    • Good investment when you can't afford a new mattress

with lower back and neck pain, and unable to afford a new mattress this season, after much research I purchased this mattress topper. It's firm, but not uncomfortable, and gives a great deal of support. no bad smell. I did purchase the medium firmness at first, but exchanged it for the firm, since i still felt that indentation in my actual mattress with the medium. Amazon and Pure Green quickly refunded my original purchase price. If you go elsewhere be sure you can return the topper, not every seller allows that. It's affordable, and if it lasts till next year when mattresses go on sale, I'll consider it a good investment, as does my back. Definitely invest in a cover for the topper to preserve your investment, and as the latex may be a little warm for sleeping for some. And if you do return it, here's a hint on how to get it back in the box - keep the plastic in which it was sent, wrap it up and suck all the air out of that with a vacuum hose. then wrap it with packing tape. it was a two person job, but it worked. ... show more

    • I was very skeptical at first but it really is amazing!

Approximately 18 months ago we bought a very expensive luxury firm mattress that has not lived up to it's name. The softness has given me a backache for the last 6 months. I did a lot of research and thought it was almost impossible to make a soft mattress firm until I found the Pure Green website. Being skeptical and as a last resort effort I ordered the 2" firm topper. With these new size mattresses I did not want to order the 3" topper because it would make the mattress really high! The topper arrived yesterday and it was very heavy. Since I didn't want to bother my husband who was working in the yard, I decided to do this myself. I carefully cut the box and got the pad out. It is shrink -wrapped very tight so I rolled it down the hall to the bedroom. No way could I have picked this up by myself. Once in the bedroom I started to unwrap the pad and it grew to the king size I had ordered. As it grew, it became fully sized within a plastic bag...amazing! Because of the weight and size of the king I decided to leave it in the bag until I got it onto the bed so I wouldn't tear it. It slid on the bed easier because of the bag, but it also slid off easier too. After wrestling with it for about 5 minutes I finally got it positioned and then proceeded to slide the bag off. That was the easiest part. I also allowed a few hours for it to air out before dressing the bed. I awoke this morning without back pain for the first time in months. The 2" gives plenty of firmness and I could change positions during the night without back pain. For those skeptics out there, don't wait.....order it. I'm glad I did. ... show more

Finally, we found the perfect topper. After researching several other toppers looking for the firm topper we felt we needed, we found one that works for both my husband and myself. Our situation? Both of us have degenerative discs...me in the neck requiring cervical fusion of 4 vertebrae and other discs that are just plain wearing out due to arthritis and age. My husband also has back issues...scoliosis due to a mild case of polio and disc issues in lumbar area plus shoulder pain, arthritis and assorted aches and pains of getting older. We're retired, in our latest 60s and both would benefit from losing some excess weight. Sleeping at night was uncomfortable to say the least. We replaced our mattress but wanted to keep it in good condition so we. bought a memory foam mattress topper at Costco and put it on the bed to start with. It began to show signs of flattening and not being supporative out after about 2-3 years. Replaced it with another brand at Costco and that one too began to do the same. The mattress had never been without a topper on it & it was in great condition so we tried sleeping without the topper. The bed felt great, firm and no aches or pains in the mornings. But we still wanted to protect our mattress from eventually sagging so the search was on for a different topper. We searched website after website for "the best topper for back pain"...and learned a great deal about the different materials and types of toppers. Density varies greatly too...2-3lb density is softer and 4-5 lbs firmer. Memory foam is the most readily available kind of topper, also the least expensive and to us they seem to offer the least support. We did purchase a "layered topper" of 4lb density on top with 5lb density underneath, ILD of 19 I think. Tested it out for less than 15 minutes and returned it the same day. Felt like we were being sucked into a marshmallow. That was supposed to be firm? More research taught us that latex is much firmer and lasts longer than memory foam with less if any "cratering" where you lay on it. There are two types of latex toppers, one (talalay) that is about 40% latex and the rest is fibers and other man made materials other is Dunlop. They are different methods of how the toppers are made. 100% latex is more supportive, no odor, and of course more expensive. Yep, you really do get what you pay for. We decided that 100% natural latex was what we wanted and Firm was what we needed. More research lead us to Pure Green. I spoke to Jennifer in their customer support and she inquired about our specific needs and gave us recommendations. We decided on the 2" firm topper that has a density of 5.9lbs and an ILD rating of 44. I'm so glad we did. It is firm, but it still cushions our hips and shoulders. Not being sucked down into the topper like with memory foam and we both wake up feeling about as good as 67 years old gets! One caution...this sucker is heavy!!! King sized must be around 50 lbs....the stickers on the box that say HEAVY Cautiion Lifting aren't just there because they are pretty (although they are). If you are looking for a firm topper, do your research and be sure to take a look at Pure Green100% latex toppers. We are very happy we did! ... show more

This mattress topper is the firmness I want but came with deep tears in the latex. Also some places on the end looked scuffed and rough. Please respond on what to do about this.
