I could not find 1" foam mats sold at lower price than these. The mats are high quality and perform exactly as I hoped they would. These mats are indeed 1" thick high density foam and provide a firm yet cushioned surface for a variety of uses. I bought these mats to place under a shag rug, to provide a more comfortable surface to sit on when sitting on the floor near a window in my bedroom. I no longer suffer from joint pain when getting up from sitting on the floor with these mats under the rug. These mats are rather firm and do not provide a super soft, giving surface, but that's exactly what I wanted because high density foam has much greater longevity as opposed to low density foam. The mats are perfect for protecting floors from heavy equipment, or for providing a more comfortable floor surface for sitting, standing, crawling, and other types of physical activities. I am very happy with the product and depending on your intended use, I'm sure you will be happy with it as well. Nice product. Large size and the thickness is great! They are quite plush. The only downside is that if you are placing them on a slick surface like hardwood, concrete, vinyl, etc they will slide. Not ideal for lots of movement like exercising. My husband and I are going to try and add some grips to the bottom. Other than that they are great! We had some extra space in our garage which my significant other decided to convert into a home gym. He wanted a padded floor instead of working out directly on the concrete so he decided on these foam mats. They lock together really well and require no real effort to assemble together. I appreciate too that you can make the area as big or as small as needed with multiple pieces. They are a great insulation for high intensity exercises like rope jumping and are a great sound cushion for barbell work. Our only concern with these is our dogs sometimes like to run around the area and their nails do mark up the pads with scratches. It does not take away the useful effect of the pieces, but it is a visual flaw. So my advice is to be careful with any sharp objects or animals near them. They also clean up easily and do not hold any smell with routine maintenance and have been a great solution for our needs. ... show more

    • For Jiu Jitsu and striking practice

I got these so that my boyfriend and I can invite others over to roll, and practice Jiu Jitsu and sparring. These are better than all the other mats I could find on Amazon within a similar price range. They are twice as thick as other brands, and each square mat is twice as large as any other brands I’ve found as well. While I don’t think they are thick enough to throw your opponent to the ground, because obviously they are not as thick as the expensive gym mats at the Jiu Jitsu gym, rolling on them is extremely comfortable and you don’t feel the ground through them. They also look really nice, and two packs covered an entire room so now we have our own Jiu Jitsu room in our home. My friend bought a different brand and they were terrible, thin, and each square was so small for how much they were that we kept rolling off of them. He is going to get these mats instead now to replace the ones he bought. These mats are even more comfortable and thicker than my yoga mat as well so I don’t even use my yoga mat anymore. After reading some reviews on thinner Matt's not holding together well, I decided to go with 1 in thick mats. These are really nice! They stabilized my elliptical and will be great for yoga. They also added some sound proofing to the room.

They're mats. They work and are easy to put together. Very nice for home workout corner. Got the 1" and love em. They like to become indented if you leave weights/heavy items on them for a while but they do the job they're supposed to.
