Bought this for a new laptop, since I have one on my other. I gotta say, this one is far better in every aspect. The controls are by touch on the lamp itself, instead of a flimsy toggle pad on the wiring. The lamp is sturdy and actually feels like it’s secure. My other one feels like it’s always about to break. The clamp is padded on both sides (no more scratches on one side of the laptop) and large enough to actually hold it place. The light it provides is incredible!     • Lamp is floppy -Didn’t want to stay in position

Aside from the fact that the item appeared to have been a return, there were two distinct things I did not like and I reboxed it ship back within five minutes. 1) The lamp bar would not stay in position- It was just floppy enough and heavy enough that if I tried to position it at the correct angle to light the keyboard it just drooped down - it wasn’t broken it just wouldn’t hold position. 2) In order to use the touch buttons on top of the light bar to control the features of the lamp, one has to tap it fairly firmly - what happens is that the lid of your laptop will flex as you tap them - preventing one from getting a firm tap and then you have to repeatedly tap the indicator while holding the lid of your laptop firm so it doesn’t move. My old task light died (pic 1). I do a lot of typing in limited light conditions and I don't touch type my function keys or numbers. After my old light died (8 years +) I thought that I could find better. I did. It was the, "Laptop Computer Monitor Lamp, Quntis Screen Light Bar E-Reading LED Task Lamp with No Glare on Screen," light. Amazon's got dozens of styles of lights. and more than a dozen of this style of LED light bar. What sold me was the variable intensity (10 step dimming) and the selectable warmth of the lamps color (cold, cool and warm). Pic 3 is warm at full intensity. the light is actually bouncing off the underside of the shelf above the keyboard. I am very pleased with the light I got for the price that I paid. It's construction is substantial and clean. it feels solid and all the pieces fit together accurately, not slipshod or "Frankenstein"-ed. The light is even and pleasant. Even on the coldest setting it still is not harsh or unpleasantly glaring (your not staring into a Tactical Flashlight!). The directability afforded by the reflector/diffuser hood allows for an almost "gallery light"-like placement of the work beam. It's not going to light up the road to change your tire on a rainy night. It won't remove stubborn set-in stains from your laundry. It is what it is. It's a decent, versatile, pleasant, small area task light that's affordable. I like it. I recommend it. I would buy it again. ... show more

This has made my work much easier, I am spending long hours programming, using multiple monitors in a low light environment and always had trouble where to place my desktop lamp to avoid stress my eyesight, so I can keep the keyboard with the proper amount of light and read some paper documents at the same time. This devices solved the issue I had for long time, my only regret is not getting this it before. Make sure you go adjust the different types of lighting to get the one it works for you, in my case I switch the light mode depending the time of the day, as still I have some daylight coming from the windows. I personally use the lowest setting with the yellow light by night time and use the white light during the day, but this is a personal preference. It's easy to clip on, be sure to adjust the clip in a way it doesn't block your camera, I have several laptops of different brands, it can be adjusted the most of them. Again, this will depend in your laptop's brand and model, on my HP zbook and my Lenovo ideapad the clip works properly. I really like it and I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to increase the productivity with the proper work environment . Great purchase and worth the cost! ... show more
