Description

Prestone Synthetic Brake Fluid is designed to provide a high margin of boiling point protection. The mix of polyglycol ethers ensures hot brake-system operation will not create dangerous vapor. This delivers braking power when needed by avoiding a spongy pedal. The wet and dry boiling points exceed the minimum government standards. A comprehensive inhibitor package provides corrosion protection for all metals within the braking system. Recommended for all ABS, disc and drum brake systems as well as hydraulic clutches requiring DOT-3 and DOT-4 fluids. Substantially reduces the possibility of fluid vaporization and eventual brake failure (as a result of vapor lock) by maintaining a high wet boiling point. Minimum dry boiling point: 510 degees Fahrenheit (266 degrees Celsius). Minimum wet boiling point: 311 degrees Fahrenheit (155 degrees Celsius). Meets or exceeds DOT-3 and DOT-4 specifications. Compatible with all conventional brake fluids. Complies with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 116. Meets SAE J1703 & J1704.

When you have the wheels off and you are changing the pads/rotors is a great time to replace brake fluid. Compress caliper. Just take a "turkey baster" and remove fluid from reservoir. Fill with fresh fluid. Open the bleeder and let the fluid gravity feed till it runs clear. Don't let the reservoir run dry. IMO, it does not matter which wheel you do first. ... show more

This order is only as good as its weakest link. 2 of the 3 bottles ordered is DOT 3. The person who pulled this order should have the common sense to at least look at the items they’re pulling to fulfill an order. Now I have to put off flushing the brake fluid in my car because it’s not likely I’ll have a replacement order in 1 day. All because of the weakest link! Name brand DOT 4 brake fluid in a small bottle. Perfect for changing motorcycle brake fluid for topping off a car. I bought a couple of bottles so I can flush the brakes on a car. If I buy the quart size bottle any left over goes to waste. Because brake fluid is hydrophilic it will begin to absorb water from the air once the bottle is opened. Recently purchased a used, super-low-mileage motorcycle -- a 2006 with 2,500 miles -- all original fluids included. The brake and clutch fluid looked like maple syrup. I used this Prestone to flush and refill all the slave cylinders and now they operate smoothly, quietly and evenly. Hydraulic fluid should be changed every couple years so probably any fluid would have been a huge improvement. This is the DOT 4 fluid from a reputable company so I have confidence in the quality and performance of the product. ... show more

I put it in my both motorcycles, and both my cars (Honda Fit and Hyundai Elantra), and in the honda I also used it to replace the clutch fluid, as it also calls for DOT3/4 brake fluid. Works great, the sponginess of brakes when hot on the Hyundai went away, as expected. The best thing is that it was <$30 and after replacing the fluid in 4 vehicles, I still have one bottle left over. What's not to like about that kind of a deal? ... show more

One of the most forgotten maintenance items: brake and clutch fluid replacement. Full synthetic DOT4 is a great bargain compared to DOT3, with which this product is fully compatible. DOT5.1 is also compatible, but would be overkill for most drivers outside of serious racing applications. Quality DOT4 is fine even in harsh/aggressive driving conditions. In general if you brake fluid looks like a light shot of scotch you're fine, if it looks like Coca-cola it needs to be replaced, and if it looks like espresso it is bad enough to potentially damage the system. ... show more

This product comes in smaller bottles. When flushing the brake system, I would buy a quart and would have some left. I do not want to save the fluid for any period of time once open. These smaller bottles afford me the ability to keep fresh fluid available.
