  • A lot to like, but the sound quality is dreadful.
Color: Green
I wanna start this off by saying I really thought these would be amazing, but promptly returned them. I couldn't stand them for more than the first day. They hurt my ears and by the end of the day I had a headache and was begging for release. Even at the $95 price point from the Prime Day sale, these aren't worth it. I went with the updated version of my previous earbuds (Anker Soundcore 3 Pro) for $75 Prime Day sale. I can't recommend those enough. Especially if you get them on a sale as I did, Soundcores are INCREDIBLE true wireless earbuds! So I wanna state I'm not new to earbuds. I've used mid range wired buds my whole childhood through teens. I graduated to near wireless buds like Beats X and Jbl. I the. Moved up to fully wireless with Anker Soundcore. As I go to new pairs of buds, I'm always on the lookout for high quality sound at an affordable price. I've loved my Soundcores dearly as they boast great sound, long battery life and comfort. Unfortunately the version I own doesn't have replacement parts available and the case battery is shot making charging difficult. So, since my spouse bought the overear Raycons and loved them, I thought I'd try these. Lord was that a mistake. Cons: While the over the ears are pretty great, these earbuds have some of the worst sound quality I've heard in over the last10 years of my audio listening history. The bass is kind of weak in the first preset, while everything else in the midst and highs has a terrible ringing hiss to it. It gave me a headache trying to watch videos with a lot of talking especially. On top of that, they are SO dang quiet! I have to put the volume well over 60% to get any kind of immersion because they just don't isolate the sound well, even with the largest earpiece (which, their largest earpiece wasn't big enough for my ear)! The "bass boost" is all bass literally hiding all the other sound far in the background. And the boost it has is just really muffley. The "Pure" sound is probably the worst setting as it just nearly disables the bass and makes everything sound like it's coming through a loudspeaker in an office. Honestly, all of the sound modes just kinda hurt my ears. Next issue is the ANC and transparency modes. While they do work, the ANC doesn't really cancel outside noise out very well because as previously stated, they already let a ton of outside noise in. The sound these put out is so quiet that you have to enable ANC and really blast music to block outside noise. The transparency mode is another issue. It works, sure. But to really hear people talking to you you have to nearly mute or pause whatever you have playing as most media drowns out voices while sounds (such as plates clanking while you unload a dishwasher, the clack of keyboard keys) some through perfectly like you have nothing on regardless of media volume. So the features do work, but don't expect miracles out of the buds. Pros: It's a huge too as they are SO freakin small! The case alone is barely larger than. A tiktac box! And I was worried about the build quality but, the case feels really premium. The hinge is nice and solid, the feel of the case is a soft touch plastic, the color was really pretty (I bought the green pair). The charging light is really nice to as it has a really nice glow with varying colors to indicate charge level (however on mine, the charging light never turned off to indicate a full share like they advertise it to, wveb after an hour with a solid green 75-99% charge light). The earbuds snapped in place with little effort and honestly even the buds feel really nice in the ear. The wings provided are the only thing that feels a little cheap, but they weren't uncomfortable. Honestly, the battery life is pretty great as well at least with my limited time with them. The touch controls are another strength. They weren't finicky, the touch area is large enough to hit, but not so large that I fat-fingered them on accident when handling them. They're really responsive and if I had to pick one negative about then, its that tapping to use them makes quite a thump sound in your ear unless you're very gentle. Overall, these aren't terrible earbuds. But for the price, they're horrendous. You could move up $40 and get EXTREMELY better sound quality than these. Hell, I've had cheaper earbuds sound better. Even the Beats X (which I didn't like overall for comfort and connectivity reasons) sound way better than these and they're $99 when u bought then years ago. My $40 JBL near wireless buds are about on par with the sound quality here. They're just a waste of money at this price and it really is a shame. We had so many content creators we trust push these as amazing over the years, and again my spouses over the ears actually sound pretty great for the price. But the buds just ain't it. Save yourself some money and look elsewhere or spend just a little more and enjoy your music 100x more. Or if you're okay with over the ears, go for those! ... show more

  • Not as Good as it Can be!
