  • Runs well on propane, adjust rpm for proper frequency
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
I won't use gasoline to avoid fuel storage and longevity issues for times it doesn't get used, but propane works great with this generator. I ran it on my home circuit for 6-7 hours on a 20lb tank. It varies but it was about a constant 2500 watt load. I did have issues initially with the generator outputting too high s frequency. I understand it does this to compensate for a full load and it would settle around 59hz when it is fully loaded. But I was getting 64.5hz with no load, and my home load still didn't bring it below 62hz. This caused my UPS battery backup's throughout the home to trip over to battery mode and never charge on generator power. After some research I found you can adjust the RPM with a screwdriver and a wrench via the linkage to the carb. I turned it to be at 60.2hz while it running my usual home load. Now the UPS's accept the power and no longer trip. It starts up quickly and easily with push button or pull start. Assembly was easy as well. It will come on a pallet from a truck with a lift gate, so be prepared to have a way to move it or assemble where they leave it. Tips for oil changes, I cut a small jug the height of the frame and slid it under for easy draining with no mess. I ran mine for the 5 hours they recommended with synthetic 5w30, then I drained and replaced with the same oil, ran it for 5 minutes, then changed it again so I know it's ready for service and all the break in metal is removed. I think for $200 more I could have gotten a similar one with a remote start, I probably would have rather done this but it's working just fine for me. ... show more

  • Has done a Great job for me
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
I have had this generator for 4 years now. I used this thing on a job site for 2 weeks with a bunch of framers plugged in to it no problem. I have lost power at my house multiple times like (8) due to multiple storms for extended period of time. This has ran my 15,000 BTU A/C and all the lights and outlets for my house and shop no problem. During Beryl we were out for 5 days and this thing was very handy and worked quite awesome. Ran cook top along with fans and window unit and never skipped a bit. It ran for 5 days straight. On a different storm 3 days straight. I have a set up to where it runs my house as long as I keep all large 220 circuits off except for cook top. Everything works no problem. It is a bit heavy and the wheels come in handy but you need 2 people to get this into a truck Just FYI. PS I disconnect the battery when I am not using it and have yet to throw a charger on it. The electric start comes in very handy. ... show more

  • Great all around generator
Style: 9500w Tri Fuel Inverter Generator
I wanted a quiet, multi-fuel, portable, whole house generator. And that's exactly what I got. An early warning though - this unit is not light. Don't think that you are going to throw it into the back of a pickup truck and like you would a more portable unit unless you have some help. Having said that, it does have 4 wheels and wheel-barrow-style handles to move it around.....and moving it is not a problem. When I need to use it, I will just roll it out of my garage and plug it into my electrical panel. It arrived on a skid just days after I ordered it. Exactly as advertised. Once you cut the box away it's easy to roll it off the skid.....just use part of the box as a ramp. It was well packaged with no damage at all. I read all directions, hooked my 20lb propane tank to it, and it started right up (you need to add oil first). Easy step-by-step. Anyone can do it. When my electricians arrived to install a transfer switch next to my electrical panel, they were intrigued that this unit could be powered by propane, natural gas, or gasoline. Once they finished the installation, we hooked up the generator to the house and turned it on. My entire house worked without a hitch. I have a 3,000 square foot house and turned everything I could on to see how much wattage was being used. I don't have the specs, but the electrician said I had room to spare. All this while just having it run by propane. The unit comes with the hoses for propane and natural gas. I have an outdoor grill on natural gas so all I had to do was purchase an expansion coupler to accommodate the bigger 1/2" gas fitting. This unit is quiet when running, but keep in mind that it still makes noise....mind your neighbors. I highly recommend this Pulsar generator. It was less expensive than the "higher-end" brands, but it is a great product. I won't be using for anything other than in case of power outages, so I'm not concerned about issues with over-use. It does seem like this product would last a long time. It is solidly built. ... show more

  • Exactly what I needed
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
Purchased this as an emergency generator for the major appliances in the house, during a power outage. Saw the many positive reviews and it was at a good price point for the rated output. The assembly was easy, requiring only a few basic tools. Battery was charged and I was easily able to start it up after a few seconds priming. Very easy to move around and store until needed. Update : Even happier .. After purchasing this generator, we had an electrician move the essential circuits to a sub panel and install a safety disconnect, so it wouldn't back feed electricity to the pole. We lost power during a snow storm and this generator was able to handle the demand for 2 days. Well pump, microwave, 2 refrigerators, as well as lights, TV and computers. Occasionally, we would hear the engine rev as there was more demand, but no brown outs. Most of the time was on gasoline, but early in the morning we were running low and it was still snowing heavily, so I switched over to propane (hose and regulator were supplied from manufacturer). Again, ran with no problems. After 3-4 hours, I did see that the propane tank and regulator were icing over and started to run a little heavier, but I think this is more related to propane, not the generator itself (it was in the mid 20's F outside). I don't think this would have happened if it were warmer out (for example during a summer storm). Once we refueled and switched back to gasoline, it ran fine, again. Very easy to switch between fuels. ... show more
