar boat, then these will work well for you! Pros: * Comfort: These headphones are really light, but sturdy. They don't put too much tight pressure on my ears or head (which helps when wearing glasses) and don't make me sweat either. They stay on my head pretty well too. * Noise Cancelling: The noise cancellation is pretty good, but that is kind of subjective for people. Most dull noises (like fans, cat fountains, air conditioners, outdoor noises, etc.) will be cancelled out by this when sound is coming through. I can hear people talking if they come in the room, but it's very easy to drown them out and I sometimes will hear them, but not understand them. This won't block out all of the loud noises out there, but it will lessen them considerably. I'm personally fine with this level, but I live in a mostly quiet home. This might be a downside for those with barking dogs, noisy kids, etc. * Quality Microphone: This microphone picks up my voice well and I sound clear and good when I play with friends. It will pick up quite a bit of noise though, even from a distance (like my cat meowing across the house), but I wouldn't say that's the mic's fault and instead my software's noise filtering capabilities. There are probably more things I could do for it or advance settings I can mess with, but for my needs it isn't important and my friends don't mind. A big thing I like is that the microphone piece is detachable, so I can actually get into more comfortable head positions if I want when I'm just by myself. Plus if the mic gets bad, I can just replace one piece rather than the whole headset. * Bluetooth Freedom: I got this so that way I could see what it's like enjoying a cordless lifestyle. I've heard mix things about Bluetooth headphones in the past that were made for computers rather than phones, but I have not been disappointed. It doesn't really have a high range (about maybe 30 feet?) before it starts cutting out here and there, but I can go to my kitchen or even sit outside and not have any issues. It's really nice being able to grab a quick snack or make a meal and still chat with people instead of having to step away. It would be nice if this had just a bit more range to it, but for now it works. * Low Light Profile: I get that people enjoy RGB colors and all, but when I'm gaming at night, I don't want bright lights affecting my peripherals as I play. The only lighting this headset has is a green power indicator light that is pointed downward and provides minimal light. That might make it a little dull for some, but I'm not bothered by it. * Good Volume Range: These headphones can get pretty loud or quiet (quiet being the important part), which I personally enjoy. I listen to heavy rock or punk music sometimes, and unfortunately that music can get too loud for my liking and I had struggled to find headphones that could get low enough without having to be muted. It's common that I find headphones or earbuds that can't get low enough for the louder music out there, but I haven't had an issue with this one. There is a good balance of being able to get low enough for loud songs, but also high enough for quiet songs. Cons: * Connectivity Issues: Occasionally (but rarely) the headphones might disconnect from my computer even though I haven't unplugged the USB from it. It's not every day, and it's only happened maybe twice now since I've had them. It's never when in active use, just when I want to use them. I can turn them off or charge them and once I'm ready to use them it'll be fine, but this just sometimes happens. However, I don't believe it's entirely the headset's fault, as the same thing happens with my Xbox Bluetooth controller. Might just be a computer issue. * Low-Sound Popping Issues: These headphones seem to struggle with super quiet noises. It feels like instead of these headphones staying on to play any sound that comes, it almost shuts off when there is perceived silence or lags when very faint noises are projected. If you turn up your volume, even just a little, you won't have that issue, but it is something I notice when listening to music. Disappointing longevity

