    • Works great...until it doesn't
This is actually the second steamer I purchased as I wasn't getting anywhere with support on the first unit and it will still cheaper than a dry cleaning bill. These work GREAT, pumping out a lot of hot steam and making quick work of all items needing steaming but then after maybe 6 months each time, the steam stops coming out hot (steamy) or stops coming out at all. I've taken apart the hose, cleaned the unit, drained water, used distilled water, sink water, anything I can think of trying. And they just both died. Sad because the other steamer I purchase works-ish but doesn't get as hot nor does it provide the same level of steam as this one. Back to my trusty - but small - handheld steamer that requires a few water refills at a time. ... show more

    • Gets the job done, eventually
I'm looking to replace my Rowenta upright garment steamer which lasted nearly 20 years. It was a gift from my mom so many moons ago, so unfortunately I can no longer find it on the market to compare specs or price. While there's no way for me to speak to the longevity of the Anthter 1500W steamer, it does feel sturdy and substantial at its base. It was easy to put together, though a bit cumbersome to move around. The hose, particularly, is extremely taught and I had to use a bit of effort to keep it where I wanted; unsure if that will be less so with use. The listing claims that it has a 2.5L water tank, though the enclosed instruction manual lists it as 2.0L. It looks pretty tiny to me, which was a concern since my previous steamer had a giant tank, but I kind of like it because it is easier to fill/manage. I have not yet noticed whether the water supply hinders its efficacy. The hanger has built-in clips, but nothing to hang your own hanger on, which I do not enjoy. The steam wand feels substantial and sturdy as well. There is a spigot on the back of the machine which you can remove for decalcification, which is a nice touch as I think my Rowenta kicked the bucket because I could no longer decalcify it adequately by running vinegar water through it. The Anthter has a dial knob with 2 power levels, which is fine but I miss my Rowenta’s buttons which were designed to be foot-activated. I had to use the more powerful setting to get the test garment finished. The listing claims to heat up in 30 seconds, while the enclosed manual says 45 seconds. I found neither of these claims to be true. While a gurgling sound, fair amount of heat, and some visible steam is coming out of the wand at the 45 second mark, it took way too long to tackle wrinkles in a medium-thick polyester dress. Eventually it got the job done, but more so after the steam was kicking around the 3-4 minute mark. It took nearly 25 minutes to steam the dress. This product has some pros, though I do not appreciate the inconsistent specs. For my money I will be returning this item and continuing my search. ... show more
