  • fit perfectly, works great
I've been running this radiator in my 2004 Silverado for a year now and it has performed flawlessly and my truck runs cooler.

  • fits as described and works well!
I bought this radiator my 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L after purchasing a much more expensive US made Cold Case radiator from Jegs only to have it leak from the core on my first big trip. The Cold Case was much thicker, had a bigger core and bigger tanks, but was also much wider (not advertised) and the fan shroud didn't fit right because of this. I needed a quick solution and really wanted the proper width so that the fan shroud would fit and this Primecooling unit worked great. I was skeptical because it was half the weight of the cold case radiator but it seems to work just fine. It does not come with the quick connects for the transmission cooler lines so those will need to be transfered from an old radiator or new ones purchased. I tow a 23' camper and fully loaded the truck is working hard and when the ambient temperature is above 75-80F it slowly climbs over half on the temp gauge until you put the heater on. With this aluminum radiator and the use of RedLine Water Wetter, it does not begin to overheat at all, however it works so well that when it is cold out it struggles to reach normal operating temperature unless the radiator is blocked off with cardboard or a bra. Overall it does exactly what I need it to, time will tell how long it lasts. ... show more

  • Definitely needs trans cooling adapter with it.
Great radiator but needs adapters for trans cooling took a while for me to find them but message me if you have any problems

  • Barebones radiator
This radiator is almost twice as thick as the oem radiator and being aluminum, weighs about the same. It looks and feels like it’s built solid. It installed easy and after a preliminary test drive of about 10 miles, it operates great and noticeably cooler than oem. The only downside is that it is barebones so you have to use your old fittings and bushings which is why I gave 4 stars. Other than that, this radiator is great so far. 13 months later: This radiator is still going strong with no issues at all. The larger than OEM capacity helps a lot with towing a boat. I definitely recommend this as a replacement/upgrade. ... show more

  • Lots of Cooling
Fits my 2001 Silverado 5.3 Z71 1500. I put a old style radiator drain valve in it. Bought at pep boys so I will be able to connect the drain hose when draining. Trans cooler fittings from old radiator fit new. Shroud leaves some gap at left and right sides. Installing radiator, had to tweak this and that. Always the case when putting things that are made different into a vehicle. Far more cooling capacity compared to what came out. Don't forget that you will need more coolant and distilled water. Or more premix. UPDATE: had to make a restrictive fitting for air bleed line to reservoir. Was flowing far to much coolant into reservoir which is essentially bypassing thermostat causing engine light for low coolant temp. OEM radiator has restrictive hole deep inside where that hose connects. Made mine from aluminum round stock, drilled, stepped down to hole same size as OEM, JB weld in place-radiator nipple. Works perfectly now. Lower to 3 stars. ... show more

  • poorly packaged
Unit was poorly packaged and was delivered damaged. The quality of the unit itself was bad that I would not expect it to last as long as the original.