So finding a good western earbud without an obnoxious boomer prong sticking out is getting difficult. I needed a discrete earbud I can use at work and the gym. A subtle color but not black because a brighter color means its easier to find in dark places or notice when in a rush. These earbuds need way more handling than an Earfun or Skullcandy. I wont compare it to the chinese brand Tozo because those are very low quality trash. To begin, I needed to switch out the plugs because the default one is very small. Which drastically affects sound quality and exterior sound blocking. Then I needed to read the manual and turn on the "Bass" option to actually get better sound. To make matters worse, there's this "Awareness" mode that if not checked, will be on. Now I absolutely do not need an "Awareness" mode. Awareness mode is basically an amplifier that allows you to hear better, similar to a hearing aid or hunting/infantry head sets. And that is so specific and unnecesary. If I need more awareness, there are simple work arounds like taking your earbuds out or keeping one in. Or keeping the sound low, changing sound type. And this is where "Awareness" mode becomes a nuissance. Awareness mode (for some pesky reason) turns on when I pull an earbud out of the case. And I have to turn it off. And this is a constant struggle. This is why I despise touch sensitive proximity buttons on earbuds. Because If I try to adjust the earbud, some option changes without my choice. And its a constant struggle. I then have to put tape over the button to prevent it from being too sensitive when handled. Which is absurd there isnt an option on the charger, earbud or an app to disable touch sensitive buttons. As if changing options from the phone is too advance for today. You would think Raycon would have a universal control app. Or a specific app at first for this more expensive device. One hugely misleading issue is the battery life. They say each earbud has 9 hours and get over 50 hours of charging. That is ridiculously misleading across the industry. This is a common malpractice done in the laptop and smartphone industry. And I have to mention this because I spent enough to expect consistency. First off, the 9 hours of charging depends on the setting used. With Awareness Mode on (which triggers without consent), you only get under 3 hours. Add bass and full volume, you wont get more than 2.5 hours. The charging dock is convoluted as well. The last bulb for the charging indicator stays flashing at full charge. And you cant tell if its still charging or done. Its not like many other brands that either go green or show 100%. It just keeps flashing. And even if you have both earbuds in at 100%, it shows two red lights, which it's supposed to indicate they are in place. Which can be confused with being without charge. Not to forget the case feels fragile and is fragile. For a sports device, if something heavy falls on the case or the case makes a hard drop; it will likely shatter to bits. The labeling is also poor. It can easily scatch off and fade away. Getting the old look very quickly. The case is small and not ergonomic. Im tall and lift weights, I have to force the case open everytime. Including the charging port seal. I have to pry it off as if I intend to rip it off just to open it. They could have just cover the case in a dense layer of rubber to give it better grip, more durability and longevity. And layer the stenciling with epoxy or some sillicone material. Giving it an elegant yet sporty look. As well as making it one of the most durable on the market. At over $100, I expected allot more and expected allot less unnecassary complication. I'm basically going to have to keep browsing for something more reliable and simple. Might just skip Earfun, Skullcandy and Raycon and just start trying out Bose or Beats at its dreaded $400 price range. With their uncreative narrow choice of colors. There's just so much trash on the market, its baffling ... show more

  • I’m glad Donut Media turned me onto Raycon
Color: Carbon Black
Look, most of us are probably here for the same reason. Probably some YouTuber(s) that we like to watch hits us with the segment about a sponsor. Usually Raycon or Raid: shadow legends. I’m not saying, I usually buy into that stuff, but my previous headphones took a s*** and I needed something that would fill the role but also it’s not willing to spend $200+ for Apple AirPod pros. Especially because the design is goofy. Doughnut media happen to have one of the sponsors a couple years ago for the “everyday” E 55 and the “performer”. After some deliberation, I chose the performer series and immediately fell in love they were comfortable. They sounded phenomenal and much better than beats by Dre could ever sound. Unfortunately, the build quality was good but not meant for the heavy use and abuse of two years. They eventually fell apart and right side wasn’t working. They are for chilling and listening to whatever. These, however, the fitness buds are obviously meant for people to work out with them, so I wear them when I actually work. The sound is not as good in my opinion, but the build quality proves to be much dirtier, solid, and resistant, so for that reason I’m going to rate is pretty high Again there is a little bit of a total loss, but not enough to deter me away from the company. I get them, you won’t regret them. ... show more
