  • Exactly what I wanted for years!
I spend a lot of time driving in my car. And since I get between multiple states I just couldn't rely on conventional radio: once you find a decent radio station you already pass the town and need to start looking for a new station. So, when time came by and Internet radio stations came available among with reliable cell phone/internet reception, I immediately switched to Tune-in radio app in my phone. But then I got a problem: how to connect/pair/attach my phone to my car speakers? Over last 13 years I tried everything: wired, wireless, RF FM connections and adapters. Physical connection via headphone jack wouldn't work due to interference noise. Same with RF FM modulators. Eventually I came to conclusion that Bluetooth was the ideal way to listen radio in my car. However, I also needed a separate way of hands-free way of talking over the phone. Separated BT headset fixed that problem - none of the other hands-free car stereos would work - it was too noisy in my car to carry any reliable way of holding conversation while driving. You see how picky I am when it comes to my car radio! So, here's what I was looking for a car stereo: - Decent powerful 4 channel amplifier - Bluetooth connection to play only media streams, but not phone calls - MAIN REQUIREMENT: not to shine as a Christmas Tree!!! And that was a problem. All other car stereos had so many super bright LED lights on them, that it became too destructive for me to drive on a road. I don't need blinking multiple lights in my car radio. I don't need to my volume knob to shine as the brightest rainbow. When I drive I need to concentrate on driving and on the road - not on a stereo. In my mind if something blinks or shines in my car - it takes my attention away from the road. And unless there's an emergency, I don't need to see the display of my radio. Unfortunately that was the only car stereo/radios available. I spend years searching for stereo that doesn't shine as a Christmas tree and have bluetooth function. More bright lights, more shiny blinking things - yes. Plain and simple radio - no. I found one model from Sony (RSXGS9 Hi-Res Audio Media Receiver), but it cost $1600 - which was too spensive! Finally I found this Pyle Hydra. Hura!!!! That was exactly what I wanted: no light at all, BT connection and 4 channel amp. I installed it and couldn't be happier - I simply love it! Pros: - BT connection for media streaming only - 4 ch powerful amp - quite decent sound quality - Does NOT shine as Christmas Tree!!!!! Cons: - Volume controller works effectively only on first 1/4 turn - the rest of the positioning doesn't adjust the volume much. On the first 1/4 turn it goes to about 90 percent of max volume and the rest half circle gradually increases to 100 percent. Not the best of a scale to control the volume - The volume knob could be glowing a little bit. Not much. Maybe painted with light-reflective pain? Definitely NOT by LED light. I would love if it would slightly glow in the dark, so I wouldn't miss it when I need to adjust the volume. Overall I simply love this device. And yes, I certainly would recommend it to others. ... show more

  • Light weight small size good for price
3.5mm jack extension doesn’t work and volume knob plug in doesn’t work either but the amp does the job and for the price not terrible

  • Cheap amp for a golf cart
I bought this to power speakers in my golf cart. This was easy to install and conceal in the dash of the golf cart. This seems to put out ok power. I'm not sure if this amp, my speakers, or a combination of the two, but the punch factor is underwhelming. Overall, it suits the purpose of powering speakers for my cart, has bluetooth to allow me to connect a phone, and was easy to install and setup. I would purchase again, but would prob. review some other products before clicking buy. ... show more

  • I own three of these for my classic vehicles
After numerous attempts for introducing BLUETOOTH into my 1973 Monte Carlo, my 1974 Corvette and my 1938 Chevrolet Panel Truck using Autosound (JUNK) and Retrosound (EVEN WORSE) radios, and a FM antennae connected jacked audio input (TERRIBLE SOUND) I stumbled across the Pyle Hyra. Though it is primarily designed for use on a boat, I hooked them up in the three aforementioned vehicles. Here's my take: PRICE - Excellent for what you get. Under $60 - Fantastic! WATTAGE - Advertised as 400 Watt, but I have no way of measuring it, but all three are hooked up to decent Pioneer 6x9 and 4x10 speakers (4 each) and its loud enough. In my 383 Stroker Corvette rumbling loudly through chambered (no muffler) exhaust, with the T-Tops off and windows down at speeds in excess of 70 mph I can hear all the nuances of the music being played. SOUND QUALITY - About a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. It's a simple device, it is not an expensive audiophile's wet dream. On my 1973 Monte Carlo, I wired it into a Graphic Equalizer (Circa 1983 - like I used to have) and with that in-line before the speakers I have a huge range of adjustability in the sound coming out of the speakers - which brings it up to a solid 9.5. EASE OF INSTALLATION - Clearly a 10. You'd have to have an extra chromosome present if you're experiencing installation issues. DURABILITY - All three have been running well. No issues to speak of. The Corvette's installed location is under the passenger seat, where it is sandwiched between the seat and the floorboard. It works just fine, doesn't get hot or overheated even in long trips. OVERALL - It's a great solution to the other impracticable options that I've tried - some cost 3x this amount. ONLY COMPLAINT - I wish there was an alternative remote volume control available than the one provided. It's ugly and large (well it was made for a boat and to be waterproof) and doesn't bode well with the cockpit of any of my vehicles mentioned, so I do not use it. Though thumbing around with my iPhone to adjust volume and shifting gears is less than desirable. I may hide the volume control someplace under the dash. I plan on purchasing two more to update my 1941 Chevrolet PU Truck and my 1989 Z24 to having Bluetooth. ... show more

  • Awesome price point
I used this amp while I was building my system. I have no head unit in my vehicle so I needed the Bluetooth which connects easily. I powered four small door speakers then I bought 4 6x9’s in addition and ran 8, 4 ohm speakers and it was amazing I only upgraded my amp when I added a 12 inch sub. I should say though that before my new amp arrived this one was driving my DVC 4ohm sub and 4 speakers. Not bad Pyle not bad! ... show more
