This is an excellent piece of workmanship - very low in price and great for work in the health field for basic heart and lungs sounds. I noticed that it didn't come with instructions, so for all the people who are thinking of buying this - you need to know that you can turn the head (hold tube at base of head, and simply twirl it) to get a better/different sound. To hear very clearly, simply place your finger over the hole on the top of the smaller head. Heart tones, breath sounds come in loud and clear. I am so pleased I found this again. I had an older one (might have even been the same brand) that lasted me for quite a while so was looking for a similar lightweight stethoscope that did not pull on the neck, or whose headpiece is so heavy that it became a burden to carry. Before I came to Amazon, I had bought 2 other more expensive stethoscopes in the past month, but they were so heavy and unwieldy, and I could not hear from them as well, so went to Amazon and found these. Very strangely enough, for my ears, this cheap one sounds so much better than those other 2 Prestige stethoscopes (the $19.00 ones). Actually, even better than my old vey expensive Littmans. Also, since the price is so cheap, I will not regret losing it TOO much (like my 2 previous (expensive) Littmans). Well, I suppose we all have different hearing and perceptions of what we hear, so this is my opinion. I do have friends who swear by their Littmans, but for me, this sound is very much clearer. ... show more

I find it useful and lightweight. The advice from one of the reviews about covering the small hole to get better sounds works great. Also, twisting the head on its base to get the right sound makes a difference. Its a good value and helps me check for a solid rthythm that boosts my confidence my heart is acting normally when i sense it may not be. ... show more

Like one of the other reviews states, there are no directions with this stethoscope. What you have to do is to turn the metal where the ear tube connect to the main part of the stethoscope. It will click when you turn it, which will direct the sound towards the ear pieces when you click it into one of the two positions. Just tap you finger on it and you will hear when it is in the correct position. I used it to take my Dad's blood pressure and it worked fine. I think you can spend twice or three times the money and end up with the same thing. If you want a really good one, I think you will be spending over ten times this price of $5.88. No way you can put it in your ears for more then 5 seconds. It even hurts longer after you remove it. I can't hear my own heart. Useless. I cannot believe it says Amazon choice.

Let me first start off by saying that I am an actress and purchased this so I can look like a doctor or nurse on TV. I'm in no way a medical professional. This looks great and it was cheap. Two things I needed. I had to assemble it and it came with no instructions. It was quite easy but I don't really hear it work. Meaning, I can't hear a heart beat with it. Maybe there was something I did wrong? It's not very comfortable in my ears, well atleast for me but I'm not going to be really using it. Not sure I would want my doctor or nurse to use this one.
