My older bench scraper had a curious bend in it, hard to see with the eye, but wasn't doing its job as a result of the slight curvature. Probably from incorrect storage on my part. This one is not any heavier than the old one, but it's got a larger "blade" surface. Best of all, it feels quite balanced in my hand and is very properly straight-bladed, so it gets stuff up off the counter or cutting board without anything left behind. A simple kitchen tool that is sturdy, balanced in the hand, and durable - I don't put it in the dishwasher, but only wash by hand, so I can't address any issues that might result from dishwasher cleaning. That being said, I like this tool and would suggest that if you are looking for a nice scraper, you might try this one.
