Customize microphone sensitivity for clear and precise communication, adapting to different environmental conditions. Enhance your setup with a 7-color LCD display, selecting your preferred color for optimal visibility, personalizing your user interface. Effortlessly toggle between FM, AM, SSB (USB, LSB), and PA modes, offering diverse communication options for various situations. Use CTCSS/DCS codes to prevent interference and enhance privacy during group communications, ensuring clear and secure conversations. Receive immediate alerts for high SWR levels, protecting the radio and antenna from potential damage while maintaining optimal performance. Tune precisely with 7 Frequency Tuning Step options (10Hz/100Hz/1KHz/5KHz/10KHz/100KHz/1MHz), enabling accurate adjustments for clear communication. To mitigate noise, the RF gain functions as a sensitivity filter, diminishing noise in the receiver while maintaining reception power. Why does my radio receive perfectly but fail to transmit when I press the PTT button? Transmitting draws ~12A. Ensure you use a 13.8V, 15A+ power supply; voltage drops stop transmission. Check the screen for low voltage or High SWR errors. Verify the mic is firmly plugged in. Let Radioddity support team know if issues persist. Why does my power meter show a low output that doesn't reach the stated wattage? In SSB/AM mode, power fluctuates dynamically with your voice. Standard average-reading meters cannot accurately measure this Peak Envelope Power (PEP). To correctly test SSB/AM power, you must use a professional power meter supports PEP measurement. Why won't my radio go into Boot Mode for a firmware update? This is usually a PC communication or operation issue. Ensure the programming cable driver is installed. Double-check the manual's button sequence. Still stuck? Send a short video of your steps via Amazon for fast, precise support. • 10 meter radio, easily modified for 12 and 15 meters (yeah, and one other)
Extremely well-built and reasonably easy to use. Had several contacts already from the vehicle with the matched Radioddity antenna, and the screen is bright and easy to read. Yes, it can be very easily modified for additional bands, including 12 and 15 meters (and one other). That takes 5 minutes. The programming software is not native to Linux, but will work with WINE... however, I simply used an old Windows setup to program since I could not figure out how to determine the port for Linux. Others can do this, but I did not have the patience. It's pretty good and easy-to-use programming software. It is a very good radio for the money, and smaller than you might imagine... if you are so inclined, I think it would work in your vehicle dashboard, but it's quite unobtrusive under the dash. The built-in speaker is quite adequate, and the noise reduction is very effective. It's also a great-looking radio. Very happy, and with 80 watts, you will be very happy as well! ... show more

  • Superb unit. Easy mod. Well built
I spent months researching many radios and comparing them. The QT80 is hands down the best radio for the money! Easy unlock to use 10-15m. Sturdy, built solid and robust although pretty compact. The menu options are those of a more expensive unit. Used it for a few weeks now. Picking up 5x5 signals from Europe and all over the USA. CB/11m works great as well. Crystal clear RX/tx. Just buy this, you won’t be sorry ... show more

  • Power in a smaller chassis.
I wanted to wait for a while to get this review in, I had to do some inspections and testing to make sure everything are functioning properly and no defects or surprises came about and everything checked out good, I did a month worth of research on this radio with other brands, some others are of the same radio under different branded names, so I decided to choose the QT80 due to it’s cheaper pricing, the one that I needed to make sure is it is pushing the wattage it is marketed at which it is and then some, the ability to program the radio from a software via the computer and the included USB cable is excellent or do the programming directly on the radio, the audio is very good and clear, noise blanker in both RX & TX are excellent, I liked the size of the radio and it’s not bulky like most 10M radios. ... show more

  • From a experienced ham radio operator...
I have been a avid radio operator since the way early 70's... I've had my ham radio ticket since the early 90s... I have a truckload of quality communication gear... It takes a lot to impress me twice in a row... I purchased a Radioddity G90 about two years ago to use portable... I could not be happier with it... Great little first HF or portable "qrp" (20 watts) rig... That said... I decided to give Radioddity a chance to defend their title... I heard about the QT80 from my local radio needs and decided to give it a try... My ham privileges and my fondness for 11 meters, made this a practical selection... This radio is the same chassis as a Anytone 6666 pro... but... My experience with Radioddity's customer service sealed the deal for me and I did not hesitate to stick with their support team... The QT 80 is hands down one of the best performing radios that I own, now... I have Yeasu, Alinco, and President radios to compare it with so, that is a tough team to beat... For filtering, options like variable power, 100 watts SSB FM and AM, Memory and offsets for working 10 meter repeaters, this is a hard yes... You can spend more money but I don't think that you will get a better value for your dollar... My advice is, stop looking and buy it... YouTube is your friend for easy instruction... Buy it... 73 ... show more

  • Sorry but Junk
This is not a $300 radio regardless of what they want to charge you. In the last three months they jacked up the price on this radio $50 from $250 so I thought I better get one, but boy was I wrong. I have three other very comparable radios, both feature and power wise and its hard to believe how poor this QT-80 performed compared to the President Washington, or especially the Stryker 955. But this QT-80 has no ears and performed poor to midgrade compared to either one of them. The same 24' Gain Master antenna used on all tests. Sorry but I did not find this radio anywhere worth $300 so it was promptly returned. Maybe I got a bad one but it was pretty quiet most of the time. JUNK ... show more
