I've tried at least five of the terrible boom arms that are sold on Amazon and returned them all as defective. Stumbled across this stand on sale while looking for something more sturdy and it's so much better. Even with a Blue Snowball on the arm, fully extended, the weight is balanced stable. Construction of this is very solid instead of the flimsy paper thin metal of the cheaper options. Save yourself some hassle and pick up one of these. This is pretty much what you expect from a micstand for kick drums. I use it on a desk for podcasting. It works fine but the base is not heavy enough for bigger microphones. I added some counterbalance to make it work.
