Don't know how well they protect against a real snake bite, but they do seem tough enough for that in my zero snake experience. The major complaint is that one has to tighten the straps pretty tight to keep them from sliding down on the jeans covered leg. They tend to slide down till they are pushing on the top of your shoes, which is fine but not comfortable for full day wearing. Other than that they are good for quick on/off as we use them in the ID outback.

These fit great & you’ll forget you’re wearing them. I left em on all day the morning they arrived just to see if they’d get bothersome, and they didn’t. I foresee using them a lot for cross country bushwhacking. Great value for the money and real easy to put on/off. They stay put too.

I used these for a week when I was hog hunting in South Texas and honestly, whenever I was wearing them, I forgot I had them on. They offer great protection without the discomfort of feeling too hot. I am only giving ⭐⭐⭐⭐ because of my only beef: there were times, while putting them on, the adjustment straps did not stay where I placed them, however they did stay in place while on. Overall, great product for the price and most of all, security with the protection that is offered.