I've been using this as my main headset for over a year. Pros: Incredible battery life: I often forget this is wireless and once every week and a half or so I'll hear the little chime that says it's dying and I plug it in when I go to sleep, wake up with a 100% battery for another1-2 weeks. Comfort: I'd put this under pros, even if it didn't wow me, it isn't actually painful like a lot of over ear headsets can be. It wouldn't win any awards though. Cons: The mic which is the ONLY reason I bought this particular wireless headset is absolutely terrible. Not the sound quality, the sound quality was top notch like everyone said, but the reach, the craftsmanship, just could not be worse. It has this plastic casing around the arm of the mic that feels like it should maintain some rigidity when you adjust it but it doesn't it's like a wet noodle, you try and shape it to where you need it (Which it's already way too short to reach in front of your mouth) but it just wants to spring back and point away. No matter how you try to fix it, it does not work, and I'm inevitably hearing people say "Are you standing far away from your mic?" or "I can't hear you at all" Absolutely terrible design and quality. If you are thinking of getting this for the mic like I was, then think again. This will only disappoint you. I guarantee it. Buttons/charger port: I would say this sleek design really did not do the buttons or the charger port location any favors. The buttons don't feel easy to click at all on this smooth surface, so you really have to grab the entire headset and try and click the rigid buttons, or find which one you need. I don't think it's very intuitive, and it just doesn't feel great. It's not a huge con, but I would never put it as a pro so here it is. Also you'll never land that charging chord while you're wearing the headset, so don't even try. Overall: I would not recommend this headset. When there are much better wireless headsets that don't have a droopy noodle for a microphone, this headset's singular plus which was supposed to be it's mic quality absolutely falls apart when the only way to speak into the mic is to literally HOLD the mic in front of your mouth. I removed the mic and use a Yeti now because this thing was completely unusable. I can't say I'm surprised, Razer has fallen short of my expectations in nearly every product I've ever had of theirs, and I was fooled by some positive reviews into expecting this to be any different. CHANGED MY REVIEW TO 1 STAR: Broke after 1 year and 5 months. The cheap plastic around the connections literally shattered when I went to pick up my headphones. This makes I think the 4th RAZER product that has just become unusable in record time. I will never recommend another Razer product. Don't waste your money. Great headset, but avoid if you have a bigger head

I want to start out that I actually loved this headset. Unfortunately, the headset is prone to failing for folks with bigger heads, like myself. The headset is designed in such a way that there ends up being a lot of pressure on the hinges at the base of the headband/top of the rails that act as the adjustable slider for the main driver housing. This pressure from taking the headset on and off, even when being careful, cause the plastic housing to break and then the ear piece to become detached from the headband, making the headset unusable. I had one set fail and did a replacement with Razer through their warranty program. While the folks at Razer were great to work with and they replaced the headset, it didn't resolve the issues outlined above. Eventually, the second headset experienced the same failure, even with me being more cautious about over extending the headset when putting it on/off. For the price, I would expect better build quality and a more robust bracket than what is present. Because of this, I am pulling 1 star off my score. The sound quality is great. The large drivers on this give a great sound stage for a closed ear headset, with great balance between the lows, mids, and highs. The one drawback that some may find is that it doesn't get as loud as other headsets/headphones I have used in the past. This meant there were times when I was really getting into the song I was listening to and was hitting max volume. The design also provides a lot of noise dampening. The closed ear design with the big ear cups meant that when I put these on, I would only hear very loud noises, such as lawn mowers right outside my apartment. The comfort was perfect for me. The headset was snug without being tight for my big head. The ear cups and headband had soft padding that meant I could wear the headset for long periods without discomfort. They were so comfortable that I would occasionally forget I was wearing the headset. The buttons and volume dial were responsive and easy to use. I never used the mic as I have a standalone mic on a boom, so I can' comment on that aspect. The range is excellent. I could go anywhere in my apartment and still get perfect signal. It wasn't until I went to the mailboxes on my floor with the headset on that it finally lost connection. I estimate that it was good for ~40 feet through multiple walls before it gave out. In the end, if you have an average to smaller sized head, I think this is a great headset. You do need to be careful not to torque the headset too much, but it is otherwise a home run. If you have a bigger head, then I would advise you look elsewhere as you will likely experience the same issues I did and be out ~$200. ... show more

