Enjoy a clear, lossless, low-latency monitoring experience. Is the KX04 a powered mixer? Can it connect directly to passive speakers? KX04 is an unpowered mixer, no built-in amp. Passive speakers need an external amp; active speakers connect directly. Why does the output sound level feel low? Output low? Set GAIN 12-5 o'clock (more for dynamic mic). Channel fader to 0 (scale: +10 top, 0 unity, -60 bottom). Main fader also to 0. Turn up speakers. Mistake: GAIN only — channel & main must be up. What should I do if the sound is distorted? Distorted? Turn on the PAD switch (it lowers the input by 20dB). Turn the GAIN knob down to around 9 o'clock. Also turn down the volume on the device you're connecting (phone, computer, DJ controller). Distortion = signal is too strong, not too weak. Why is there no sound output when the mixing console is connected to the computer? Mixers use multi-stage level control. Adjust the channel GAIN, channel fader, main output fader, and the volume on the external amplifier or powered speaker for proper output. Finally, check whether the MP3 ROUTE button on Channel 3 is pressed. Why can't the mixer read the USB stick / USB stick not working? I’ve been using this DJ audio mixer for over a week now, and I’m genuinely impressed with how much it offers. The Bluetooth feature is one of my favorite aspects because it allows me to stream tracks directly from my phone or laptop without dealing with a bunch of wires. Surpringly amazing little mixer! I work as entertainer on the side hosting trivia, karaoke, and DJing, and this mixer has been everything I've needed. It's light weight but has not let me down. Despite what others have said, it does not cause a hum, that comes from poor grounding or a handful of other hardware issues (i.e. old or bad cables and audio source issues). I've run dj controllers, wireless mics, and have used in tandem with a wide range of speakers and it keeps going. Save money here but get good cables! ... show more

    • Good Budget Mixer for Simple Events, but Audio Quality Is Average

I purchased this mixer for a simple DJ event where I needed to play a playlist from a tablet and occasionally let guests connect their own devices. For that purpose, it worked well and had enough inputs to handle everything I needed. For the price, the build quality is about what you'd expect. It gets the job done, but the knobs and controls feel a bit inexpensive, and the potentiometers (pots) don't have the smooth feel of higher-end mixers. My biggest complaint is the sound quality. Compared to my regular DJ controller, I noticed that this mixer seemed to degrade the audio a bit. It's certainly usable, but if you're particular about sound quality, you'll probably notice the difference. I did test the Bluetooth feature, and it paired easily, but for the actual event I chose to use a wired connection to avoid any possibility of wireless dropouts. Overall, I think this is a decent mixer for karaoke, announcements, small parties, or occasional events where you're on a budget. It performs its basic functions well, but if audio quality is a top priority, it's worth spending a little more on a higher-end mixer. I plugged in the channel 3/4 dual stereo inputs and everything worked properly. I plugged in a mic to channel 1 and there was a god awful hum from the speaker with no volume on any channel. I powered off the speaker and switched the mic to channel 2 and had the same effect. I depowered the speaker and got rid of the hum, but couldn't get audio through either channel 1 or 2... This board is laid out perfectly for what I do, and I love the sliders and XLR outputs, but ultimately, this thing is garbage. Unfortunate, because I would buy 10 of them if they worked. ... show more

great little mixer. ppl complaining about the hum is because they dont use what the mixer came with. you can not use a high power usbc outlet/power bank. you need to use a normal old school usb to usbc cord (that it came with). mixer is good for what it is., its $50. recommend as backup and/or ceremony mixer. ... show more
