  • Superb unit. Easy mod. Well built
I spent months researching many radios and comparing them. The QT80 is hands down the best radio for the money! Easy unlock to use 10-15m. Sturdy, built solid and robust although pretty compact. The menu options are those of a more expensive unit. Used it for a few weeks now. Picking up 5x5 signals from Europe and all over the USA. CB/11m works great as well. Crystal clear RX/tx. Just buy this, you won’t be sorry ... show more

  • 10 meter radio, easily modified for 12 and 15 meters (yeah, and one other)
Extremely well-built and reasonably easy to use. Had several contacts already from the vehicle with the matched Radioddity antenna, and the screen is bright and easy to read. Yes, it can be very easily modified for additional bands, including 12 and 15 meters (and one other). That takes 5 minutes. The programming software is not native to Linux, but will work with WINE... however, I simply used an old Windows setup to program since I could not figure out how to determine the port for Linux. Others can do this, but I did not have the patience. It's pretty good and easy-to-use programming software. It is a very good radio for the money, and smaller than you might imagine... if you are so inclined, I think it would work in your vehicle dashboard, but it's quite unobtrusive under the dash. The built-in speaker is quite adequate, and the noise reduction is very effective. It's also a great-looking radio. Very happy, and with 80 watts, you will be very happy as well! ... show more

  • Power in a smaller chassis.
I wanted to wait for a while to get this review in, I had to do some inspections and testing to make sure everything are functioning properly and no defects or surprises came about and everything checked out good, I did a month worth of research on this radio with other brands, some others are of the same radio under different branded names, so I decided to choose the QT80 due to it’s cheaper pricing, the one that I needed to make sure is it is pushing the wattage it is marketed at which it is and then some, the ability to program the radio from a software via the computer and the included USB cable is excellent or do the programming directly on the radio, the audio is very good and clear, noise blanker in both RX & TX are excellent, I liked the size of the radio and it’s not bulky like most 10M radios. ... show more

  • Best mobile radio in it's class.
Great radio! If you're in the market for one of these, get it. I'm very pleased with the audio quality and performance of this radio. As of now, I have 3 of these and run one mobile, one base and have a spare.

  • Neat New Export Rig with 1st in Class 15 Meter Capabilty after easy Mod
Neat little Export Rig, same as Anytone AT-6666 PRO, 1st in Class that has added 15 Meters to capabilities. Simply Move Jumper inside radio from Position 1-2 to 2-3 to activate 15 Meters. Perform Other Easy Push-Key Mod as seen on Youtube to open rest of radio from 24.715 to 30.105. After these 2 simple mods, TX/RX will be 21.00-21.500 and then 24.715-30.105. Many Useful Menu Adjustments that are clearly outlined in the good instruction manual. Clean and Clear audio from factory mic but will likely benefit from using a power mic. Use the K PO 532 handheld power mic off the internet or you can get a 6Pin Anytone to 4 Pin Cobra mic adapter at Walcott CB for $20. ... show more

  • From a experienced ham radio operator...
I have been a avid radio operator since the way early 70's... I've had my ham radio ticket since the early 90s... I have a truckload of quality communication gear... It takes a lot to impress me twice in a row... I purchased a Radioddity G90 about two years ago to use portable... I could not be happier with it... Great little first HF or portable "qrp" (20 watts) rig... That said... I decided to give Radioddity a chance to defend their title... I heard about the QT80 from my local radio needs and decided to give it a try... My ham privileges and my fondness for 11 meters, made this a practical selection... This radio is the same chassis as a Anytone 6666 pro... but... My experience with Radioddity's customer service sealed the deal for me and I did not hesitate to stick with their support team... The QT 80 is hands down one of the best performing radios that I own, now... I have Yeasu, Alinco, and President radios to compare it with so, that is a tough team to beat... For filtering, options like variable power, 100 watts SSB FM and AM, Memory and offsets for working 10 meter repeaters, this is a hard yes... You can spend more money but I don't think that you will get a better value for your dollar... My advice is, stop looking and buy it... YouTube is your friend for easy instruction... Buy it... 73 ... show more

  • Cannot recommend this radio
It has taken a LOT of work to make it work. Be sure and get a really, really good antenna or you will be disappointed. I tried two before I found one that works well. I mounted a vertical antenna on my carport and ran four braided cables across it for a good counterpoise. The instructions are just not very helpful, honestly. I reached out to support, but that was also disappointing. Update: Cannot recommended this radio. After about seven months the radio won't work and the seller and Amazon are ignoring warranty inquiries. Two stars off for what could still be a pretty good radio. Just wish it was a little better and came with adequate instructions.. ... show more
