I got this frame to try and use with my tempur pedic ergo smart base. It fits but is very tight. Good enough for what I need it for. Basically just cosmetic when using an adjustable base. You need to unscrew all the wood that supports the beams that would support your mattress and not use the metal T frame in the center.

We were finally able to put this bed together and with one mix up- which was my fault - however, my husband and I easily got this bed together (the reason I need to help is his eyes are too bad to read and see photos on institutions). Even when we put this one beginning part backwards (which was my fault as the instructions were clear)- my husband caught it and went back and quickly fixed it- without having to take the rest of what we had done after- apart. All you need to put together this bed is an Allen wrench- and two are included with this order. Also, you get a couple of extra screws- which is nice (at least I hope they were extra ;). The instructions were easy to follow and all the parts were marked with a number that corresponded to the sticker on the specific part you needed at each step in the instructions. Also, all the screws were lettered- and were in a corresponding bag lettered the same as the instructions. What I liked the best about this bed is that : 1. Around the bed frame is the same texture fabric as what is on the headboard. So, if a child bumps into the side of the bed- there is fabric there - and a little padding. Plus, it looks really classy (especially in the dark gray color I got). 2. The slats that go under the mattress (all the wooden bars that are there to provide support for the mattress)- are grouped together in a set of five- one set for the top of the bed and one for the bottom. There is velcro on the sides of the bed frame and then on the slats- that hold these slats in the position that you put them. I had never seen this before, velcro holding slats in place on a bed- and I thought it was a very creative way to solve the problem of slats that can move. When we were finished with its construction, the general-sized twin mattress that we got- fit perfectly and felt great. Also, no box spring is needed however, the headboard is adjustable based on where your mattress thickness is (and I would think, if you want to add box springs you can, for the height)- another boon to having this bedframe. There are a few items on Amazon that I have said are the "best of the best"-- however they are few and far between (and I see a lot). I have never counted how many items I have said this about but I know that it is probably around ten and definitely less than twenty (way closer to ten). This is one of those items- best of the best- when it comes to design, the ease of how this bed goes together, and the top quality of the item itself- not just the way it looks but the way it functions too. Please check out the photos that I took of the item as we put it together and forgive me that my camera ran out of space before we got it completely done (but my husband is putting down the last slat in the last photo that I took so technically the bed frame is done- there is not mattress on it thou). However, the bed does look exactly as photographed when finished- however, I believe you can tell that, even with photos of the bed frame unfinished (and forgive me as I did not get the side of the bed photographed, which show that the fabric of the frame continues around the sides).