Unmatched Quality

I have tried everything. Zone vibe 100, JBL nightfall, steelseries Arctis nova 5p, a Corsair headset I can't remember the name to, etc. None of them (NONE OF THEM) are on the level this headset is. The mic has no business being this good. Near broadcast quality. I use it all day for work and never have battery problems. Someone asked if I was ai recentyl--its that clear--and I work in a noisey call center The noise canceling through the software is superb and completely eliminates the need for things like krisp, but you'll need to understand how to use a computer. Not because the companion app is lacking (it is very user friendly) but because of other reasons I won't detail here as they are very specialized. The sound quality is UNBELIEVABLE, I hear an entire new layer to music, it's actually insane. It does lack some bass but that's ok, as it seems other headsets fake the impact of bass with cheap rumble tricks that my simple monkey mind is tricked by. The crispness of the audio is truly purposeful and amazing. It's very comfortable but there's some strain from all day use due to a sort've lacking depth in the overears. For instance, the zone vibe 100 are far more comfortable in weight and overear space that doesn't touch ear cartilage. I use the zone 100 at home due to its comfort, but this headset's audio quality for media is way better. The sidetone (YES, IT HAS SIDETONE) works while the mic has an output source, and it DOES NOT switch to a different audio mode to relay that. This means you can hear yourself while you play music for instance. The sidetone itself is a bit like a walkie talkie in its quality. Very clear, but lacks any meangful mids and is devoid of all lows. Again, this is just for the sidetone. Think phone receiver sound, while the media otherwise plays normal. Overall I am very very impressed with this headset (and I'm a total audiophile snob when it comes to headsets, obviously). Get this headset. Even though you might need a 5 minute break every other hour due to its somewhat lacking overear comfort, you'll truly be amazed by what this headset has to offer. ... show more

Faulty Microphone Connection and some audio distortion

First off, great microphone, mainly maybe why I'm giving it 3 stars. At first the headset seemed great but I noticed when I have multiple things like discord,music, and a game open at once, the audio for everything HEAVILY distorts after like 10-20 minutes of those things being open, it almost sounds like very bad static. I notice this stops when I close out my music app, this should not be an issue at all, yet it is. Another HUGE thing I noticed after 2 months of usage is that now everytime when I first power on my headset, for some reason it does NOT pick up ANY input audio as if the microphone was the only thing not "connecting" mind you i have the USB receiver on a USB 3.0 port(YES i checked the control panel settings to make sure all my audio is set up correctly). The mic starts to pick up my voice again after either A, I plug its charger into my PC and to my headset and this will sometimes make the microphone work again or B, I restart my PC, turn off headset, and before powering on either my PC or headset i plug the headset in with its USB C to my PC and THEN i power on my PC followed by the headset while it is plugged in to my PC. This has been one of THE biggest issues I've ever had with any headset I've picked up. I also noticed/read that the headphone yoke itself isn't very sturdy and IS prone to broke over use, Of course it depends on how you use it, but in my opinion i feel as if its something that is bound to happen as someone who has had multiple headsets and headset yoke types. Again GREAT mic, decent audio although the volume wheel is tied to your PC's maximum audio, so if the PC is at 80% so is the headset, I seemed to find a workaround by downloading ear trumpet since it gives me more audio options and flexibility that the headset cannot, This might be a common thing with most headsets but I used to own an Arctis headset before this Blackshark so naturally i got accustomed to how greatly they handle their audio and audio mix wheel , but horrible mic connection from my experience. I forgot to mention, yes the mic is detachable, no it is not damaged nor is it reason for the mic connectivity, Ive only ever removed it once or twice ever since purchase, and I've also NEVER connected this headset to anything other than my PC, even less of a reason for me to be experiencing such issues. ... show more

Worth the cost.

I know these are expensive, but daaaang they’re good. I got these in order to make a fully wireless VR setup, and they have quickly turned into my daily drivers for when I’m gaming. I’ll shoot off some pros and cons, if anyone’s interested. Pros: - Insanely long battery - Great mic (for wireless headsets. For better mic quality, look at external mics by the likes of FiFine or Blue) - USB extension cable, YES - Windows volume wheel (instead of the usual 100 windows independent headset) - On headset EQ/mode swap - 2 ways to mute your mic (pull the mic out if you’re in the Rip and Tear mood, or just hit the button if you’re feeling sensible) -Bluetooth and USB connectivity Cons: - One audio output for everything (pain if you’re trying to record without having to go through the nightmare of voicemeeter) - Mic side-tone is actually on the side - No RBG lights (sorry, your ears can’t have a rave with these) - Audio EQ/mode effects everything. Even if it’s a game-based mode, your music and comms will be effected by it, too. Personally, a solid 9/10. Out of the wireless headsets I’ve tried, these are the best, period. ... show more

Decent headset, but not worth the price.

