I have the worst time finding a good pillow. I'm a side sleeper, I have old neck pains that come back frequently, and I always struggle to find the balance between supportive but soft. After trying this out for a couple of weeks, it hits the mark for me. At first, I thought it might be too soft, even though I got the tall version. (For the record, I am only 5'8", but I am heavy with wide shoulders). But the texture of it is so bouncy that it does a good job of being soft but still supportive. I sink into it, which I love, but the latex is springy and "fills in the gaps". As for the cooling claims, I do not find it to be super cooling, but it also is not too hot. It's cool when you first lie on it but it does heat up after a while. I will probably try a more cooling pillowcase than the one I currently use and see if that prolongs the cool effect. Overall, I've been sleeping well on it. I do not have to adjust it in the middle of the night since it bounces back and does not bunch up or get lumpy. I will report back if that changes over time, but for now, I think it was worth the high price. ... show more

My significant other and I both really like the Harmony tall pillows. They are supportive and maintain a comfortable body temperature—not too hot or cold. We also use silk pillowcases, and we love the soft, smooth feel they add to the pillows. We tried the Harmony medium pillow but found it too soft with insufficient support. The tall pillow is also soft but offers the support we need for a better night's sleep. The Purple website provides suggestions and pictures to help choose the right pillow height. However, we’ve found that their recommendations are not always accurate. According to their website, the medium should suit my SO well, but we found the tall pillow to be a better fit. These pillows are the most expensive we’ve ever purchased, but they truly feel like we’re sleeping on a cloud and alleviated a neck and back problem. ... show more

I read about these pillows and despite the price, I had to try it, since pillows are so important. It arrived quickly and had no odor at all. I first got the medium but found it too thin. I sleep on my side mostly and was afraid that tall would be hard on my neck. I exchanged it for tall, and it is significantly higher, but the pillow gives enough that it is not an issue. It's extremely comfortable. I don't have issues with hot pillows, so can't comment on that. It does not feel like gel. It does not feel like memory foam. I've tried those both and did not like them. This feels like a cloud. It is supportive but soft-hard to describe. It's unlike anything I've tried before. I've read that some people find that it doesn't last long. If that happens I will write a follow up. For now I am extremely pleased and I think it was worth the money if it lasts a few years. Again, there was absolutely no odor, as some have described. The purple pillow is one of the greatest, adjustable and provides an outstanding sleep quality. My biggest appraisal for this item is that it DOES help with neck pain, and headaches. I've noticed a HUGE difference from my old pillows to this pillow. BUT my biggest problem with this pillow, is that it still runs pretty hot when you lay on it. I have tried every pillow around, I have a spinal cord injury that makes me VERY picky about my pillow. Price seemed a bit high but I said if it’s really that good it would be worth it. Arrived and I put it in a pillowcase and left it on my bed. Went to bed as normal, and figured I would be switching to my old pillow just because nothing can be perfect right out of the box, but I woke up 8 hours later and had slept so well. Update: I bought this beginning of May. It’s is now the end of July. Not even yet 4 months! This pillow lost its umph. My head sinks down pretty far and I wake up with neck and shoulder pain. There is now ZERO support. For the amount that this pillow cost, $200, it should last longer than 3 to 4 months. I cannot tell you how angry with this I am. I feel scammed. It’s a total pile of b.s. I absolutely do not recommend. If it only lasts 3 or so months, I’m definitely not buying another one. Went from 5 stars to negative stars. I originally got the medium height one. I felt like it wasn’t enough so exchanged it for the tall loft one. I got it inside, opened it up and put a pillow case on it. Then laid on it to see if it was indeed what I needed. And I kid you not, I fell asleep in under 2 minutes. I’m an insomniac, so randomly falling asleep just never happens. This thing is perfect for me. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect pillow for over a year, and was always disappointed. I am really looking forward to bed time tonight. I also really like and appreciate how this thing arrived. It came in a big box. When I opened it, the pillow was there in all its wonderful glory. Thick, fluffy and squishy just waiting for me. It was wrapped in plastic so not to get dirty during transit, so it was pristine. But the point is, it arrived ready to use. I’ve never had an Amazon bought pillow arrive like that. They’ve always arrived flat and compressed. Then you have to air it out to inflate and destink it for HOURS. Purple pillow wasn’t like that. Like I said, ready to use without structural integrity being compromised. So I appreciate the presentation of it. Cause I mean, you spend 200 bucks on a pillow, you wanna feel like a boss when opening it. So. I’m really pleased and hope it lasts a long time. UPDATE: You cannot use fancy percale pillowcases on the tall purple. By the time you get the pillow stuffed in the case, it’s pretty tight and has no give. Had to buy jersey knit pillowcases. Needs a stretchy pillowcase to allow for it to giveaway to your head and movement. Also not really getting a cooling effect. Kinda makes me sweat actually.
