This is a nice tool to have because you can free just the cable from the chain to wrap around the sapling tree. I am pulling small (under 4" diameter) volunteer saplings and this tool is strong enough for the job. I went online and found out how to make a tool for pulling trees using a 4" pipe and a logging chain --- it is heavy and cumbersome to use .... this product is 'right sized' for what I am doing so I only use the home made tool on saplings over 4" in diameter. ... show more

This was definitely not what I was expecting. It is not a very large chain. I would not feel comfortable using this with anything larger than maybe a small metal barbed-wire fence post. I was expecting a much heavier duty chain. If you are ok with a chain that looks more like a bike lock, than this would fit the bill. ... show more

When we were working on a fence project we spent quite a bit of time wrapping a long chain around post and hooking it over our tractor bucket. I wish we'd had this at the time as it would have been quite a bit quicker and more convenient. This isn't a large chain and cable, so I will be cautious about pulling large or heavily cemented post out, but for average fence posts it is sturdy and will get the job done.
