Based on these helpful reviews (thanks folks!) I purchased the size XL and they were PERFECT!! These gators came up all the way to the bottom of his knee cap !! Fit pretty much like the photo. He was blown away.....he could never find a pair this tall before. They are super durable and after all the wear this year, I noticed when I cleaned them up and packed away, that they weren't worn looking, at all. He put them on, hooked onto his shoe laces with that clever lower hook and never fiddled with them the rest of the day. They stayed put ! These are awesome!! Already walked through knee deep snow and water up to my shin. It keeps your feet nice and dry just make sure your shoes are water proof! Also makes walking through sagebrush a lot more tolerable. Your shins will love you! ONLY down side is the metal buckle is right on the ground so I've bent it a couple times. I just bend it back and it works again. In the next version please move that metal buckle off of the ground. Overall would recommend! ... show more

Now I know why the army used wraps from the boots to the knees. These gaitors are a great option. They kept legs warm in the rain. They also kept the rain out of shoes. These are quality. I've had expensive gaiters and these I'd put up against any of them. Time will tell regarding durability, but thus far they've stood up to briars, scrub, privot thickets, water, and so on. Stitching is well done and under strap tough, also coated which is a nice touch. a few design tweaks and these would be even better - I use these for hunting. Doesn't make sense to have camo with flashy bright stainless laces hook and strap buckle. I'll paint them black - cinch strap needs to be a snap buckle instead of the pull through tab. You have to take the cinch strap fully out to get gaiters off - make logo less noticeable. Darker green, brown, black, etc. Bright green works in spring but not fall or winter ... show more

I use these with low top sneakers or hiking boots while working on a farm with briers, tall grass, and snakes and insects. I used to wear knee-high rubber boots, but they are hot and cause rashes on my legs in summer. I switched to gaiters so I could have protection from scrapes, bugs, and snake bites. I bought a high end set from a local store and had to return them after a short time because the threads were coming loose and they weren't very adjustable, so they moved around a lot. I have come to expect the same from many budget sporting goods items I find here on Amazon, but this product surprised me. Fit: These gaiters don't offer much adjustment for the part that wraps around your leg, but the retaining straps at the top hold them up without needing to be too tight. The best part is, these don't twist around or fall during use like the first pair I had did, and they don't let debris in at the top.. The bottom strap is well made and stitched. I like the hook on the bottom for grabbing laces, but feel it would be better if the leg part was rotated 180 degrees so the velcro is at the back. the bottom velcro tab gets caught on briers and stuff I am curious to see how these hold up this summer. I will use them 2-4 hours a day, 6-7 days a week. I don't think they are truly snake bite rated, but better than nothing. They are holding up to briers so far, saved me from a few scrapes while fixing fences today. ... show more

Bought these for my work. I have to regularly walk around houses through knee deep snow and got tired of tracking snow into the homes and wet pants. It took a minute to figure out there is a left and right side and how to get them on and off quickly. That done, these are great, fit over either my shoes or my Sorels.
