I moved to Arizona from Colorado recently and the tap water in Arizona is treated with so many chemicals and minerals it does not taste good and I don't trust it too drink every day.     • Arrived wet but it works.

Arrived with product box demolished but the inner plastic packaging was still sealed. Some of the carbon had spilled out and made a mess and the cartridge was dripping wet. First time I’ve ever gotten a wet one. An internet search said that is common and not to worry. It was packaged wet. I called Pur and they said it’s common and a byproduct of the manufacturing process and not to worry. Suspicious I gave it a try. It works just fine. The filtered water is a little smoother and a little cleaner tasting and absent that slight metallic aftertaste of the regular filter. I like it more than the Pur regular or the Britta standard filter with Atlanta city water. Our city water supply starts out relatively clean and is not the least bit challenging for a carbon filter. If you live in a place with poor water quality this is not going to help very much. On contaminates like iron, sulfur and minerals it has no effect. Pur also lost their lead certification for this filter and the new packaging no longer makes that claim but for removing chlorine and sediments it works great.     • A great waer filter. They don't last quite as long as Pur says they should. They are definitely worth the cost.

I finally took my doctor's advice and got rid of the diet soda and changed to water. I did a little research and found the reviews put Pur a nose or two above the competition. The difference between the taste AND SMELL of filtered water vs. tap is amazing. I went about a week drinking tap water and was ready to go back to soda. I went out and bought the 18 cup dispenser. I like the fact that it sits in my refrigerator and all I need do is hit the tap to pour water into my glass. For me it that is more convenient that a pitcher. I see someone wrote that Pur no longer sends the little calendar wheels with the filters. My last batch did have them. It's an inconvenience, but I would not take a star away if the next box I order came without them. In the end it is my senses of taste and smell that dictate when the filter needs to be changed.For what it's worth (you might want to keep this in mind when you're calculating what you may be spending over the course of a year for filters), I never come close to the 64 ounces of water my doctor says I am supposed to get every day. I live alone. I have found the filters are pretty much spent and not doing their job at the six-week mark. You might want to keep that in mind. I suspect it would not make it past a month for a family. To be honest, the little calendars are nice, but not overly necessary. My nose and taste buds do a pretty good job of alerting me that a filter change is needed. If you are like me and have been getting your hydration from sources that you know are not the best for you, give the Pur system a chance. It took me about a week to get over my soda 'Jones.'     • A perfect, 2-year experience with PUR filters

I've been using my PUR pitcher for about 2 years. During that time it has performed perfectly! I refill the pitcher reservoir just about every day (having drunk the previous day's filtered water during that prior 24-hour period). Based on some of the 1 or 2-star reviews I've read here, I guess I've been exceptionally lucky. I've gone through about 10 filters in 2 years, and EVERY filter has performed admirably. And the filtering process -- after filling the upper reservoir with our already-tasty, Seattle tap water -- has never taken more than 4 minutes. Before using each new filter I simply follow the pre-prep direction as recommended by PUR. And so, I've enjoyed 2 years of quick, easy, (seemingly) fail-proof service. The best thing I like about the water created by the PUR filter? Well, while our municipal tap water tastes great, BUT, I've found that that tap water, left in a glass on the countertop, develops a slight "chemical" taste by the 2nd day. But water from the PUR filter, left in a glass, tastes great even 3 or 4 days later. In fact, come to think of it, I put PUR filtered water into the reservoir tank on my Keurig 2.0 coffee maker. And, even after a week in the Keurig tank (I only make about one cup of coffee about every other day), that water tastes excellent (i.e., it has NO taste). Oh, and no -- I have NO connection with PUR, nor do I know anyone involved in any way with that company -- I design elegant, custom-built, Eco-Sea Cottages houseboats. Cheers, Rod ... show more
