Top Amazon Reviews

  • Excellent performing 7250W/6000W class generator
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
I was shopping for a mid-size watt dual fuel generator and I found a great one. Sold and delivered by Amazon, this is one of the few generators that can be returned withing the 30 day period. ( verified by Amazon ). Reading some of the reviews on this generator gave me some concern , however since it was returnable ( with free Amazon pickup) I thought I would give it a try. This generator has all of the features I was searching for. !! Pulsar which is based in California produces lots of electrical generating products and has an excellent customer support group who has quickly responded back to me about a few detailed questions about this PGDA70BISCO 7250W dual fuel generator. Asking if they had more technical information, they immediately sent me the detailed parts breakout and a complete schematic of this generator. Doing my research, Pulsar has a technology sharing arrangement with Honda who makes excellent generators ( I have the Honda 2200W inverter generator for almost 8 years ) and this generator has some very familiar parts and layout ! This generator has 20Ax2 standard 120VAC GFI outlets, 1 30A 120/240V 4 pin outlet, and one other 30A 120V RV type plug. The status monitor assembly is very bright and all necessary status information is clearly visible and rotates in sequence. There are other status LEDs : power-on, overload, low oil, gas 25, 50, 75 & 100% level, as well as the CO detector fault LED. Over the past month, I have completed the 5 hour break-in period ( with various loads ) , and have run this generator on both Gas and LP. When using LP, most generators will start quickly, however when you first fill the gas tank , or when the Gas has been drained for storage, it takes most generators quite a bit of start time initially. The Pulsar started within 2 seconds the first time I filled it up with gas !! I repeated that test after I drained the tank and the carburetor ( procedure for storage ), and It again immediately started ! Not many generators except my expensive Honda inverter will do that ! All of the power sockets were checked under full load, and the low idle feature functioned flawlessly with varying loads. Output voltage remained constant, frequency and harmonic distortion we all within specifications! When the voltage selector is in the 240V output, the 4 blade L14-30R socket had 240VAC and YES 120VAC was on the designated 120V sockets !! As Specified !! Oil and gas drains are easy to get to and both have connected drain hoses which makes it easy to change the oil and drain all the gas out of the system when going into season storage ! The LIFEPO4 battery is also easy to get to and has a standard SAE connector to un-plug the battery for storage as well. You can pull the manual starter or use the fully automatic starting system which works very well. Pixs are enclosed ! As you can tell , I really impressed with this specific Pulsar generator, it's very powerful but quiet, will run on Gas or LP, Maintenace is very easy and quickly accessible, and meets or beats all published specifications. Both price and performance clearly rates 5 stars. I have only had this generator for 1 month , however it has been exercised every day and has been " drug around " and has survived some tough test loads during this test month without ANY problems !! ... show more

  • Will Run On Natural Gas without further conversion kit
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
Just want to share some information. I was replacing a Briggs 6500/5000 loud generator that I had a tri-fuel conversion kit for. We have nat gas to our house and after hurricane Sandy with hours-long gas lines, nat gas is a never ending supply ostensibly. After 11 years figured time for an upgrade and compared all available and settled on this Pulsar. No problem unpacking, connecting batt, and toiled to put together a nat gas regulator and all the needed fittings etc to add a T fitting after the internal propane regulator before the carb. Well, found that wasn't working so instead figured why not try simply running a nat gas feed right into the 3/8" flare M port on the front of the gen. Lo and behold, no gas leakage when off (as described on youtube vids) and she sparked up when cranked. After testing a number of times (cold / hot starts etc) did find it a bit difficult to start on a regular basis from cold. Tried gapping the spark plug down to about .018 vs the default .04 or so but made no difference [fyi the ignition temp for gas is about 500 degF but nat gas is about 1000]. So then reasoned that the cylinder may need to 'warm up' so now my MO is to start the gen on gas for a minute or so, stop then restart using nat gas feeding the propane port and that works fine. So far, about 2 hours run time, haven't had any issues with start button/solenoid etc . It's certainly less noisy at about 62 db idle at about 25 ft compared to the Briggs which was closer to 74, and both ramp up from there under load. Also the tone is a much more palatable than the Briggs. Very portable and liftable a bit at a time at just over 100 lbs. So far so good. ... show more

  • Sound generator
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
Seems to be a sound generator. The electric start did not work out of the box. Found a disconnected plug that fixed the problem. Was also missing the battery strap. Generator fired up second pull, remember no electric start at that time. Voltage was a little high at 247 volts (confirmed with meter) but all looked good. Readings were all accurate on display. Hook it to the house and it preformed well while not going over the half load for break in. I would say it runs louder than the claimed 62db. The Honda 7000 I was barrowing was more quiet. Would have been 5 stars if not for the things I mentioned above. ... show more
