UPDATE: I purchased another one of these canopy's for my other son's Birthday. We put it up. It is easy to put together, the tarp is a nice thickness and so far has held up with the rain and wind we have had. I purchased this to give to my son for Christmas. I opened it to make sure everything was there. This will be used in Florida. This comes in a heavy duty box, all taped up and the bands around it are even taped. It is heavy. The box is 5' 10 1/2" long, 13 1/2" across and 8" high. The box is easy to open - you cut around it and the top pops off and can be put back on. It comes with directions/ parts list - but beware it has two different models in it. The poles come in plastic bags and have numbers on them, there is a bag with the anchors, bungee cords, rope and bolts. Then another bag with the base plates and the 3 and 4 way pieces are in the middle of the box. There was a sealed up box in mine but it was empty (it was for packing so the poles didn't shift). The tarp was on top and in a plastic bag. It has grommets for hooking the bungee cords to the poles. It appears to be well made and didn't have any holes. The poles have the to metal buttons that you push in and line up with the holes in the other pole. I did put two together and they fit well.

I wanted something to add a layer of protection from hail mainly, after my truck got numerous hail dings and the cost of repairing them is enormous. I don't expect large hail to bounce off, but, as I found out, it will penetrate the tarp but slows down enough not to dent the vehicle. As expected, it finally got destroyed in a storm a few weeks ago when high winds and all the holes from the hail storms combined to rip it to shreds! This was after it was installed for a year and three months. I contacted Jenna with customer service and asked if it was covered by warranty. Of course the tarp wasn't covered which, I expected. But they offered me a replacement roof for $100 and I ordered it and received in just a few days, very quickly. To me, even if I had to replace it annually, that's not too much for insurance against the elements. Much cheaper than hail dent repair. Some installation tips! Once you have the frame completely set up and the cables tightened with the turnbuckles, you can unfold the roof and run it longways along the outside of one side of the structure. Then I took rope and ran it through eyelets adjacent to each pole, one on each end and one near each of the inside poles, ran the ropes up and over the roof side pipe and peak of the roof pipe and down over the outside of the outer edge roof pipe and then using the four ropes I was able to pull the roof tarp a little at a time, up and over the top, temporarily tying off the ropes to the leg pipes as I want from rope to rope. Eventually I was able to clip the original side clips on the side that I unfolded the tarp to the leg poles and pull the tarp tight around each end and sides. I did have to use a small ladder to tuck the top ends of the tarp over the peaks on each end, and while up there I used the ball bungees to attach the roof tarp at the high points before going around and attaching all the rest of them. On my original roof tarp, some of the sewing of the little straps with the little hooks on them were off maybe as much as three inches and wouldn't reach the holes in the leg pipes, so we zip tied them down but they never caused a problem. It is obviously easier with two people to pull the tarp up and over but with the ropes, one person could make it work, barring any wind gusts. I also bought some rebar anchor stakes https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZYHBD24/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and drilled out the hole in the foot piece of each leg where it sits on the ground and pounded the spikes in to hold down the system and protect it from walking away in a storm. I am going to build a carport, but until I do, this will provide the protection I want.

First, as I went to install the poles, one was bent. I messaged the seller and they kindly asked for a photo to send me out a new pole. We ended up putting it together with the bent one and we lashed two whole sides of this to walls. I rent out the back of my house and it’s got a driveway but no carport, so I was able to completely tie down this tent. The back and a long side were against an L of walls, and every pole was strapped to the metal bars of my fence and to the gable along the whole side of the house. My husband and I went on a cheap trip for our health where we were gone a few weeks. While we were gone the monsoons hit Arizona. Well needless to say we did not get the healing we needed or time to relax. We ended up coming home at the end of august because our renter called me and at first I didn’t believe him. This tent not only snapped a TON of connectors it was tied down with(supplied by the company) which at least didn’t rip out my sturdy fence, not only yanked up chunks of concrete on the non-wall side where we used stakes, not only stressed the gables of the house as it FLEW away, but also it somehow FLOATED ITSELF ONTO MY ROOF, *punched holes in the roof*, *banged into my brand new air conditioner and bent the whole side*, ripped off a vent fan I had to take down\bend back into shape\get back up into the roof and attach… the rains made my roof leak once it had HOLES in it, and now I need to get ceiling repair in my living room and put fans in my attic to prevent mold. What?! What!? How is this happening?!!! After rolling around my roof for a while then blowing all the way over the house into the pool and one of the legs scraping up my pebbletec, with one of the legs coming down so hard so close to a giant window it scratched it, just barely not putting the leg straight through one of our biggest windows, I had to try to climb up onto my patio roof to unseat a leg that had punched between tiles, the whole thing at that point wedged between parts of my roof and pool and window and bent so many ways it was already shaped like a W, and when I got it unlatched the whole thing crumpled into the pool like a tin can. It’s completely unrecognizable and I was almost strangled by the tent top when trying to untangle it from the twisted mass of metal so I could get this massive mess out of my pool and to stop punching holes in my roof and yard with its bent parts. We are literally having to put off the solar panels we were saving up to get in Jan because of how much money I’m having to put into house repairs over this debacle. I’m absolutely never buying a tent carport ever again. It would have been cheaper for me to spend thousands of dollars on a pergola!! My brand new house, I never even thought I’d get a house and now it’s so damaged and hurt, my heart is heavy :( and it’s just adding insult to injury that we had passed the 30 day prime return window literally the day this thing roly polied it’s way over my fence and up my roof, through my roof/patio/AC/living room/gables, bringing drips into my living room, probably damaging my chimney… I’ve spent the last few weeks going up on my house trying to fix it, and just realized I should probably post a review for anyone else in areas with monsoons. I mean it when I say a 2-3k pergola or extended roof section would have been less costly for me than this… this thing I have flashbacks about now. We are super sad about this whole thing, I’ve cried multiple times and apologized over and over to my husband for offering our renter a parking tent and ruining our budget for the next year. Summary: this thing went for a hike on my roof and did a ton of damage to my house from wind even though it was very very tied down. It would have been cheaper to drop thousands of dollars on a solid pergola. My roof is damaged, my AC is damaged, my vent fans are damaged, I’ve had water leaking in because of it, it ripped up my fence, blew back down off the roof into my pool, and barely didn’t break a huge window as it came down (partially through) the patio roof into the pool. All while very carefully tied and staked down as per instructions. We can’t afford this and it feels like an insult that we can’t at least get a refund of this couple hundred dollars since it ended up costing me so much more anyway. Our budget for the whole year is damaged, this is my biggest mistake in a long time. It didn’t even work a couple weeks and now I’ve spent weeks on my roof fixing ripped shingles and bent metal- I never could have expected this thing to snap itself off the mounts on the ground and fly up to roll around my roof. I would not recommend people in Phoenix/AZ buy this. Our monsoons are incompatible with the product.
