I am in my early 60s and have slept on a carpeted floor with nothing but a sleeping bag or quilt for padding; for some 30 plus years. This regimen suited my back. As a side sleeper i have in the past year noticed that my hips start to ache. Its worse on the left ( preferred side). I tried a conventional quilted, soft fill matress topper and found it to be of some help but it stopped short of being really comfortable. On researching the alternatives, it was apparent that memory foam and latex were the two main options. Within each there are a range of properties too, depending how the foam is manufactured ... The benefit of latex is that its response time to regain its shape is fast. Certain types of memory foam by comparison make you feel like you sink into a cocoon. I personally dislike this feeling especially when turning or getting in or out of bed. I purchased a 2 inch medium firmness latex topper. It most definitely took the hadness factor out of sleeping on the floor. I even found myself wanting to try sleeping on my stomach. Curious about how the 3 inch thick version would compare, I purchased one. Initial findings after a week. The 3 inch defintely feels more comfortable / luxurious. Both though are excellent at supporting and relieving the pressure points inherent with sleeping on the side. It really comes down to personal preferences on the level of firmness. Eventhough I returned this topper, I will give it five stars because I'm sure for someone looking for the specs (medium firm and 2 inch) I think this would work for them depending on how they sleep (side, back, etc). After reading lots of reviews, I decided to order firm, 2". Well, that was a mistake. I'm a side sleeper and I have a firm bed, which i was trying to make softer because my back pain was unbearable. This topper did not soften my bed. My husband said, I should have ordered 3". However, I decided to look at SleepOnLatex website and read that for side sleepers, it is recommended that you purchase soft. I called them directly and the customer rep was very pleasant and confirm that I mostly likely to better with a soft being that I was a side sleeper. She pulled up my order from Amazon and offered to send me a bigger box that will fit the topper (because the topper is originally shipped compressed, once decompressed it will not fit in the original box). I returned the topper and ordered a 3" soft. i'm very happy with the soft topper. It gave my bed some cushion without the sinking in feeling (I previously had a memory foam topper and initially it worked but after a while, I just sank into the bed and had difficulty getting out. I suggest before ordering go onto their website and even call them, because what works for some people even if they sleep same side as you, might not work for you. ... show more

I bought this because I wanted a non toxic topper. I’ve owned it for two years and it is a disaster. You can’t change the sheets of the bed without having tiny pieces of confetti like foam crumble off the top.

We have a King bed but ordered 2 Twin XL, which equal a King. To buy 2 Twin XL's instead of a single King size cost a bit more but here is why I decided to do it this way. I wasn't sure if I needed a soft or medium to help with my shoulder and quality of sleep and I didn't want to buy the wrong one and then have to return it to try another. My wife sleeps well and wouldn't care which she got (soft or medium) so my thought was to get the Twin XL's in the different firmness range, sleep on each one a few nights to see which one worked the best for me. Well it worked like a charm! I ended up preferring the Medium and wife loves the Soft. There is a slight, slight odor to the toppers when you first remove them from the plastic but nothing like I've smelled with other foam type mattresses and pillows. My mother in law has a topper from another manufacturer that uses fillers and it has a much stronger smell. She also paid more for it. I'm a 90% side sleeper, 6% stomach, 3% back and 1% how did I end up in this strange position sleeper. This topper has improved my quality of sleep and helped my shoulder, which I had surgery on, and I'm more than happy with this purchase. Am I glad that I got the 2 Twin XL's in different firmness' than take a chance on a King and guess which firmness would be best? YOU BETCHA! It was worth it the for peace of mind. I've included some pictures so you can see what to expect as far as the size of the boxes as well as the toppers on the bed before placing the fitted sheet over them. Thank you SleepOnLatex for a fantastic product! UPDATE: May 8th 2016 - We are loving our latex toppers and decided to better protect them from possible tearing with a topper cover. The same seller of these toppers, Sleep On Latex, also sell a cover but not on Amazon. I found them on SOL's (hehe) website. Not sure why they don't sell them on Amazon but maybe that'll will change in the future. Now I did find a very popular cover here on Amazon from another company and it is a 40% cotton / 60% polyester blend. The cover we got from Sleep On Latex is 80% cotton / 20% polyester and it is very nice. Fits our toppers PERFECTLY! I've added a couple more photos to include the new covers. UPDATE: December 24th 2016 - We are still enjoying these toppers. No problem whatsoever and no sagging or lasting body impressions. The covers have help up and still look new.
