This is my first PS3. Looking back now after using this for a bit, I don't why I waited so long to jump off the Xbox titanic. I chose this bundle for the included 1 year membership to PS Plus. It's a terrific deal. Right off the bat I had access to at least $80 in games, with new titles available each month. It's easily worth 3x the cost of the membership just for the content you get. Added bonuses are access to cloud storage for save game files and automatic updates. You can configure your unit to update automatically like a PC. Unlike a PC, my PS3 will power on automatically, download game updates, OS updates, and sync my save game files to cloud storage and then automatically power down again. Genius! The other aspect I love is the flexibility of hard drive upgrades. Sony does not consider a hard drive upgrade to void the warranty as Microsoft does if you don't use a 'standard' Xbox drive kit. The upgrade process is super easy. I followed the directions online to download the latest OS update to a flash drive. I bought a 500gb 7200rpm hard drive on sale for $55 (A guy on Youtube showed how he used an SSD). The entire upgrade with OS install and everything took about 30 minutes. When you swap the drive, the system won't boot because the drive is blank with no OS. So, you boot with a controller hooked to USB cable and your flash drive with the OS update and boom! It's mostly automated in the process, format and setup the drive, install the OS, reboot, and you're done. I might be missing a step or two, but it was a snap. The included game is pretty cool too. I've never played the Uncharted series before, but I am anxious to go back and play the trilogy now. Overall, this package is a steal at what I paid I think was $249. There are a number of bundle options and they are all really competitively priced. My advice would be if, if your decision comes down to the software and hard drive size, go with the best software bundle, because the hard drive upgrades are SUPER easy to do on your own.

The console was heavier and sturdier than I expected with the size. It also fits perfectly underneath the nightstand with plenty of breathing room so it stays cool all the time. Not much noise even after playing for hours & netflix. The PS3 have such absolutely stunning HD visuals so no complaints about video quality. People keep mistaking my games with movies. No lag on start-up/shut down or when switching between games. A year of PS+ is a damn steal. I downloaded such excellent free games and demos that introduced me to even more games I otherwise would have skipped out on. The discounts are unbelievable. Now I have too many games lined up. I didn't expect much from Uncharted 3 but now I can't put it down. A+ addition to the bundle. Such engaging story and gameplay that just zaps your attention away from everything else...so now I'm looking forward to getting the rest of this great series. I thought it was exactly like Indiana Jones but damn I was wrong. I thought buying a PS3 now months before the PS4 would be a mistake but nope...absolutely worth it. Too many fun games I haven't yet played that would occupy me for a long time. Other people in the house that aren't gamers also use it often to play youtube videos & watch on netflix. 250GB is plenty for me so yep this bundle is just what I was looking for. I'd suggest downloading/updating stuff when you're about to sleep since there's a setting that automatically turns the system off when it finish installing.

I bought the bundle because I wanted the ps3, came with game of the year, and 1 YEAR of PS Plus!!!... couldn't give it a higher rating because the free 1 year membership was no where to be found!!!... and that was a big part of why I bought this bundle, most other bundles will come with much shorter trial periods, a week maybe a month, but this one advertised with a year didn`'t come with anything! that was really bad for me!!!

This is my 3rd PS3 now (the last two had the yellow light of death, bad luck I guess) and I've had each of the generations (the original "Fat", the "slim", and now this is the "slimmer" I guess) and I have to say that I absolutely hate the new design. It seems cheaply made compared to the last models and the new sliding top where you insert the disc makes me feel like I'm using a PS1 or original XBOX. The other thing I really don't like about this new design is that it seems MUCH, MUCH louder when running a disc compared to the previous designs. It's just a PS3 that looks like Walmart designed it and they wanted you to know what it's like to have an airplane take off in your house.

I needed a new PS3 to replace my old 60GB launch model which finally gave out after The Last of Us. All things considered, this package gave me the most for my money. It came with a 250GB Super Slim PS3, a boxed copy of Uncharted 3, and the voucher for 1-Year of Playstation Plus. As someone who'd been living off the original launch model all these years, I was both surprised and pleased at how light this one was. The upgrade to 250GB feels incredibly roomy after being squeezed for space on my 60GB model. I've already played Uncharted 3 but I didn't own it, and it's a lot of fun so it's a really good title to include for new owners. Finally, the year of Playstation Plus is really nice because honestly, the free games and discounts themselves already make it a much better service than Xbox Live (and I say this as someone who owns and regularly uses a 360). If I had to list a couple things that might be considered cons, the first would be that the new top loader for the PS3 game discs is noticeably louder than my previous PS3. However, the PS3 itself runs incredibly quiet and you're not likely to hear anything at all when actually playing a game with the volume up (also, it's basically mute in comparison to my 60GB model, which sounded like a freight train when the fan kicked in). Another "complaint" would be that in this day and age, Sony should really just include an HDMI cable. They aren't nearly as expensive as they were back when I bought my launch model, and they're pretty much mandatory if you want to play games in a resolution at 720p or higher. The last thing isn't REALLY an issue with the PS3 itself, it's just that I'm going to miss the backwards compatibility with PS2 games. All in all, I've been quite pleased with my new PS3. The lack of backwards compatibility in the new PS4 was one of the main reasons I decided to buy a new one this late in the game. I hope it lasts me long into the future, even after I inevitably buy a PS4. If anyone else is in need of a PS3 at this point in time, this package has got enough to warrant a purchase.

The bundle is fine. PS3 is as it is supposed to be. Problem? Amazon sent me a console with an expired PS Plus code. Watch out for false advertising as this website is full of it. When a bundle expressly includes something and it's expired, then Amazon should be ashamed. Their customer service also stinks and offered zero help.

The purchase was based on a combination of price, availability and Amazon's reputation as a merchant/seller. I was not disappointed. The item received was exactly as described. There was but one problem as a result of purchasing from Amazon. When attempting to register my PS3 online the serial number was not recognized by Sony as valid. Only after working with several Sony representatives was it determined that as Amazon does not participate in a serial number scanning program for PS3 retailers the serial is not tagged at Sony as "sold". This system is designed to provide automatic proof of purchase when warranty service is needed. The device therefore has to be manually registered by a Sony representative. A small problem with no apparent solution due to the nature of Amazon. I would recommend anyone wanting a PS3/4 to seriously consider Amazon when it comes to making the purchase decision.

I know I'm late to the PS3 party, but I was a diehard Xbox fan until what Microsoft tried to pull (and is still pulling) with the Xbox One. Basically I refuse to ever buy any Xbox product again, and I just switched consoles. That being said, where the Xbox shines over the PS3 is how quickly you can get it up and running. By this I mean, between the 7 games I bought with this console, and the ones I downloaded from the PSN store, the console was basically unplayable for about 2 days while it downloaded games, updates, and the free DLC included with those games. I think it has more to do with the speed at which the PSN store actually functions. Since most people aren't paying customers of PSN the network likely doesn't have a server backbone that's equal to that of Xbox Live, hence why all the downloads took so long. Additionally, Xbox users are used to downloading a game and jumping right into it. That's not how PS3 works. You download the game, then you have to install it. That can be a very lengthy process. Ultimately that's been my only major frustration thus far. I have been pleased with the console once I got all the updates set up, and I am looking forward to getting the PS4 later this year. From what I hear the problems I've described will not carry over to the new console since they are claiming you can begin a game, even while it's downloading. That will be a major improvement all by itself!
