The media could not be loaded. I purchased the Puraflame Alice 50” fireplace. This is pretty darn realistic. There are many lighting options to choose from (flame color, crystal color “ember bed”). Great color combinations. I have the cystals off and use the orange with a random blue . When turning unit on there are buttons on bottom right that light up (power, flame, heater,etc). Those go away after making your selection and waiting a sec or so. I have the faux logs on top of the crystal bed. It does have a thermostat on it. So if you set for a temp and the heater doesnt come on check to see what the thermostat is set at. Nice feature. Many units dont have that. Heater works fine for taking the chill off our basement (400 sq ft). I dont find it very loud at all. Might sound like a fan on low setting or less. Unit is installed recessed with its own dedicated out outlet (this was done as part of a remodel). Extremely please with this unit.

This was absolutely perfect for our back screened in porch. Aesthetically, the unit is sleek and good lines. The amount of display options are fun and plentiful. Surprisingly, the heating element works much better than I thought it would, it’s 38 degrees and within an hour the porch feels delightful. I would highly recommend Puraflame and this unit, very pleased!

I was a little wary ordering this fireplace. We had a neighbor install one and he paid almost 3x as much. However, after unboxing and installing this, I could not be much happier. This fireplace has a really nice looking flame and the crystal/log bed looks really good. Install was not bad. In fact it was harder to find straight lumber than it was to mount the FP. Instructions are sufficient. I ran a separate 20a circuit for power since I had open walls, but it says it will run on a standard 15a. My only complaint would be the heat output. It’s a little weak, even on high. On the plus side the fan is relatively quiet and you can feel heat coming off of it, so you know it’s working!

Installation instructions were not the best, but the install was pretty straight forward. I built an entertainment center and had a hole cut into the 3/4" plywood to install this fireplace. I had to add to the bottom of the hole in order to support the fireplace and to help keep the face of the fireplace parallel with the face of the plywood. The end product is very nice looking and functions properly. It's not going to be primary heat but does add a bit of warmth to the immediate space. The only thing that is a downside is the fan is not unnoticeable (I'm probably being a little greedy), it's not super loud but it also seems a little louder than necessary for how much air it moves.

Addendum: I see so many questions about actual dimensions of the insert and clearance. You can download the Pdf of the owner's /installation manual and it shows all the dimensions. I've added a couple of photos of those pages, and a photo of the wall showing the 2x4 frame before I covered it with drywall. I've had this for two years now, and I LOVE this fireplace. It costs about 1/4 of what I paid for a more expensive unit from another company, and has more/better features. This one allows you to select a wide range of colors to light the crystal bed, blues, reds, greens, purples, white, so you can give a different look to the room. The flames are adjusted separately and can be all orange, orange and blue, or all blue. It's mesmerizing to watch. The flames look similar to what you'd see in those modern gas fireplaces. Not as random as a wood fire, but not fake-looking, either. I wanted a unit that could be inset into the wall for a flush look, any many units don't allow that. The heat vents out the front on top, so this unit is designed to be flush mounted. Pretty easy to install, just build a 2x4 frame to the opening size described in the manual. It only requires 6" of depth. You'll need to wire an outlet box inside the wall, so it helps to have a power source nearby. It's convenient to use, just turn it on or off like a light, no stoking a fire, no gas lines to run. And you can have a fire even when it's a hot summer night! Very modern, sleek look with the all-glass front panel. It's completely silent as long as the heater fan is not on. I highly recommend this unit.
