  • Quality piece of equipment for the price.
The Proxxon KS 115 micro circular saw certainly exceeded my expectations. Don't know how I would have gotten the current model scratch building project done without it. As others have pointed out in their reviews, don't be fooled by the "toy like" look of the rip and miter fences. They are solid and very accurate tools. Checked a number of cuts and each and every one has been dead on. Been primarily cutting 1/16" and 1/8" plywood and basswood. Cuts through effortlessly. Very clean cuts requiring little or no cleanup. Have purchased the fine tooth blade 28020 to go with it for styrene and non-ferrous materials. Likewise works great. The dust collection system works well, leaving relatively little sawdust. And the saw is super quiet. Needed a saw for making very small cuts from thin wood. Not something one would use a 10" table saw blade on, being extremely dangerous to attempt. The 2" Proxxon blades, leaving about a 1/32" kerf, are perfect for model building sawing needs. Have cut extremely tiny pieces with perfect accuracy. I also have the Proxxon chop saw and drill press and likewise have been very pleased with the quality and accuracy. They factored in to my decision to go with their table saw. Only suggestion I would make to Proxxon is to include some type of push sticks as well as a micro clamp built into the miter fence to firmly hold the stock. I found a simple wood pencil, with the eraser end down on the work, indeed makes a great push stick! Will be looking to devise some type of clamping on the miter. Although the blade is tiny, one can easily get a nasty finger cut or worse if you get to close holding small pieces. Overall very please with the quality and price. ... show more

  • The Search For a Saw is Over
The saw is Godsent. I've been doing museum quality tall wooden ships for 35 years and finally a saw that makes fine straight smooth cuts, and does it quickly and quietly. I've read some negative responses but have not experienced any of those problems. The optional 28020 fine tooth blade is essential for fine work, it cuts true, smooth, and square, everytime. I suspect the negative comments result from misuse. The saw with the fine blade is intended for miniature fine work on modeling wood such as basswood, not oak or iron. Do not force it or try to rush it, let it do its own speed and it will impress you. It's a small saw for light work and does a beautiful job within that framework. I've tried many over the years, but this Proxxon KS 115 is simple and convenient on the workbench, does a very fine job, and is highly recommended. I've never done dollhouses but I believe this would also be perfect for the straight-square cutting in house construction. I can send photos if desired. ... show more

  • Great little table saw.
I love this saw for small work. with included tools it is very accurate with one exception. The blade guard makes this thing almost unusable. When I first saw it I thought what a great idea. But in truth it not so good. It will get in the way of your rip and be more unsafe than not having it. So like the other reviewer stated I would rather be responsible for my own safety. Having to always fidget with the cover holder is not safe. But other than that the motor is strong enough to rip Oak. I have made quite a few cuts and it still sounding strong. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Surprised!!
I am very surprise how adequate this hobby saw works when building wooden sailing ships. I use a lot of Boxwood, which is a very hard wood, when building the hull, keel, ribs, rudder and deck beams. So, I was surprised that I could rip up to 7mm of Boxwood, and ripped them into .5mm strips with crisp edges. Granted, I had to take my time ripping them, but was happy nevertheless. It can handle ripping 6mm of English Walnut and Beech, and 5mm of African Monogamy, which is very, very dense wood. Since this saw performed quit well on hardwoods, I know it will work even better on softwoods like Basswood, Plywood or Lime wood. The trick is not to rush your cuts!! Hurrying will only ruin your cuts and leave a ruff edge. Besides, hobbies are supposed to be enjoyable, so slow down and take your time. Overall, a great hobby saw when working with a varity of different woods. ... show more

  • Very happy with my tiny saw. Very happy with my tiny saw.
This saw is a great addition to your shop. It’s reliable and makes extremely fine cuts. In comparison to my Japanese hand saw hands down a much better tool for small thin materials. I build instruments and periodically have to make small parts for repairs which I often had to do by hand. I had to make some minor adjustments to the small fence but I plan to make a miniature sled to do cross cutting and get better accuracy. One thin that’s stands out is the quietness of the motor. No vibration or table movement while secured to a platform like a piece of MDF. ... show more

  • Terrible. Do not buy.
I own three Proxxon tools - the MF70 mini-mill (excellent), the IB/E rotary tool + drill press stand (also excellent), and the KS 115 saw. Out of the box, the saw could barely cut 1/8" balsa wood without bogging down. Switching to the tungsten blade (a $30 accessory) I managed to cut through a few pieces of circuit board material but only by inching along and waiting for the blade to crawl back up to speed every few millimeters. So, I took the thing apart and found lots of things that appear to be questionable or outright broken. 1. The blade guard wasn't secured properly, causing it to tilt downwards and bounce on top of the blade. 2. The plastic belt drive module was bolted to the motor with a huge amount of torque, causing the module to bend and the bearings in it to bind up. In addition, two thin brass washers that were intended to go on the bolts between the motor and the belt drive were too large to fit in place due to a clearance issue with the flange on an adjacent nut. Sometime during manufacturing they'd slid off to the side and the belt drive module was later cranked down on top of them, tilting the motor a few degrees off-axis from the belt. These things combined to throw the belt off just enough that it rubbed against the pulleys on the motor & blade shafts, causing so much friction that you could barely turn the blade by hand. 4. The bearings on the blade shaft have about 1/3 mm of lateral play, enough to make long cuts wobble. 5. The status LED circuit contributes to the motor's tendency to bog down - bypassing it improved the recovery time considerably. 6. The motor itself has a ton of friction. -------------------- I don't know how this saw made it past quality control. I've cut through far beefier stuff using wimpier tools, but this saw is incapable of handling even my lightest tasks. I'm sure I've thoroughly voided my warranty by now, but I'm going to do my best to get my money back anyhow - this saw isn't worth the plastic it's made from. ... show more

  • Great for small craft projects.
I don’t understand all the complaints. This is a really great little tool! I use it for small craft projects ripping and cross - cutting plywood, cedar, and poplar about 1/4 inch thick with absolutely no issues. Don’t rush it- let the machine do what it is designed to do. The results are super precise. I hope to soon acquire the matching chop saw. ... show more

  • Not as nice as some reviews claim
I really don’t understand how reviews for this saw rate it so highly. The saw stalls easily when cutting only 1/16” copper clad pc board material with the diamond blade. Even when I tried the sawtooth blade it struggled to keep up. The blade guard is made of cheap stamped metal and bends or deforms easily. I had to remove the blade guard to make any cuts, and removing it was difficult. The cutting bed is screwed into plastic, and it was nearly impossible to get it squared. The components of the saw are made mostly made of plastic, and are not sturdy enough to keep the cuts straight. Perhaps it would make a good saw for lighter materials such as as balsa wood, but for me it was a non-starter. ... show more
