  • Vibrate your lips to play
Luckily a trumpet player gave me a demonstration of the technique for producing sound before I gave it to my 7 year old! Beautiful instrument

  • Amazing value. Not perfect.
I played French horn for years when I was young. Never played much trumpet. FIngerings are the same but an octave apart. Oh yeah, other hand too, but somehow my brain doesn't mind. This thing is totally legit and totally adorable. My one complaint is that the third valve is a little slow. I tried oiling it (with sunflower oil) and I think that helped a little. Could probably use a stiffer spring. But it is amazing that you can get a decent tiny small cornet thing for this price. My coronaproject: getting my lip endurance back. Wish me luck. ... show more

  • Stuffy
I bought this cornet for my 5 year old Grandson so he could get used to buzzing and learn fingering. Over Thanksgiving i played it alot. Really nice upper register, slots easily. BUT, everything below middle G is stuffy and no third valve tuning slide or trigger. The D is way way off. Even i had a rough time lipping it down enough. Plus, the cornet V mouthpiece was much harder to learn on. I ended up replacing mouthpiece for him w a travel mouthpiece i always keep in my suitcase and he felt better and had more success. I have bought his brothers pocket trumpets, and i may replace this one. ... show more

  • For a beginner.
Not the best sound quality & one of the valves feels a little mushy, but for a beginner, not too bad a choice. Particularly for kids, whose parents don't want to put a lot of $ into a kid's 1st instrument. Overall quality consummate w/ price.

  • a scrunched-up cornet that works!
This is a small cornet, similar to what is called a "pocket trumpet." They look like a scrunched-up version of the real thing (and they are more affordable). It sounds just like a cornet. I love this horn, but keep the valve oil handy. The valves stick. You may need to apply the oil frequently. But that is not a big problem. It is easily solved. It is still s fun horn. ... show more

  • Don't believe the hype
This is indistinguishable from a pocket trumpet. It even uses a trumpet mouthpiece. That makes it a pocket trumpet.

  • Play away!
I decided to start playing again. Good sound and the small size is nice.