I've had this headset for about 2 months and I honestly disappointed with it. Update Sept. 1st, 2023: My warranty claim for the broken headset went unanswered for five days so I contacted Razer support and was told it was going to be handled and a brand new replacement would be sent out when the warranty team got back to me. Update Sept. 6th, 2023: The small broken piece devolved into a very broken part and were pretty much unusable. Since I still have had no contact from the warranty team, I contacted support again. This time after about a half an hour they were able to just give me an RMA number, something that should have just been done on day 1. Getting an advance headset with the RMA would cost an additional $200, not just a pending transaction to my account but an actual payment and the RMA process even states that the claim could be denied after receiving it, which shouldn't happen unless the company has shady business practices and are going to try and get out of the claim. I'm not trusting this company with $200 more of my money. I have concluded at this point that I will never purchase another Razer product again. Update Sept. 20th, 2023: After receiving the RMA number and prepaid return label on the 6th I immediately sent the defective headset back to Razer and was given a shipping time of Sept. 11th. Razer contacted me on Sept. 12th to inform me that the device has been received, that they are processing my RMA and that "It will take up to three (3) business days for our team to provide a replacement". The next day on Sept. 13th I received another email stating "We would like to inform you that your defective unit has been delivered but not yet systematically received by our Service Center. Once our Service center confirms that they have your package, we will update you and process your replacement right away." and "Please be informed that the replacement device is shipped within 3 business days from when the device is received at our facility (excluding weekends and holidays)." Another two days have gone by and on Sept. 15th I received another email that my device has been systematically received and it will be 3 days for my replacement to ship and of course this was a Friday so the estimate now is to be shipped out Wednesday, Sept. 20th which is today. So, basically on Sept 12th, I was told that they had the device and it would be three days for my replacement only for three days later to be told it'll be three days. This company has trash tier customer service. I am altering my three star rating to a two star because of Razer's customer service. PROS: Amazing Quality Microphone This was a huge reason why I had decided to purchase this headset as the microphone seems to be leaps and bound better than microphones on most other headsets even in this price range. Decent Quality Sound The sound from these is pretty decent and I'm sure you can get better at this price range, but not if you are looking for a headset with the best quality mic combination. Comfortable They aren't particularly heavy and are quite comfortable for all day wear, at least for myself. CONS: Software Mandatory Must have the Synapse software running for the headset to work, at least as far as I can tell. Bluetooth mode might be usable without the software running though. Windows/Bluetooth Sound Issue The headset sound fine on Bluetooth until a software requires your microphone (Skype, Windows Sound Settings, etc...). For example if a Skype call comes through the headset reverts to a very low sound quality Bluetooth hands-free mode. This isn't a fault of the headset itself I don't think, but some people may think it is at fault. I put it as a con because I had no idea on purchasing this that this was going to be a thing and it has made using Bluetooth connection on my PC (for better range) useless. Weird Power Quirk On at least 4 different occasions I have had the headset randomly say "Power Off" when never having pressed the button to turn it off. It couldn't even be an accidental press (which it wasn't) because it is required to hold the power button for it to turn off and the battery still had plenty of charge, so there would've been no reason for this to happen. Falsely Advertised Battery Life I have run multiple usage tests and I will say that this could very well be my particular headset as I have no other headset to test with, but the battery life doesn't come close to 70 hours. Using 75% volume, no enhancements other than the preset EQ and Microphone Sidetone, I average about 4-6% battery loss per hour. Taking the lowest loss (4%) per hour I would barely get above 24 hours of battery life, which isn't even remotely close to the claimed 70 hours. Cheap Build Quality Within 2 months of use and taking good care of the headset a piece of plastic broke off near the adjustment. I say "broke off" but fell off would be more appropriate as it made no sound of breaking. I have never dropped the headset, moved or twisted it aggressively. It is garbage quality plastic and it is pathetic that a headset at this price range uses this low tier quality in it's build. Customer Service I have contacted the manufacturer about getting a replacement for the headset due to the previous mention of plastic breaking off. The representative had a very "How did YOU break our product" kind of demeanor and seemed like they were trying to get out of replacing the product. After the conversation with the representative they said that the warranty team would reach out to me via email. This interaction was on August 27th, 2023. It has been three days and I have still not received an email from the warranty team. ... show more
